We have a ME submission that was Received on 2/10 still sitting at SFG. We called last week about it and got the runaround. This is the second issue we've had on this book that was originally submitted under the Standard tier back in October.

MECHANICAL ERROR (3 BOOKS)
Delivered to CGC: 12/27/2022
Will update as the books progress through the system.
SFG: 1/04/23
Grading/QC: 1/26/23
SHIPPED: 1/26/23
We called about this order today because the grades weren't posted. The order was damaged at CGC and was supposed to be pressed and re-graded. Come to find out the order wasn't pressed or re-graded but only reholdered. The books were pulled from shipping today. Looks like it'll be another month of waiting on a standard tier submission that was originally delivered to CGC in October. 🤦♂️

I have seen the opposite. Since November I have moved all the slabs I had listed on eBay that were sitting for several months, and some at all time GPA highs. Right now I have a timing issue with getting new submissions graded and not having enough new stock to list.
My leftover summer/fall Clink submissions that are ending this week started off slowly tonight - the ASMs sold for below GPA there while I am getting GPA or higher on ASMs on eBay.
Thanks for the info. We haven't dealt with ebay in 5+ years so I'm not sure about that market. Glad to hear there is some movement.

An observation.. we've noticed that slab sales have slowed across most platforms over the past 6 months. With that said, we're achieving some of the best prices we've ever seen on raw books in our auctions. Almost every dealer I know that doesn't deal in nosebleed books has stated the same. Raw books are flying off the shelf and the slabs are sitting collecting dust.

Lots start closing @ 6 PM CST! Good luck to all bidders.

The direct edition is a Barry Windsor-Smith cover of Valiants X-O Manowar.
The newsstand edition is a Bart Sears cover of DCs Flash.
Both labels read "Barry Windsor-Smith cover " , with no mention of the newsstand status.
Git it now?
I've very rarely seen CGC notate a newsstand version on the label even when it's noted on the submission form.

According to what I have read, you still pay taxes on the $200 profit, but you can't deduct for the loss to even them out - which would be disasterous to practically everyone. It reads as if you can't claim an expense because it's not a capital asset if it's a loss, only if it's a profit. But, that just might be me missing something.
It seems that if it does work that way, that sets a incredibly dangerous precedent at such a low priced threshold. You can't claim a loss on selling your car or boat, but those have established depreciation. Establishing depreciation on comic books, art, records, baseball cards and whatever else seems like it's opening a very scary, convoluted door. Or perhaps they are just saying that *everything* you buy as a non-business entity can only be used as a tax liability, not a deduction. And if that is the case, when does some bunny-brained politician start floating this at businesses - or worse, at small businesses? It's a slippery slope in my view.
I'm trying to get a little more educated, as this is my primary question to the accountant when we talk with them in the next few months.
You should definitely talk to an accountant.
