  1. What a terrific song! That verse is so misunderstood though.
  2. True enough but I'd be happy with the glare on that scanner. It's when the glare obscures the appearance of the book itself that it bothers me.
  3. CC, those are amazing scans. So it seems you do get what you pay for. My 8250 does great color representation but most of the time makes the glare happen. Do you have any thick slabs that you've scanned (GA or Giant Size slabs)? The reason I ask is because the glare problem seems to be more prevalent on those thicker slabs.
  4. That's a great looking scan, Andrew. Thanks for taking the time to post all that info. I'm really happy with the color representation of my HP8250 scanner but unfortunately am stuck with the glare. I might have to move into a Microtek.
  5. Where both of those scans made with the same scanner? The top scan (the Air Boy book) looks spectacular and that is what I am used to with an Epson scanner. The bottom scan is a bit blurry. The Kinko's that I used to scan my books at used Epson scanners. The only thing that I found with them was that tanning and foxing was not well represented...it was a little too dark compared to how the book actually looked in hand but the rest of the books looked terrific.
  6. I could be wrong but i am pretty sure that if your scans are blurry there is nothing you can do. It's the type of bulb and the focus point of the scanner that is the problem and that is something mechanical designed into the scanner...not a software problem.
  7. Wait...you have family in Thailand?
  8. +1 You can have your crown back. It doesn't fit. I bet it smells though. Good lord yes.
  9. I don't have a custom title yet. Let's see... It takes 6,500 posts to get the "TOTAL NEWBIE" tag. It has taken me over 7 years to get to 50 posts. At this rate, I will be eligible in approximately 903 years. I had better put some coffee on! At the rate you're going in the "Out of context" thread...
  10. Thanks, Surfer! Lloyd Jacquet file copies in high grade are sweet, and the provenance of this one is very interesting. I believe it went from Silver Surfer, to Jive Turkey Mofo, to *ugh can't remember his name on the boards but it starts with "S" but his real name is Frank* to me to you, Cat. Great book. If I didn't change careers I wouldn't have gotten rid of it.
  11. Beauty of a book, I'd leave it raw. Ditto. If you're going to keep the book there is no reason to grade it. I love enjoying my books raw.
  12. Is Boston Legal any good? Thinking about buying the box set. Well, trying to convince the wife to buy it I enjoyed it. It got a little silly toward the end, but it was still entertaining. You were much more innocent sounding 3 years ago.
  13. Make sure you are clever and witty with every post you make. Or you can just not get one.
  14. Just in time for day 7. How did Bedrock know? Grats. One of my all time favorites!
  15. Got some original owner early DC comics up... They are low to mid grade and include a few early: Green Lantern Mystery In Space Showcase Thanks for looking gang!
  16. The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is. Winston Churchill
  17. Porno marathon on cable? DR.X The results are delayed...
  18. You're welcome. Did your keyboard screw up? Sorry I meant to say: You're welcome.
