  1. Cool #38. I thought I've seen most of these covers over the years, but I don't recall ever seeing this one. I alos agree, the cover does look like it could be an O'Mealia.
  2. Agree with you on the MM #4. Definitely an underrated, classic cover and first Subby cover ever.
  3. I'm really liking all the Flessel covers. I would like to have seen what he could have done with Superman or Batman covers at the time. Would have been cool to see his interpretation of those heroes.
  4. Awesome MM #20! Most of my favorite Marvel Mystery covers feature the Submariner, and this one's no exception.
  5. I blame Timulty, as he called it issue #27 first. Still a great book. You're right about not seeing the good covers come up for sale very often, as it appears to be a challenging title to collect in any grade.
  6. So how many members are in that cult? You, Timulty.... um, should I stop there? Seriously, those Master Comics Raboy covers are VERY cool. Your #27 is a real nice war cover. Congrats on the pickup!
  7. Really cook Marvel Mystery #46. I wonder how Schomburg came up with this cover concept for this book, as it is a real classic. Nice pickup! The All-Select #1 is a classic/cool issue too. Not many covers out there featured Subby/Torch/Cap in the same image.
  8. Awesome USA #7 there! A hard book to find in nice shape, and it doesn't come up for sale very often in any grade. Classic Cap cover too.
  9. There's a headlights and "the rack of terror" joke in there somewhere. Cool book!
  10. Nice Cap 5 & 37 guys, I like both covers a lot. It's possible the Captain America title had the most consistently awesome covers in the Golden Age. And I don't have any in my collection
  11. Nice pickup buttock! For some reason a Supes 23 was not on my want list at first, but it has definitely grown on me. It is a very unique cover unlike any other Superman cover from that era. And a war cover too. I want one.
  12. Nice pickup action1kid. Shuster did a nice job on that piece. I would imagine original Shuster artwork must be pretty scarce (?).
  13. Thanks for the nice comments Scrooge & thedude! Some day I hope to complete my run and post them all at once. Of the 18 books in the run I'm going after, I currently have 9 of them.
  14. My latest pickup. I'm real happy with this 4.0 with nice eye appeal. Trying to complete a low to mid-grade run of Action 13-30 so this fits in nicely.
  15. A common theme in this thread is ASM #4, so here's my copy. My favorite Ditko ASM cover:
  16. When I first got back into collecting, my goal was to collect all the Ditko Spidey issues. I was about half complete when I discovered Golden Age books, and I switched my collecting focus to GA. I've since sold most of my Spideys, but I did keep a few of my favorite issues like this one:
  17. Both CMA books look real sharp Timulty, & both present even better than the 8.0 copies they are. Cool war theme covers too. Nice pickups
  18. Nice Action 30 The cover feautues a really classic Superman image and is one of the better covers in the run.
  19. Here is the link when it sold on Comiclink quite a while ago and was discussed in an old thread: Action #7 I believe it was determined that it did not have the wrong back cover, but one ad was wrong (the black & white "Midget Racer" ad was incorrect.) Action Comics #7 NEVER comes up for sale, and is a grail to many collectors who can't afford an Action #1. Great pickup!
  20. Wow, awesome piece CW. I'd love to some day have a Mayhew as nice as this one.
  21. Awesome group of Detectives NewForce, especially the #28 which isn't seen to often. What's the grade and resto work done on it?
  22. He threw it like a football, and luckily I have good hands. But did you spike it after you caught it? Noooo, that would have been absurd .... I did the Ickey Shuffle
  23. He threw it like a football, and luckily I have good hands.
  24. Thanks guys. It was the last day of WW Chicago and I was ready to go home without any comic book purchases for the second straight year. I found this one before I left so it was good to go home with something. Harley Yee had a beat up copy of Action Comics #10 I tried to make a cash & trade deal for but in the end I passed on it as the book was really low grade and the pricing a little too high.
  25. No posts in this great thread for a month & a half while the Obadiah thread gets bumped every day So, here's a recent Action Comics #48 pickup that probably belongs in the "post your beaters" thread, but I'll post it here. Obviously low grade with some slight resto, but the price was right and it's not an easy book to find.
