For me I have: full run of Justice League of America plus the three Brave and the Bolds X-Men 94 to 300 entire Conan the Barbarian Avengers 119 to 255 all original 1970’s Swamp Things Im about 6 issues shy of all Marvel Team Ups

So, I bought this on a whim at the Motor City Comic Con a week ago. Thought it would be a NM 9.2 but the crease at bottom corner has a bit of color break (and I wasn't wearing my readers at that moment - note to my older self...lol) I like Roger's brief run on Detective as they tie into when I started collecting around 1978. This morning I opened it up to find two signatures inside. I believe they are Marshall Rogers and Terry Austin's. Pretty cool! Since not witnessed, no idea if they add to value? But I like it no matter what.

As this is where we house all the group's talented work here, this was my latest. Currently at the printer for some prints to be made for my nephews. (Sorry for sideways. Not that way on my PC.) Thanks for letting me share. I'm wrestling with doing another FF one next.

Thanks for the pictures. I went today and found it to be still on the path of a shadow of its former glory. I go every year for the past 29. For comics, this show is really like most local shows that are also cheaper to get into. Once the bigger guys like Bob Storms, Dale Roberts, Superworld, Motor City (for god's sake it was there show), etc stopped coming it really slipped. I still enjoyed myself and found the best deals at Langes (which is normal even at their Muskegon Mall stores). I'm a sucker and optimist for these shows so I'll still go. One thing I do enjoy is just picking up some books not on my list at these smaller shows. Example would be Collector's Zone and the $5 bins. If it reminds me of growing up in the 70's and early 80's, my nostalgia kicks in and I'll buy a few. I did get some books on my list (5 in all - nothing too expensive) and I bought some upgrades. Highlights for me are Conan #15 w/ Elric (upgrade), GS Captain Marvel #1 in a really nice shape, A Roger's Detective #473 (que up the late 70's nostalgia), Man Thing #5 (also nostalgia as I owned the Power Record as a kid. I think it was a Marvel Horror Series as I had Werewolf by Night record, Frankenstein and Tomb of Dracula.), Super-Villain Team-Up #1 and House of Secrets #140 with Patchwork Man (Swamp Thing #3 nostaligia...). Also picked up a nice West Coast Avengers #45 for the heck of it. I wasn't able to make C2E2 this past Spring and I'm really tempted to drive to Baltimore in September for that show. I've heard great things about it. Comic guest list has some of my favorites still with us like Jose Garcia Lopez, Hildebrant, Arthur Adams, etc. Plus some of the bigger dealers.

Great points! I will look at exhibitors and artists ahead of time. Wear comfortable shoes I tend to scout first. Try to find some unique dealers. My trusted go-to’s are Bob Storms and Dale Roberts at bigger shows. I will usually research their websites prior and ask them to bring some books. Bob is excellent at doing that and one of the best graders I know. Bring cash with a budget in mind. Don’t be tempted to exceed with credit cards Want Lists keep me on course but I will by lesser price BA books on a whim.

If any of you do artwork, sometimes you get stuck. Similar to my collection, I have a "completionist's curse". I was working on a Batman and Villains drawing but was stuck for almost a year. There was another idea in my head regarding JLA vs Legion of Doom, Darkseid, etc. So I pulled the Batman off the drawing board and went to work on this one. Pretty much flowed out and didn't take me long. Thought of Perez and his way to incorporate some nay characters. (Poor man's version...) Black & white version plus the final colored one. As always, thanks for letting me share it here! Sorry for the sideways pictures! They are normal view in my PC...

What caught my eye with the Spidey on the cover. Looks like a model that I had in the late 70's. You'd put a sticky glue substance on the hand and feet to stick to the wall. Naturally, glue gave way and he fell multiple times and finally broke. I've never seen that model kit listed anywhere since.

Nice thread! During the early to mid-70's, I was reading things like Richie Rich, Hot Stuff, etc. By I hadn't caught the "collecting bug" just yet. At 10, I remember while visiting my grand-parents in Adrian, MI, I was drawn to this Aquaman book (DC Superstars #7) at the local drugstore. I can't tell you how many times I read it. (Still have it but also upgraded versions). But I still didn't know about collecting perse. Head into the next summer (1977 - Summer of Star Wars!) and a friend shows me his X-Men 107. I read it and was struck by Wolverine. Cut to 1978 and my best friend and I stumble across JLA 156. Looks cool as there are lots of heroes. But he mentions that people actually collect these things and so it begins. I start right away with JLA, World's Finest, DC Comics Presents, and others but don't make the immediate leap to X-Men even though I thought they were great. It wasn't until X-Men 138 that I thought this "opened the door" for me to jump in vs mid-stream on a story line. (I was 14 I think... lol) Little did I know #141 was right around the corner and would blow me away with that storyline. Followed Byrne to FF and started collecting that title as well. I bought new books up until 1984 when I stopped during college. Got rid of a third of my collection from 1985 - 1988 to fund going to concerts. (Only one I regret in hindsight was Spiderman 129 which I had found in an old room at a family friends house in 1980 and they said I could have it. Probably only a VG to F but worth more now. lol) Jumped back into the hobby in 1994 as I had a career, wife and house. Friend convinced me to go to Motor City Comic Con. I saw JLA 3 and 30 and they were only $40 altogether. What appeared unattainable as a kid was in reach! And with that, I continue today with over 5500 books. I stopped buying new comics in 2014. Too much space taken up. Still enjoy my hobby. My wife finds it amusing I know the value of the collection but never will sell anything nor have any desire at this point. I'm sentimental so they stick with me.

Kingdom Come - for me, if I re-read it more than once, it had a great storyline and art. This checked those boxes. Thought it was the best series in the 90's Miller's Dark Knight - not a huge fan of Miller's art but love his layout style and story. Gripping and set a tone for Batman for decades

I remember buying this at Lindau Drugstore in Sylvania, OH. Thought it was great! I think my copy is only a 7.0 to 8.0 due to my younger self. Love the "Live & Let Die" homage cover

I've found the Ikea "Kallax" work very well, look good and are relatively inexpensive. Note I tend to group the Omnibus' near the bottom (thicker ends) where I can, especially if grouped together. I use them for my "normal" (literary) books as well.

I tried them a number of years ago. Grading wasn't consistent. Don't need that aggravation in my life so I moved on. Maybe a graded book in the future? Plus I find their site a bit clunky.

Great question. Mine are a continuation of my completionist curse. I need about 6 issues to complete my Marvel Team Up run (all 9.2 or better). Maybe complete small batches like Champions run, 6 issues of Brave & the Bold to have 95 - 200, 5 issues of FF to have 160 - 300, 8 issues to complete the Invaders (some of the worst art of the 1970's... lol) . All in all, no "grails" at this juncture unless World's Finest 71 pops up.

6.0 to 6.5 - nice book! My first I bought 20 years ago came back a PLOD 7.0... bummed. But I bought a good one (9.2) about 8 years ago from Dale Roberts.
