  1. Ya think? That would be f'n' outstanding! I love my book.. and don't have any immediate plans to part with it, but as I enter my 50's I'm starting to think more about retirement.. and what I should start to liquidate towards that end. Best, Geoff I just sold GAtor's 6.5 copy, so he's right. ;- )
  2. CGC has always been a little easy on this book - either that or the scans just amplify the wear because of the darker cover colors.
  3. Looks like Foolkiller's copy unless he sold it since his acquisition of it last year.
  4. Hulk #1 did not decline in higher grades, nor did AF #15. But mid grade copies of AF #15 that were selling north of $50K are now selling south of $40K. Hulk #1 did exactly the same thing. People over analyze the market too much in the digital age. It happens in every market. The stock market does this all the time with algorithmic buying and selling now. As soon as they see one copy sell for a strong number, everyone who wants a copy rushes in and throws silly money at a copy before they get too expensive. Then they realize that they're paying a lot for a book and back off and the market corrects. And this over analyzing is what causes all of the volatility. In the old days, prices just rose steadily because there was no over analysis.
  5. And Amazing Fantasy #15 did exactly the same thing this year. That's a normal market pattern when something goes up too high, too quickly.
  6. It had one a few years ago. The book nearly doubled in price in 2014. If books keep increasing at the rate they have been the past few years you can bank on the crash of the hobby. It's not healthy for anything to increase that quickly. The book has been steadily rising over time. I'm not sure what anyone else can ask for.
  7. Same reason Spider-man and Thor were put in tryout magazines, Superman didn't appear again on a cover until Action #7, etc, etc. These were garbage mags meant to be thrown away. Nobody knew Dr. Strange would have a movie that everyone would have to cash in on 55 years later.
  8. Thanks, guys! As I said, one of my faves of all time.
  9. Fair points. I skimmed the thread quickly but I give a lot of weight to the BC boardies that I respect.
  10. This is going to be interesting. It's questionable whether they will allow it to happen or not at this point but this is a mega monopoly at this point.
  11. IMHO it falls into a gray area. It's not right that the LCS sold them knowing they were stolen. But it's not right either that they are expected to guard and keep safe said property for months. The OP's story was that the comic book store called the police multiple times asking about the status and received no reply. If the police want the stolen goods looked up for safe keeping for months, they should have taken said goods and put them in the police evidence lock up. Was it months? Personally, what the store did is BS. They had a moral obligation to clear the books before selling them. Did they contact the owner of the stolen books before they sold them? No. Completely shady and they should be on the hook.
  12. Well, there's a footnote to that auction, it's the Fantucchio pedigree, that have been going for nearly 1.5 - 2x other comps in many cases. Doesn't mean this price is wrong etc., just that the 9.2 at auction is no ordinary 9.2 -- the colors on it are exceptional and it's a white pager. There's a 9.0 in the same C-Link auction. While I agree that Fantucci copies are fetching stronger than average prices for common books (and let's face it, most SA books are fairly common), when it comes to tough books I knew a few people (that you know as well) that are chasing this book for their personal collections simply because it's a 9.2 and tough in grade. I know at least one for sure is not putting any weight on the Fantucci designation. It's up to $3500 with a week to go, BTW. http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Ddaredevil%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1215893&id=1215893&itemType=0
  13. Here is a photo of the book. As you can see it has really nice cover inks and much better than the scan shows.
  14. Bob, I appreciate it. The new slabs, because they are thicker hold the book higher up off the glass and therefore higher from the scanner lighting making the book look washed out. It's an unfortunate side effect of the new holder. It seems to happen to dark covers predominantly. I did make mention of it in my listing. In hand the inks look deeper and richer. I'm going to have to find a new scanner I suppose.
  15. They have. I've spoken to a couple of people about the book. Still available. I priced the book to the best of my ability with no recent comparables but I am easy to work with so feel free to hit me up with any questions.
  16. Daredevil #7 CGC 9.4 OWW pages. Extremely difficult to find in high grade, this is the toughest book of the run. This copy is fresh from a new collection, perfectly centered and has no glaring defects. Cover colors are better in person than in the scan as my scanner tends to fade the cover in the new slabs because they sit higher off the glass. Photograph added to show deep cover inks. There hasn't been a 9.4 sale that I know of in years but a 9.6 just sold for $33K in 2017. A 9.2 sold for $2345 2 years ago. Asking $9950
  17. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.
  18. Just picked this up for inventory. I normally don't post in the club threads but this book happens to be one of my faves of all time.
  19. He did. And he had crazy lats for the period. But he was relatively short and it's much easier to sculpt a short body than it is a long one. That's why Sergio Olivia and Arnold were so impressive back in the day. They were tall and thick.
  20. There is no way that is real. The photo looks touched.
