  1. Have not read this whole thread. Pre-Batman #1 ad from All-Star Comics #1 centerfold:
  2. Pence copy of New Mutants 98 that was distributed in UK same month as original 1st printing published in USA. Think I have a copy in storage; none on Cgc census ... yet.
  3. Anyone know the % print run of the UK pence copy of New Mutants #98 vs the USA 1st printing of NM #98? 10% or even way less? Is the pence copy broken out on Cgc census at all?
  4. fyi, the True Believers : Deadpool #1 reprint of NM #98 just came out printed on glossy paper so no mistaking it for the original. Cover price is $1 US same as original NM # 98.
  5. Is the White Canary actually based on a current DC heroine or villain ? Time travel back to 1970s Lesbian partner of Black Canary??
  6. I think the Donnelly's podcast would have to be a 2 parter, as they were 1 of the earliest OA mail order (San Mateo?) vendors with a full page ad in Overstreet. Collectors always complained about their aggressive prices but perhaps they were always 3 years ahead of the curve. Outstanding podcast #2 and the Youtube link just brought both up to Cgc 10.0 gem mint of enjoyment.
  7. bronty, Yes, I sold the Murphy Anderson Showcase 60 OA cover for an aggressive $110 in the late 70s. Outbid Patrick S. locally at Leonard's comicon for it: mano-a-mano.
  8. Felix, Very interesting interview and future perspective on OA with Albert. We were both teens when I wholesaled 14 John Byrne OA pages to him circa 1983. I remember the Frank Miller Dark Knight OA pages being sold at SDCC with at the time krack-head asking prices (panel pages for $350-400), splashes for $800-900. Was double the market value of Miller DD pages at the time, and I thought the inking needed to be tighter over Miller's pencils on Dark Knight series 1 so I passed on the splash.
  9. Saw all 13 episodes over 3 days. Overall, I still like JJ more than Netflix's DD because I could not make sense of the Alias #1, 5, 6 comics that I tried to read. Advantage of DD is that fans are so happy to see Miller's well known (and well read) story arc on the tv screen and hopefully season 2 of DD will introduce more promising heroines and villians (Bullseye).
  10. Am up to episode 11 of 13. Would say JJ is still better than DD do to a strong supporting cast with their own back story being revealed. At least Purple Man /Kilgrave has more dialogue than Kingpin bludgeoning his enemies in Netflix's DD.
  11. Fun for me as I like scouting the backgrounds for scenes shot in Vancouver, BC. e.g. Purple Man/Kilgrave meets photographer at outdoor chessboards located around the Vancouver Art Gallery and park grounds.
  12. 4 episodes in and liking JJ better than DD so far. Seems like some of the city backgrounds were shot in Vancouver, BC as I recognized HSBC (Honk Kong Bank of Canada) sign and Gastown brownstones.
  13. I am going to watch the advance preview of Ghost in the Shell: the new (animated) movie Nov. 12, 2015 with English sub-titles. LCS was giving out free tix to their subscriber/customers. Think it came out in Japan Sept, 2015? About 1 hr, 25 minutes long.
  14. Somebody please tell me when J2 #5 gets hot as the 1st true(?) 1999 appearance of Wolverine's daughter complete with 3 pronged claws, yellow costume, Logan, Mrs. Logan, cover appearance and from Hudson's Bay, Canada. Reminds me of the first she-Thor What If #10 volume 1 that fandom is pumping up. (thumbs u
  15. Mr. Heshka will be appearing live at Vancouver Comic Show (BC, Canada) Oct. 25/15 Sunday. Info here for a 100 table local comicon: Heshka in Vancouver, BC.
  16. Agreed. I'm a fan of the mega man game and capcom fan boy. The last thing I would want is a comic . I didn't even know they made comics of mega man. I think there was a new comic released last week Not to be confused with DC's new Omega Men relaunch.
  17. Saw an X-files #1 raw Topps priced at $25 at Wizard Chicago. Start stocking up now from the bargain bins.
  18. just watched the movie download. Too many gaps in basic logic between Earth and the Negative Zone in the last 1/3 of the movie. I never read the Ultimate FF, so don't know if Ultimate totally changed Dr Doom's origin from the Lee/Kirby version. Better to watch Trank's Chronicle on dvd or download for a decent superhero story set in Seattle, WA with well developed characters and logical explanation of learning to use new powers.
  19. I love the FF comics and want to give this movie a chance but Bleeding Cool review says: 1. Sue Storm is not American 2. The Thing did not get his powers from cosmic rays and does not wear pants. Fox cannot even introduce the Black Panther, as Panther's rights are still with Marvel Studios.
  20. Race to the bottom. Let's see if FF reboot movie can defeat DC's Jonah Hex Rotten Tomatoes score of 0.0 or was it negative? it was so bad that it was just BAD. But my 2 best buddies still paid $12 each to see Jonah Hex on the big screen after I warned them of the sad RT score.
  21. Not sure if this Dave Stevens Amazing Heroes Rocketeer cover was ever reprinted. I like the homage to Kaluta's Shadow hardcover book cover with the shrunken characters in the hero's hand <3 on the lower left hand corner.
  22. Stevens also drew a new Rocketeer cover with Bettie Page for Amaz Heroes Preview # 145 (July, 1988). Don't think it has an interview but it does reprint about 3 other Dave Stevens independent press (thumbs u covers in b/w inside. Might still fit in a slab as it is 1/2 inch thick, comic book sized.
  23. Is a toddler Barbara Gordon Jr (?) going to be on tv's Gotham? Casting announcement info please.
  24. $1 US greenback is worth about $1.38 Canadian loonies this week but the loon is on a sinking trend per usual.
  25. Humans UK tv series is more disturbing than Ex-Machina movie which I greatly enjoyed: artificial intelligence.
