  1. It would have gone for more if I wasn't on the phone with a friend when the auction started.
  2. Picked up a decent, mid grade copy of Whiz #20 last week in Boston from Marc Nathan which whittles down my want list to two issues...#6 and #7. I'll post a scan when I get a chance. (thumbs u
  3. Just checked GPA and the Census...no recorded sales of any book above 8.5...only one book in 8.5 recorded sold in Feb of this year for $2746 ( seems like a deal!)... BLUE LABEL CENSUS 2 in 9.4 1 in 9.2 2 in 9.0 5 in 8.5 8 in 8.0 Now that's a tough book!! I listed my old 8.0 on Comiclink years ago at what I thought was a strong price (I think it was about $2100 or so) and someone BINd it within hours. I found out just recently that it was a board member of ours. Truly is an impossible book, especially with decent pages and white cover stock. Many copies seem to have tanning and darker pages.
  4. #84 has always been a tough book. I passed on an 8.5 a couple of years ago (Korvac owns it now) and I wish I hadn't. It's one of those books that is truly irreplaceable in higher grades.
  5. Yup. It's like using the bible to settle an arguement about Christianity. Silly. Analogy fail. Not really, the only thing we have for reference is the written word on both subjects.
  6. Exactly. Hulk was as mad as a hornet by this time in the fight, and couldn't budge Superman. If Supes wanted he could have squashed Hulk like a little green bug By all means, let's use a random panel from a comic book taken out of context to support our argument that Superman is stronger. How absurd - using comic book panels to bolster comic book arguments that are ultimately up to comic book writers. Yep. Renders the whole argument moot. Yup. It's like using the bible to settle an arguement about Christianity. Silly.
  7. Because some people enjoy comics more than they do plastic.
  8. Ya, I can't see why there is even a discussion. If there is no kryptonite then Superman is completely indestructable. Plus Superman is MUCH smarter and FASTER (think Flash) and can avoid any I blow the Hulk might try to lay on him. What if he just carries him into space? Doesn't Hulk need air? Hulk can hold his breath for a long time but not indefinitely. This is just a discussion on strength though. Hulk is human. Supes isn't. It's really that simple. Thor is a God. End of discussion. Roy, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"! If we're talking 1964, Thor has had trouble taking down the Hulk. If we're talking today, well, continuity and powers have changed so many times, I don't even know anymore.
  9. Hulk has evolved into a stronger and stronger being through the years (I think it culminated in the Secret Wars, didn't it?) but I can imagine Superman moving a planet out of it's natural orbit. I just can't picture Hulk doing that no matter how much I love the character.
  10. Superman. Like someone said earlier he was the gold standard when it came to raw strength. As much I love the Marvel universe, Supes is tops when it comes to strength.
  11. WOW - very jealous of that book - amazing pick-up! Super-sweeet 9.4 White-pager Dan! POP-ART PRODUCTIONS! As a young 12 year old kid whenever I saw a Marvel on a back issue wall with POP-ART PRODUCTIONS on it, it meant AWESOME! I still have that association today.
  12. The 9.4/9.6 prices seem to rise in tandem...traditionally 9.4 copies have sold for 1/2 of what 9.6 copies sell for, or visa versa. So if one sells the other adjusts to that price spread. As far as 8.5 prices, that GPA sale @ $12K was ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. I don't know which copy that was but it was either fugly or the buyer got lucky, as he bought that CGC 8.5 book at basically what is almost 8.0 price. With 8.0 copies selling in the $11K range and CGC 9.0 copies selling in the $25-30K range, CGC 8.5 copies should have been at mid teens all along as far as I'm concerned. The market is just get caught up in that regard.
  13. That was a pretty nice 8.0 but at that aggressive price I wonder if anyone thought that it had a shot at upgrade as that is typically an 8.5 price for that book. I've passed on 8.0 copies at much lower prices as recently as a few weeks ago.
  14. That's my old book. I guess it's already making it's rounds.
  15. I see that now. But it's just a guy that knows martial arts in a red costume. The Badger was one of the greatest series of all time - and hilarious to boot. I'm surprised someone as swinging as Roy hasn't read the title
  16. Whose mouth do you think they photoshopped in it?
  17. That is one wickedly nasty animal. Imagine harnessing those genes? That frigging thing is fearless!
  18. Isn't there already a hero called The Badger?
  19. 3 is second to 13 and 12...there have been only 3 issues of 13 I have seen for sale in the past 6 years or so, 4 copies of issue 12, and 5 copies of issue 3... that is why I rank them in that order (thumbs u Interesting b/c there are 11 unrestored #13s on the census. And for example only 5 unrestored #9s. It could be scarce the way Marvel Mystery #9 is scarce...not truly rare, but collected and kept so not as many make it to the market.
  20. I have one and only one. Not the most valuable of the first 24 by any stretch, but it sure is purty! What time-machine did you use to acquire that one? This one right here. Awesome book, and definitely a keeper.
  21. There is no strict formulal folks. Some 1.0 books might be restored to a 7.0 and another may stay a 3.0. It all depends on the type of work and how much is being done.
