  1. Sounds good to me. We "Timely" lovers have to stick together!
  2. 48 Grew up with Silver Age and have since grown to love the Golden Age even more! I'll take a scarce book over a "Ubber-Grade" book any day of the week!
  3. Go easy,.......I'm sure he paid through the nose for them!
  4. They rate relative scarcity on a scale of 1-10, 1 being extremley common (Spawn #1, for example) to 10 being "Does it even exist?"
  5. Well I don't want to repeat what has already been done. We can just keep this thread to discussion. My relative inexperience with the boards has been revealed! Here you go, Mark! Gerber No-Shows Thread
  6. Wow! I'd say you did very well with this book! Classic cover & The book looks great! I guess the couple of finger prints on the back cover knocked it down, 'cause it looks VF to me! How much did you save, as opposed to the Metro $1,200.00 price?
  7. There's only 8 known copies (there's still a 9th copy suspected? Still wonder about that one. Apparently there was a Theatre owner who recalled seeing this book when they were trying it out, therefore a suspected copy), and it's The very first printed apperance of the Sub-Mariner by Bill Everett! Guide: G $ 4,400.00 VG $ 7,700.00 F $ 11,000.00 VF $ 16,500.00 VF/NM $ 22,250.00 NM $ 28,000.00 Covers 2-4 (The set) $1,000.00 ......but that's just guide!
  8. That book is amazing! I've never seen it before. What a great cover, it's got a little bit of everything!
  9. Great idea for a thread, Jon! Thanks for contributing your articles as well. Good stuff!
  10. Do you have any information about the actual find? I understand that there was one near mint copy with the others all being of the same grade. My information was that the other copies all had frayed spines. Any idea how many copies of covers #2-4 were found? Thanks.
  11. Jon, Is your copy restored and what do you know about the actual find of the Motion Picture Funnies weekly?
  12. I hear ya' POV. Only THIS time we'll be fightin' over the same books.... Should be fun. Ahhh! The Purple Claw is unleashed! The gauntlet is thrown! But it WILL be fun! Ill throw a bunch of guitar pics in one corner of the room and a deep dish pizza in the other - then all your books be MINE............. An Evil plan,......simple but effective,......Good Job!
  13. I'd say it's Ditko. The hands and the webbing look like only he could've done it. Nice books!
