I posted here some weeks ago about my surreal experience of walking into a used book store in a village in France whilst on my holiday (vacation for the North Americans) and finding all this Moebius art.  Despite have not enough cash, I bought one small piece that was supposed to have been published.

I had no idea at the time if this was legit or fake. But the members on this board were kind enough to help me verify.  I have now been able to get a copy of the magazine my piece was published in (see below) and certainly looks legit.

I can't believe that I actually own something drawn by Moebius (and published at that). Now if I can just get a Jack Kirby my life will be complete.

Great find. You have a great story to go along with your Moebius illustration.

Nice to see Frank Thorne on your nostalgic list Matches, The Sonja #10 cover was sold but like most of the Thorne works I do think it ended up in the right collection.

There's no doubt in my mind that she will be treasured.

  3. Mid 80’s is when I gravitated toward comics heavily. There are the usual suspects that everybody most likely has in common.   Perez Crisis on Infinite Earths # 7, Zeck  Secret Wars 8….  But there were others that left an impression that I have not forgotten.  Some came before my time; nevertheless   discovering the sword-and-sorcery comics from the seventies is also a nostalgic period for me, as I could not get enough of such movies like Beastmaster, Excalibur, Clash of the Titans, Krull, etc, etc.

  4. The discussion of disliking a specific work of art without irritating someone can sometimes be challenging.   Yes, both the title of the thread and first post are in need of some tact as history shows the topic can be quite delicate.  But I don’t think we should completely withdraw from the discussion. Personally I like to read why a person likes and equally dislikes a work of art.  Not everybody sees the same thing. Art is subjective.  If the OP feels in this specific example Kevin Nowlan is not producing quality work, I would like him to elaborate on it, not shut him down.   I’m sure there’s a better choice of word than quality, but Im willing to look beyond that just for the sake of the discussion.  Just keep it civil….and productive.

This thread isn't about likes and dislikes. It was started solely for dislikes.

If the thread was 'which artists work has changed over the years', then I agree a discussion could be had. And has been in other threads, with positive and negative comments both, but constructive nonetheless.

I stand by my opinion that a thread solely for calling out perceived subpar work is a useless thread. And insinuating immaturity and emotional deficiency seems more of a personal attack, but whatever. I'll chalk it up to you defining civil the same way you define productive discussion. (thumbsu

I don't see where I defined a civil discussion and productive discussion as been the same.

I don't understand why this is even a thread. What a useless topic.

We can criticize  films, music, books but criticizing  OA quality is useless?   (shrug)

Are we not mature enough to read other board members opinions on their likes and dislikes of  an artist without taking it personal and calling for  death by stoning.

if you can't emotionally handle someone disliking what your favorite artist is producing , then just avoid this thread.

I think the discussion can be had, without personal attacks.  Keep it Civil.

Was just able to pick up a page from The Old Guard #1 by Leandro Fernandez. This is one of my favourtie new series and the chance to own a page from #1 was too good to pass up. I was able to get there pretty early so I had the choice pick of most of the pages (that I could afford of course) so I went with a great splash page of Andy (the team leader) holstering her weapon while the recently decapitated head of an enemy soldier bounces to the floor. So happy!!!

Feels high to me for a relative unknown, but definitely more than originally quoted just out of the gate no matter what for a published cover.

I remember the buzz around him a few years back after illustrating the covers for We Can Never Go Home book.  I would personally consigned it to CL as I do not see it selling under $1K
