  1. As I scour the ends of the internet for particular Uncanny X-Men OA this website always comes up despite not being updated in 4 years. Does anyone have any info on them (if they still sell art, etc)? I've reached out to them via e-mail and never heard anything back.

    Thanks!

  2. I've just started using Comic Link and set up some alerts. However, I found an in progress auction that I'm interested in but can't figure out a way to save it or watch it, etc. Some way to keep an eye on it without having to search it every time I want to access it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  3. I inquired about silvestri x-men about a year ago. These are the prices I got from them, so you can get an idea. My inquiries stopped with these quotes.

Certain artists they'll get in bidding wars with on auction sites, propabaly to help justify the crazy asks on their current inventory. Silvestri (x-men) seems to be one of them.

THANK YOU!!!! This is what I was looking for and sadly what I was expecting. Much appreciated.

  4. Thanks for all the advice to everyone who contributed in this thread. I'm probably going to stay away from them for the time being. There's just too many Silvestri pieces I need to know the price on and I don't think I'm ready for the sticker shock. Owning a piece of classic x-men art from my childhood is my dream, Ive seen enough of these pages over the years to know that 90% of them are never going to be something I can afford. I'm just holding out that there's a piece somewhere of the team members just having a conversation in their civilian clothes or something that's not obscnenely expensive or even an old convention sketch or commission.

A few weeks back HA auctioned an eighties Silvestri sketch of Rogue. I got into a small bidding war but ultimately gave up. I saw that piece listed on their website as "trade only" bargaining chip and it hurt my soul.

  5. I'm looking for classic Uncanny X-Men art but on a budget. Cool Lines has an insane amount of it, but don't list any of their prices. I'd prefer to see the cost up front to determine what I can and can't afford. There's no way I can ask them for them to list the 50 or so pieces I'm interested in just so I can figure out if I can afford them, is there? Anyway and input or information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  6. I posted this in the the original thread, before I realized it had been relocated.

Doom, in my opinion is the single greatest Marvel villain. Much of that I feel (at least for me) was due to Byrne's FF run and really turning him into a nuanced character similar to what Claremont did for Magneto.

I'm actually looking to get a Doom commission at some point soon, sitting in his throne with some Kirby Krackle. I want something that really hammers home the nobility aspect, just having some trouble finding the right artist. I may save my pennies until NYCC roles around and see if I can get an Esad Ribic or Alex Maleev Doom.

There's a ton of great Doom stories but one of my favorite moments is during FF #236 where the team is trapped in that fake tiny town where life is "perfect" for them. The whole story has a very Twilight Zone feel, but Sue is drawn to this beautiful piano playing and when she enters the room and see that it's Doom making the music she is horrified.

  7. Can anyone recommend an artist on the cheaper end who really nails doctor doom? I'd like to get something done that conveys his grandeur.

    Please define "cheaper end"

I'm thinking of a $100-150 commission. Trust me when I say I'd love to get a Esad Ribic or Alex Maleev doom, but that's a pipe dream for me at this point.

  8. Two questions I'd like to put out there.

    1. I know that Wilfredo Torres does commissions, do you think he would be offended if I asked for a pencils only commission (and if so would it be cheaper?). I ask only because I love his work and on his Instagram page he posts alot of pencils only work and it's gorgeous, I really think he loses something in his art when it's inked and colored.

    For example:

    2. Has anyone ever gotten a commission from John Broglia? If so, how was he to deal with? What was his turnaround time and cost?

    Thanks!

  9. Any movement on this?

I agree with the above poster. I was really into the first arc, the second arc was good enough but the delays on the third were unbearable. It took almost a year to put out 5 issues.

  10. This is actually a difficult question to answer.

Convention sketch - something drawn quickly in your presence during a con. Chad drew this in front of me.

You can see more con sketches collected by my wife for the greatest present ever - a complete sketch book for my 60th birthday. Only a couple were done outside of her presence (Adams and Jusko).

Commission - something drawn at "home" This is clearly a commission. Done by Russ from home.

And then there are things like this

    Mt06x2gP_2906141343021.jpg

Jeremy did this over a period of time (Friday early through Sunday afternoon) at Heroes Con. How should it be classified - con sketch or commission? I vacillate on this all the time. I've even changed it from one to the other in my CAF a couple of times.

I don't know if this is helpful, but at least you have some examples. :)

    Thanks!!!
