  1. In January 30th of December. But January sounds so much further. I should have just said in 2015 to really give it a poke. Sorry, Roy.
  2. I had always understood the 30 day period to also signify that there was an expectation that both parties would try to sort it out before making it a public issue here. Since the moment it becomes public here, names named etc, it means more drama and distraction for everybody. Once 30 days has elapsed, the wronged party can at least say they tried to get compliance before going to court, so to speak. What bothers me is that he hasn't even communicated in 30 days. He has just read PMs and not replied for a month. Personally, I think 30 days with no communication is very different than two people trying to work through a problem for 30 days. And I agree with some boardies that 30 days is far too long anyway. 1 week is usually plenty to either communicate or solve a problem. 2 weeks is LOTS of time to sell a book to raise funds if you need to. It's what I always did. 30 days is ridiculously long to solve a problem, IMO. That's layaway and 'charge interest' territory. Again, I fully agree that I should have taken a down payment and worked out the terms, but you live and learn. Hindsight is always glaringly obvious.
  3. It gets more complicated. The last communication I had with the guy on October 17, he said payments would start in November. We didn't specify an actual day. I just assumed it would be somewhere around the start or middle of November as he said he had to finish off time payments with another board member in October. Like I said, with board members in good standing I tend to be pretty lax and give them the benefit of the doubt. Heck, if he just said he regretting buying the book the day after it wouldn't have been a big deal but I haven't heard from him in a month now. I've edited my current PM to him (and I've told him I've edited it, it's still unread) to let him know that if I don't hear back from him that he's eligible for PL. I guess we'll see what happens. I do take responsibility for not taking collateral or negotiating an actual start time. So much for handshake agreements.
  4. You could mind your own business and get on with yours. Too easy? Thank you. Brock, sometimes I wonder why you even bother posting. If you don't like the conversation just ignore and leave. There's several reasons why I started this thread, this is one of them. This is another one. It's not that the book is all that much in the grand scheme of things (although it is expensive by anybody's standards), it's that it is a less common but specialized book that I turned away several potential buyers on when I thought we had a deal. Getting those other buyers interested in the book again can be challenging, especially once they've moved on to something else. Finally, it's just the principle of it. All communication was done through PM and was marked as read, except for the last (4th) one I sent last night.
  5. I'm going to have a raw sales thread in the next couple of days with some sweet pre hero Atlas, some pre code Atlas, a couple of Nedor books and whatever else I can find that is related. I expect about 20 or so books. Nothing that should be under a Fine / 6.0 grade and some of them will be very nice, meaning VF range. Possibly nicer. I want to be fair with everyone interested so please, no PM's.
  6. I figured it was a boardie in decent standing (he's bought a few books) and didn't think it was necessary. Might be a good idea for the future regardless of the buyer's rep.
  7. Why do you have to wait another month? Terms specified when payment was to be made. There's no automatic grace period, is there? Because the deal was struck a month ago but the first payment was actually supposed to be within the next week or so.
  8. I guess I'm just annoyed that he's strung me along for a month and I have to wait another before nominating.
  9. I am curious how to handle this is a PL offense as we're nearly at one month with no communication from the buyer, and although money has not started to change hands (it was due anytime now) it's starting to look like the seller has no intention of following through. 3 unanswered messages over 4 weeks is a pretty strong signal to send.
  10. The terms (his offer) was a pre set amount every month until it was paid off. About 4 months total. I accepted his offer. There was also mention by the buyer of using a book of his for collateral until the purchase was finalized. Something I didn't feel the need to pursue.
  11. Kind of an unusual situation and looking for input. I had a guy agree to purchase a book a few weeks ago but time payments were requested and they were to start in about a month from the time that the agreement was made, so about mid November. After 3 follow up emails over a period of nearly 4 weeks to confirm that time payments were going to start mid November I haven't heard back (PMs have all been read, board member is posting fairly regularly, none have been replied to). I have sent one last email tonight to see if the boardie plans on following through with the transaction. So far I have heard nada. Now, I realize that officially time payments weren't to start until about now (a month after the agreement was struck) but does anyone else think it odd that I haven't heard a word back? Thoughts?
  12. I never assess page quality on a book that I am submitting for grading because unless it's brittle or Tan (and I've rarely submitted those) the books are getting graded regardless. I simply assess the grade of the book. White pages are easy to nail. It's when the spectrum is no longer perfectly white that it becomes more difficult. It's all shades of grey after that.
  13. Except that CGC page colour notation is not every consistent. So I put very little weight on it. Why can't the same argument be applied to the grade ? The difference between a 9.2 and 9.4 may simply be the day of the week so why pay more for the 9.4 ? Because paper quality is generally more subjective than grade.. Paper quality is a subtle graduation in colour while most grade related defects are objective and quantifiable. Grade does change, but not nearly as much as PQ in my opinion.
  14. Except that CGC page colour notation is not every consistent. So I put very little weight on it.
  15. Homeland? Much bigger role than she had in Firefly. Walking Dead is literally the only show I've followed for the past few years. Unless I get stuck listening to Duck Dynasty or Survivor when everyone else has it on. There are plenty of shows I'd like to watch but I don't want to get sucked into them so I just avoid altogether.
  16. Never saw Firefly. I rarely watch TV and haven't for over a decade. There are a ton of great shows out there but I don't want to get addicted to them. Life has too much going on to just watch TV. I'm giving Gotham a try because of the source material. Only other show I will watch is Walking Dead. Other than that, it's a movie once in a while.
  17. If that's what you get from my post...
  18. You can't stop the Goat! Honestly, that episode last week wanted to make me gag, it was so poorly done. The fight scenes were poorly choreographed and looked like Walter Mathau and Jack Lemmon locked in battle in Grumpy Old Men, the editing was terrible (at one point Gordon was facing in one direction and then the camera cuts to another angle and Gorden magically changes direction like the Flash), Gordon's facial expressions never change - he's a terrible actor IMO, and the dialogue in general read like a 1940's serial drama - corny and stifled. I'm giving last night's episode (DVR'd) one last shot and if it stinks as much, I'm dropping it. I'm trying really hard guys, but this show just makes me want to
  19. She looks like Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang theory to me.
  20. I thought the original Blade Runner was timeless as it stands.
  21. I actually regretting selling that book once Jimbo took it. I was literally logging in to remove it from the sales thread and keep it when I saw the book had sold. Glad you're happy with it! (thumbs u
