Best Detective 1 I've seen. Pic is circa 1976:

I just hope Stv Ritter's GA Pedigree book has BIG pics like Richard O'Brien's 1977 The GA of Comic Books book. Here is a sample that was NOT from the bangzoom collection:
-
bangzoom,
Thank u for being so generous in sharing your outstanding collection.
I would like to know if u also branched out into collecting original comic book or comic strip artwork (e.g. Alex Raymond Flash Gordon, Burne Hogarth Tarzan, Hal Foster Prince Valiant, Wally Wood EC, or undergound comix art, Disney animation cels with original painted backgrounds)?

Suspense comics 3 (Continental) will sell all day long in g/vg because it is more affordable than a vf 8.0 or better unrestored copy. Don't think that many collectors want to shell out say $55k ++ for what is essentially a 1-shot semi-key book.

Nice !
Tell me about it. He is the completists completist.
not exactly; you know i reject the two canadian annuals and mpfw.
Not sure why u are rejecting both Canadian b/w Timely annuals. 1 of them (think it was Marvel Mystery) was actually printed in USA. Can't remember which though: either Capt America b/w 1942 or Marvel Mystery b/w 1944.

kudos to ardvark88 who sold me a STRICT VF copy of defenders #1 -Undergraded book is a real beauty that is closer to NM than VF!
Mar-vell,
U may thank greggy as well. This was 1 of his reject funny books a few years ago.

GreatEscape,

# 1051 based on Disney movie 1959:

GreatEscape,
How do u resize the flickr & qoop.com poster preview to under 200,000 byte jpg so we can post image on this forum?

#535 1st I Love Lucy, 1954.

Another yellow starburst from Sept, 1978:

Check out this top banner. Unusual red/white colour printing split from Oct, 1978 with yellow starburst variant:

bluechip,
For myself, I prefer to buy the finished pencil drawing as it shows the creative juices that flowed from the artist's pencil onto the white paper. Also because I am on a budget, the asking price for the finished pencil is usually about 1/2 of the inked cover drawing as the fact that the finished cover was lightboxed is usually left out of any auction listing or online art catalog description.

I bought this MOKF for the great P Gulacy interior artwork. 10p yellow starburst. I like how they spelled "All-colour" using the Queen's English.
-
He previously posted that no DA #1 showed up at the patent office, unfortunately. The bigloo is eBaying 2 b/w ashcans this week from Realistic? comics that I have never heard of before.
-
Cap 1 so I can get it signed by Nic Cage, the Ghost Rider.

How about GA related original art stat Whiz 2 (#1) 1974 Famous First Edition for a mere $200? Roughly 11 x 17 inches on thick artboard in vf 8.0. There is white out over the words Gangway for Capt Marvel.
-
I agree with Chris. There is fresh $ in the market for original comic art. I was going to set a buy it now of $4k on my Marshall Rogers Batman art on eBay last week. It hit $5,100 from a new player in the art market. He remitted via PayPal right away. No cashflow problem there.

I have some late 70s Bruce Lee mags, Kato mib toy from Kaybee Toys, & 1 or 2 Bruce Lee English 1 sheet posters. Last month, I started collecting 2 page b/w illustrated tear sheets/etchings from 1840s graphic illustrated UK or Canadian newspapers. Have 1 of Little Red Riding Hood that is about 140 years old.

Kudos to aardvark88 for an excellent Atom Age book that was well packed, delivered very quickly indeed and looks excellent for the assigned grade (which I agree with!). Many thanks, Allan!!!
Kudos back to Andy goldust40 for a very pleasant UK transaction.

Low grade Lou Fine early robot cover:

I have a coverless copy of True Comics circa 1946 that has page 1 title splash & 1st chapter about the history of Hitler. Don't know issue # though.

Here's the biggest comic Annual ever printed in Australia. About 148 pgs of which 1st 48 are b/w Blackhawk. Published around 1968 as the Curt Swan cover is from Superman 201 (Nov, 1967). Note cover layout is like Romita's Amaz Spidey # 50 (July, 1967).

I have not had a chance to read this long thread, so not sure if this 1942 low grade, reading copy of Detective #65 Simon and KIRBY cover has been posted.
O sage ones, was there ever another GA Batman or Detective comic cover by the titanic team up of Simon and Kirby?
