So what is the solution to this then from your perspective?

Clearly there needs to be a contract signed and agreed upon for a transaction like this. A copy of this contract should then be held by a third party. Payment terms should be outlined, term and monthly payments explicitly shown. Adam is providing the option of time payments at a cost to himself as he is paying interest on the book up until the time the transaction ends. He needs to be protected when the buyer does not go through with the deal. In my opinion, the contract should have at least forced the buyer to pay all interest that Adam paid should he not fulfill the transaction plus other agreed upon penalties (such as holding the other comic). However, as much as I side with Adam, I don't think much can be done here with no such contract existing.

Canada Post doesn't provide any packing material at all? Ouch! Yeah, we do have it good. But even if the seller was sending this Media Mail or Parcel Post, companies like Uline and PSAUSA sell boxes that are below a $1 that easily protect CGC books. What a shame! Canada Post and every other government employee suck ! (especially the auditors ) auditors get all the girls.

If it was an eBay transaction, they probably would have covered it themselves. That's why it's better to go straight to your credit card company instead. Yeah - I used a paypal balance since it was a trusted person, who I had had many successful deals with....,

We do about the same thing, a $20 bill and a gift certificate to the movies for 2. Certainly nice gestures, but it is sad that you have to bribe someone to do their job properly. How would your job performance be if you depended on a bribe and didn't get one?

Thanks to Kimik for helping me figure out what is considered a canadian price variant. I've gone through my collection and have found 37 comics that fit the description (perhaps a star wars annual 1 as well... but I'm not sure about that one). I'll be scanning and grading these tonight, then they'll be up for sale in the next few days. If you are interested, PM me, and I'll give you a more accurate start date (when I'll have a better idea of when it will be). The titles are mainly obscure titles, but there is a nice chunk of detective, batman and sub-mariner. Pretty cool covers on the Tecs as well.
