  1. Some books resold through Heritage. I thought that the books were being held as evidence but I don't know for sure. Maybe some GA guys have the answers.
  2. i was there when the books turned up. It was the story of the show.
  3. If you haven't read it, it's a wonderful read. Comic Conman A true crime tale of comic books, corruption, and a $9 million vanishing act Well, there seems to be a new addition. DA investigator sentenced to five years for comic book theft You couldn't write fiction this good.
  4. The crease si razor thin and about 2 inches across the corner. It's really hard to see even with the slab in hand. You won't see it in a scan. It's nearly invisible. The book has the eye appeal of an 8.0/8.5 in hand so you're really getting bang for the buck with this copy.
  5. X-men #1 CGC 7.0 OWW - great FC eye appeal, BC crease lower left keeps the grade down. Asking $8000 SOLD!
  6. Price includes shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Consider all books pressed. All books with new CGC labels are in the latest, non-pressurized cases. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described.
  7. Books fall through the cracks all the time. I wanted to bid on some Clink books (including the FF #1) but was in Seattle, so a different time zone. By the time I got to my hotel the auction was over. If I was back home that book would not have ended below $100K the way it did the other night. I also missed on the MMC #4 and #9 (two of my favorite books of all time). I wouldn't write off FF #1 over one low auction.
  8. Looks like it has a $230K bid on it.
  9. I think that is 9.2 price territory, personally.
  10. VF range is where things change for those two books. In 7.5 Showcase #4 fetches more, in 8.0 Hulk #1 was an $80K book in VF before SC #4 was and might be a $100K book now while I don't think SC #4 is and in 8.5 and up the Hulk #1 starts to handily pull away.
  11. What's your browser/device/screen resolution, Vintage? Mozilla, Laptop, 1600 x 900 screen resolution Just to be clear, I preferred the old full page list of PMs and full page PM while reading. Not a fan of the new format where every page requires scrolling because all new formatting is tall and narrow.
  12. I never doubted you'd be open to conversation and it's good that you put that out there. Maybe some of the locals can talk to their favorite dealers and work with you in moving forward in a way the benefits everyone.
  13. It's very possible that these books were upgradeable and that was the reason for the high prices. Many of the books are not rare and were available else where so there really isn't a logical reason for them to sell at multiples of FMV.
  14. Kevin, I've heard negative things since Informa has taken over both the Boston show and the Orlando show. If keeping comic dealers in the show were a priority I think some people feel that it isn't. Dealers being moved out of traditional spots, dealers losing spots. I run a business and totally understand how business works but maintaining a pro comics stance takes work from both sides. The dealers I spoke to who have supported those shows for years don't all feel like the shows are trying to keep them comic centric. That's just my two cents. As a spectator, my observation is that those two shows were terrific buying shows for me in the past and in recent years they have not been.
  15. It's not uncommon to have 7 figures (or close to it) tied up in inventory if you're traveling as an international dealer to big shows. That's what it takes to be in the big times.
  16. That book has been going up exponentially for years. I think I sold my good looking 2.0 for $4K+ about two years ago.
