  1. YYZ is awesome, but La Villa Strangiato would be unreal. Long time Rush fan here. I've also worked on both Geddy Lee's cars (in two different shops) and also helped restore Alex Lifeson's e-Type Jag. Also dropped a car off at Geddy's house as teenager. Love La Villa Strangiato even more than YYZ. Has anybody told you lately that "You are awesome". I will remind myself the next time you are in my presence that I am standing next to the mechanic that worked on Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson's cars. Not just a mechanic Bob, a Mercedes Benz mechanic Get your facts straight Jim A Mercedes Benz mechanic that can't construct a stage out of wood... If I wasn't going to be locked up grading, I'd offer....just need some 2/4s, some plywood, screws and a screw gun most likely... Carpenter love fest, going on here there is. The ability to build is not the issue. It's the time and location
  2. You didn't find GNR's reunion tickets for the small show at the Troubador on Stubhub either, did you?
  3. Hey, that pic is old. And I had a way cool belt to show off. There's never an excuse. Now, yesterday or tomorrow. Skateboards are dumb.

  5. For a costume during some of the 70's songs on the night of the show I'm leaning towards some white 1970's tights with flared bottoms and tassels down the sides of the legs. Maybe some blue glitter as well on the sides of the legs. Then a matching, satin blue top with large collar and an open V neck down to my navel. Top it off with a large white belt (massive buckle on the front) and a pair of high heel shoes. Thoughts?
  6. I can't stand them. That explains why I didn't like the movie.
  7. I think what a lot of people dont realize, is that JJ is a completely different genre. If one goes to watch expecting it to be more Daredevil with a different lead, then it could come across as boring. It is absolutely NOT an Action genre show. It is a psychological thriller/serial killer genre show. Part of what they want to do, is have their movies and shows cover all genres, and do them well, each in its own arena. JJ is a very intellectually complex show about control, abuse, trauma, healing, etc. There is a ton going on in what comes across as 'slow' when its being viewed as an analog to Daredevil. Honestly, I think a University Film department could do an entire course on JJ and its themes. It's a superbly made and acted show, but definitely not a sit back and watch the action happen type. Luke Cage from what I have read is going to also be entirely different (from JJ and DD) in how it approaches its action beats as well. A lot more people getting obliterated then JJ, which should make it "exciting", but far less complex choreographed sets(a la DD) and more just steamrolling through stuff. I would wager IronFist goes full in for a Bruce Lee Kung-Fu movie feel. It should be the most similar to Daredevil in terms of action. I wasn't comparing it to a Daredevil action flick. I'm also aware that it's supposed to be creepy, etc. The capture a lot of that, from the opening musical theme to the softcore gore to Kilgrave's character. There's enough sexuality in it to almost make it like a soft core porn film (although it was kind of cool to try and see how two superhumans would go at it), but I always just see sexuality in comics as cotton candy for fanboys...much like all the bikinies in Suicide Squad. And some of the acting isn't the greatest (not loving GI Joe). And I guess part of it is that I'm not very familiar with the Jessica Jones character and don't find the show very enticing.
  8. So let me understand this. White pages do not command a premium according to you but CGC books automatically do. When generalizations suit your point they are OK. When they don't they are not OK. I just want to show your hypocrisy and why many people don't bother engaging with you any more. I'll just disagree with your points and leave it at that.
  9. When I buy a book, I value it with the grade I would place on it, regardless of what the label says or who printed it. I realize that I'm an above average grader but there are plenty of others that do the same. And there are also plenty who don't care what the book looks like.
  10. If only there was some sort of magic device that allowed you to type the words "carpenters in Rosemont IL" and a bunch of answers instantly appeared on the glowing screen of said magic device. I'm looking for someone here who might be attending the show and willing to possibly work for comics. Not all of us are able to afford vacation properties on other continents. Some of us are looking to save a buck. It's not anything big, we just need a small problem solved. If I can't find someone here in the next few days I'll look into Google.
  11. That's actually not a true statement. They don't always. CGC prices vary as well. You never see GPA lows for CGC graded books? Nobody is going to lay out 8.5/9.0 money expecting a lower grade but just as it happens with almost books, CGC or not, people buy the book and not the label.
  12. Yes, that is pretty funny. But does anyone actually know a carpenter in Rosemont, IL that can build a simple platform for me?
  13. Most delivery companies have a cut off point for sigs. I thin for Fed Ex if the declared value is less than $100 they will just drop it at the front door.
  14. Anybody out there a rough carpenter that is in the Chicago area and is planning on possibly attending the music show? I need some freelance work in the way of a very simple thing made up for the show and I'd be willing to either pay or trade for comics. Just need a 50 foot riser for us to climb. Very easy, peasy. Just kidding. Need a small platform made up. Anybody? Drop me a PM.
  15. I haven't read this story but I do know that the customer is NOT always right.
  16. Did anyone else find Jessica Jones a little boring? Almost like they are trying to stretch out a thin story? I'm about halfway through and feel this way. Maybe DD was more acceptable because I kind of knew where they were going with it? So far not very impressed with JJ, although I do find Kilgrave creepy as heck.
  17. One thing I will say is that all the teenagers I know liked it and the adults didn't.
  18. The movie stank. I felt like I was watching a Saturday afternoon C movie that was trying to hard to impress me and spoon fed me everything including the kitchen sink along the way. Way too much shoved into one movie (like the ASM movie with Sandman and Venom ) and not enough quality writing. It rivaled BvS as a bomb IMO and they could have made a much better movie with half the story. Why does DC feel the need to rush and push out this tripe? They can slow it down, milk the DC universe for great characters and great stories and assemble a cohesive screen universe over time. Instead, they're rushing it and putting out B movies. Killer Croc? Horrible. Boomerang? Who cared? The punk rock Joker and Harley angle? OK, they made it a bit more contemporary but I still thought it was hokey. And I just didn't see enough of the Joker to 'buy' Leto's version of him. Previous Jokers stole the entire movie. This one didn't. Suicide Squad was just a wet dream for fanboys with girls in tight bikini outfits and Jared Leto teased to have the girls pony up and buy tickets. Sorry, did not like much about it.
  19. Strangely enough, we needed a bass player up until two weeks ago. Our bass player is named James Hazley and he's a long time friend of John's who is collaborating with John on a cover album. Band is called These Grey Men. https://www.facebook.com/thesegreymen/
