  1. Thanks everyone. My main collecting goal is to eventually aquire every Action war cover in about mid-grade. (And find a decent copy of Action #13 ) I still have a long way to go.
  2. Thanks guys. Since I got a good response on my 53, here's my 35.
  3. Here's another Action in my collection. To me it looks a little nicer than a 5.0, but what do I know.
  4. Thanks for the links. Several websites there I've never visited before. Here's another: Graham Cracker Comics
  5. Awesome Action #12 & 14. I like #14 along with #8 as being the best non-superman covers. Thanks for posting.
  6. I've always liked those as well. I have Action #17, 22, & 30 which I think all qualify. As far as how I narrow my collecting focus, it isn't easy. With a limited budget, I decided to focus on Action Comics #20 & under and then the war covers only from #21 up. I also have a few other random issues on my wish list mostly due to the cool covers, characters, etc (like Superman #3, U.S.A. #7 and others). That being said, I still break from my focus from time to time when I see a good deal on a nice book.
  7. I think both our #43 & #44 have nice eye appeal for the grade. I've seen some other 3.0-4.5 golden age books look downright awful. Eye appeal if a huge factor in my decision to purchase a book, more so than the actual cgc grade.
  8. Here's my copy of Action #43 cgc 3.0 C/OW pages. Sorry about the file size, for some reason I can't figure out how to resize my scans properly. Bought this raw at Wizard World Chicago about 2 years ago.
  9. Cool More Fun #125. I've never seen one & I didn't know Superman appeared on any of those covers. Does he also appear in a story in the book?
  10. Since other Actions were posted here, I may as well show one of mine. Action #27. One of my favorite covers.
  11. Wow, the colors look great on this one. I've noticed spine roll on many copies of this issue, but the spine on yours is near flawless. A top 5 classic cover of all time. Great collecting grade too - any higher and you'd have to pay a small fortune (I think an 8.5 sold on Comiclink for $8000) Congrats on your purchase.
  12. Great thread! I didn't realize there were so many Peps with Archie appearances that came out before Archie #1. And so many great covers I've never seen before.
  13. The Superman ashcan is my favorite. Anyone know how many exist, when the last recorded sale was, & for how much? What a great piece of history all those old ashcans are!
  14. Congrats Ian. Thats an awesome acomplishment. How did you close your deal, straight cash or trades? It would be interesting to see if DTA's copy suddenly drops in price now.
  15. I was watching that auction too on the All Winners #14. Nice pick up and a great cover! Can't beat that price.
  16. Here's my earliest Action comic. cgc graded 5.0, blue label, with off-white pages.
  17. two things: why is superman swimming? your uncle fought FOR the germans? crazy. I believe Superman didn't have the ability to fly until like 1945 or 46 when DC added this power. Until then, he could just leap tall buildings in a single bound.
