  1. Crowded, hot, narrow aisles but all types of graphic novels (Saga), some floppy comics, lots of art books (Wally Wood), some anime type toys being sold Sat. Just bought Mike Zeck Artist Edition IDW Marvel Comic Stories. Rx also has Sunday Press and Dark Horse oversized comic newspaper art books. Surprised Flatliner did not buy the 2 Yoshi Amano Japanese import painted art books at 1/2 price although they were buried in assorted boxes. No other Vancouver, BC area comic shop stocks such strange French oversized art books either.
  2. Rx has a decent selection of Archies, Dennis Menace digests near the front door long box for about 50c each.
  3. Nice panel pics. Are you taking them with a Smart phone mounted to a small tripod?
  4. You also mentioned GA 'comics in development' so I like May, 1939 with Detective 27 and scarce Wonder Comics 1 (Fox vs National/DC lawsuit issue). <3
  5. Iron Man #30 mint- sold for $15,000 9.8. 1st app. of nobody.
  6. How is the weather there at end of January? Do you know what years are covered by Newbold's GA DC collection find and average condition ?
  7. I don't see how they can make Westworld season 2 better than season 1 with all the twists, turns, reverie reveals.
  8. $20K just means MPFW is now equivalent to Action #1 coverless missing 6 pages (unless actually missing 3 wraps or 12 pages, as not that clear from the online description). Can't be over priced if this is 'true market value.'
  9. $20,000 reserve met for historically interesting but incomplete copy.
  10. How long is the drive from either Long Beach airport or John Wayne to Yorba Linda? Is there a Lego Land in Anaheim?
  11. That is a pretty good weekend, as the weather is warmer and 1 week after huge Calgary Expo for any vendors travelling the Western Canada circuit from Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, etc.
  12. Overstreet seems to think MPFW was the April, 1939 missing link between Will Eisner's work on 4 issues of Western Picture Stories (1937) and Bill Everett's Amazing-Man #5 (1st non-humor Centaur hero, Sept, 1939). Next was Marvel Comics #1 1st Timely <3 October, 1939.
  13. Was reviewing my Overstreet 1989-90. At that time, MPFW (1939; good $ 2,500, 8 copies suspected extant ) was ranked 3 stars in comics history importance the same as: Detective Comics #1 1937 gd $ 1,550. More Fun 52, 53 (Spectre, 1940). #52 gd $ 1,285 4 Color #4 Donald Duck, 1940, gd $ 300. Sub-mariner #1 1941, gd $ 371. Four Color #16 Mickey Mouse, 1941. gd $270. Marvel Mystery #9 Torch vs Subby was ranked scarce with 1 star. gd $ 288 Marvel Comics #1 (1939, gd $ 4,200) ranked at 5 stars the same ranking as Detective #27, gd $ 3,850. I used Overstreet good for price comparisons, as we would be glad to find an unrestored <3 good these days.
  14. I would still rank it as 8/10 in GA importance as it is the 1st Timely even though it was 'demoted' to the promotional comic section by Overstreet. The only comparable may be the Marvel Mystery b/w 'annual' nn that has about 10 copies extant published in NYC circa 1944 and distributed in Canada. The Capt America b/w nn is a bit different as it was published in Canada for Canadian distribution. Disclaimer: neither of these Timely b/w 'annuals' at current auction on Comic Link or Comic Connect belong to me.
  15. Guess Comic Connect was in a hurry and usually just upload 2 pics max of their auction comics? Here is a sample of craft tint used on Marvel #2 compared to a regular black and white original art page from a later Marvel Mystery:
  16. NG, pro restored Cgc label. I prefer Marvel Mystery #2 (rare per Overstreet) with nice 12 pgs of craft tint Subby plus the Angel, Kazar, Human Torch in full comic bk size.
  17. Seems quite ridiculous that one can buy 80 year old comics for about $40 which is the cost of last Wed.'s hot variant cover comic on eBay:
  18. Your search engine seems to be mixing up different volumes of the same title on pricing. e.g. Wonder Comics #1 (Fox) vs other Wonder Comics #1 (1940s). Good effort.
  19. Was surprised that the Lost Valley collection had almost no Lou Fine comics listed except for Hit Comics # 5, 6. No Wonder Comics #2 (Fox, or #1), Mystery Men or Wonderworld Comics.
  20. I think that is Hawkgirl (2nd from right) from DC Legends of the Universe tv series.
  21. Lou Fine's house ad from interior of back cover of Wonder World Comics #6 showing classic #7 cover:
  22. I believe this was one of Lou Fine's pseudonyms from Wonder World Comics circa 1940:
  23. From Art of Lou Fine #4 comic (1987) before Ha.com auctioned original art off?
