  1. Acc. to GPA SC #22 in 7.0 was a $2000 book from 2002-2007, then there is a $9000 sale in 2009 and then it went back to being a $6000-7000 book in 2012. Just follow the graph. It's still at a strong number compared to 2007. People lose perspective when focusing on the movie run-up. When you look at it, that is QUITE and increase in only 5 years (from 2007-2012). An the price, while lower than before, during and immediately after the movie, it never went back to the lows prior to the flick. I'm saying I think it would never have risen that fast without the movie stimulating the market. But I think you made the point very well with your research. B+B #28 did a similar run-up. I think it has more to do with SA Marvels breaking out in 2006 in the Overstreet guide and their price explosion and then the lower valued DC books catching up than the movie itself. I think the movie simply caused the blip from 2009-2012.

  3. I hear ya,but the only difference is Spider-Man and X-men were still huge at the box office. Green Lantern was lukewarm at best. We will see another Ted movie before we see another Green Lantern movie. Who really cares if there is a movie or not,if you love the character, and you want the 1st appearance.Isn't that what matters? Bob-a-loo wanted to know why Showcase #22 has had soft prices of late. I am pretty sure the movies now control the market,as Avengers #1 and #4 are big examples of this. It is what it is. Iron Man #55 will now go on to unseen prices. Movie prices don't control the market. The simply create some volatility. Most of the volatility is probably created by speculators pushing up prices to see how high they will go before the stop rising. Then they hold and sell on the way down. A Showcase #22, Avengers #1, 4 and IM #55 are still key books and retain a lot of their value after the movie disappears. They don't drop to below where they were before the movie.
  4. Yup. Me and Transplant. All for charity. So Who won It's not the end of the year yet. Hard to tell. Yeah. It's going to come down to the wire. Everyone likes a good nail biter.

  6. If you rely on just a black light you're going to miss a heck of a lot of colour touch. Not all colour touch shows up with a black light. Or maybe you didn't read the thread.
  7. By training your naked eye to see it. Once you recognize what to look for it jumps out at you. Special lights don't always catch it.
  8. Glad I got a copy but I was actually after the second copy Peewee bought from Brent.
  9. Strange, I don't know that I've ever noticed bad hands by Baker.
  10. That is gorgeous. Look at how fluid the clothing is on those people and how natural they look while standing there.
  11. There will be more. He's a serial thief. Good luck!
  12. San Frans are scary nice books...often comparable to the Edger Church books.
  13. I was offered the original art to that cover recently. Guy was asking $50K. I thought it was a little on the high side even for such a terrific cover.
  14. Has he read the PMs where you've tried to contact him?
  15. Did you guys all read this thread (especially my last 2 posts)? It's pretty important.
  16. might be best asking in Comics general. They are based in the U.S I'm a dink. For some reason I thought it was a UK customer.
  17. While I understand how many people feel about Matt he does bring a serious repertoire of comic knowledge and specifically grading knowledge to the table. I actually hadn't thought about that until someone mentioned it to me today.
  18. Just a well deserved and I think important bump on this thread. The buyer who this thread is about, who people have had difficulty with in the past, who travels on eBay under multiple names seems to generally have an eBay account registered to the name Armen/Armend/Armand Sahakian Well, I've just gotten wind that this person allegedly has initiated multiple lawsuits from the state of Pennsylvania against several different eBay sellers accusing them of not delivering comics as promised. Good standing, trustworthy eBay sellers at that. The M.O. seems to be a pattern of purchasing expensive books, then not allegedly paying (or possibly paying only for some books but not all) and disappearing with no communication for very lengthy periods of time (sometimes years) and then comes after sellers for "not delivering" products. Presumably he's doing this so that people can forget about deals and lose tracking info so that once he comes after you you can't prove the books were delivered. Whatever it is, if you've dealt with this person it might be prudent to dig up your tracking info if he hasn't left positive feedback. I've done an email search for the name Armen and see that I sold him a book which he paid for on May 15/2012 uner his eBay name lagiant888 and I just realized he never left me feedback for it. These are some previous aliases he's used. adsahakian1 armenookie dddsahakian texastoast008 Anyhow, I thought it was prudent to share in case someone needed to know.
  19. Which Overstreet changes ever went out with a memo, trumpets and a march? But it wasn't Overstreet who changed it? And CGC stated that they were broadly following Overstreet guidelines, sooooooo.... I'm too tired to keep doing this. A good arse-kicking can do that. No, arse is not kicked. Taking on a 1/2 dozen different conversations at once can get you real tired, though. As I mentioned, Overstreet likely changed their designation of pressing being resto because pressing was originally grouped with other procedures, much like it was designated on CGC labels simply because it was done with a wash. So where was it that Overstreet mentioned pressing as resto? I just checked my 33rd OSPG and I wasn't able to see it under the Resto section. And while CGC "broadly followed Overstreet's guidelines" many knew or quickly found out that they veered off in some areas.
  20. Hey gang, any of you ever dealt with arsenal_united on eBay? If so, can you drop me an email address for them? It would be appreciated. R.
