But sometimes the premium price that you pay for a CGC graded comic books is a lot. For example, Mycomicshop currently has ASM 85 9.0 at $425 when Overstreet's Guide has the same issue, same 9.0 conditions at $111. This is $314 more! I am a newbie at serious collecting so please forgive me if this is a stupid question or observation.
Most cgc comics aren't priced at a premium. The ultra high grades have their collectors that buy and keep them slabbed. CGC was started as a direct response to online/mail ordering as a way to show the condition of that book without having to trust the seller. People buy slabbed comics for all kinds of reasons, and a lot of collector's don't keep them slabbed once they're in their collection. Having a comic slabbed is really only a benefit when trying to sell it.

For some reason I don't think this collection will have moxes, you're better off looking for force of wills and wastelands

Thanks for the bump! I posted a few Canadian's in This Thread if anyone wants to check them out.

That's beauty 4.5, I wouldn't have him sign it.

You're looking a lot of work if you don't know any cards yourself. There are plenty of places that you can look up prices, but it'll be time consuming, since a lot of sets from 10+ years ago don't even tell you if the cards are rare(worth more) or not. Here's a list of most of the cards that are worth money from that time period, there are more than this list but this has most of the cards that will most likely be in the collection.

If you have any pictures of some of the collection, I can eyeball it to tell if it's worth going through.
Cheers

Spawn 185 black and white continues to amaze me on the rare occasion it becomes available for sale. A raw copy in fine condition just sold for over a grand on eBay. I think the last sale of a CGC 9.8 was north of $3K according to GPA.
Looks like Todd found a better investment than baseballs

As some of us in true great north knows this weekend is also our Thanksgiving weekend. Today I picked up some parcels with my latest comic books to add into my collection. I'm like a kid at Christmas time!
Or is it Super-Turkey time?
Many thanks to the 2 great boardies - gojira and skypinkblu
Gonna be fun reading some of them this weekend!
I'm so jealous, that picture looks just like the comic collection I had 25 years ago. I loved richie rich and dot more than the fantasy books, but I would take either now!
Super turkey time indeed

Does a small wall in the entire house count? When we bought this house I made a point that my "stuff" would be coming out of the closets. Just today she said maybe you do the exact same thing on the other wall. At any rate here is my work in progress.
I am so jealous of the Unopened Zartan!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I have wanted to buy one of those for years now. They are just a bit too expensive for me right now. When I see that zartan, the second Snake Eyes (visor and wolf), or Storm Shadow (1st), I instantly go back in my mind to playing in my backyard with my brother.
I lost all my GIjoes to the sandbox when I was 10. I remember digging up torso's for years later

Specs aside, I'm digging the first issue a lot! The creepy vibe that Jock delivers is fantastic; my phone vibrated while I was reading the flashback scene and I almost mess myself
. The writing is average so far, but its just world building right now, but the outlook is good. Maybe some of you guys with 30 copies can crack one.

I was really surprised I liked this book; pretty refreshing idea, I really like that they are telling the story of what happens after you come home again. I hope the scope isn't too large and they can keep the story intriguing.

Absolutely loved this book! Hack certainly isn't one at all
I'm on board for the long haul with this one. Loved that they reprinted the Madhouse 22 story, props to Archie, they have me back buying books after a 25 years hiatus.

Ok can we stop talking about wolverine 80 now, thanks.

So here in the Dallas / Ft Worth are, besides being home to the first case of Ebola, we have a chain of stores called Half Price Books. And as you might guess, you can buy used books for half the cover price. Sometimes even less than that. Well these stores also happen to have a section for comic books. Now understand that they don't concern themselves on keep these books in safe condition. And each store keeps their more expensive (usually gold or silver age titles) and explicit books either in a lockbox that you can thrumb though the top or in a box behind the main counter.
I tend to visit the shops within a certain distance about once a month or so, just to see what they have come in. They put out new stuff actually on a daily basis. So today I ventured out to one of the shops in Plano that I hadn't been to in quite a while.
And here is what I got today. Be sure to check the receipt
That's right folks. I actually bought Walking Dead 19 for $1.48 plus tax
I'll give you full cover for that one!

Old school charm! If it wasn't for the comics, could totally imagine smoking a cigar in that room !
Thanks! I tried to make it a place of relaxation for me. I normally work 55 hrs a week besides other activities so it's nice to have a place to really enjoy my collection.
Looks like a great place to unwind!

Love it! The more of these I see the more I want to complete a run.
I am confused! Why do people crack open their CGC graded comics?
