  1. The amount of work done to the book will determine what designation the book gets. Any piece added will likely get a moderate at least, so just fixing a cover (don't forget about color touch and repair to the artwork either) or one wrap (centerfold usually) will knock the book into MP. If you end up fixing multiple wraps you are looking at an extensive job. I'd rather keep the book trimmed and relatively unrestored at that point.
  2. It's not a new idea. The main quandary is that book then moves up in the amount of resto performed and an extensively restored book (which is what a book would be if all those wraps were fixed) is a lot less desirable (or just less valuable) than a moderately restored book, all other things (ie grade and eye appeal) being equal. R.
  3. The comic society just HATES TRIMMED comics...maybe that will change someday. Again, that is a great looking book that won't break the bank. I don't mind disclosed trimming one bit. I'd rather have a book with a little trim than a book with a large piece added. (thumbs u I am just the opposite...I rather have a comic with a piece out (that occured somewhere in the life of the comics) than have one that someone intentionally cut up... that is just me... not saying it is right, just my opinion (thumbs u Piece falling out, and one being put back in are two different things. (thumbs u
  4. Hey gang, just settling in from Megacon. Should have a sweet mini for sale thread with some nice SA key and semi key books available. Nothing huge but some terrific books including some really nice higher grade TTA #93's, a nice mid grade GL #7 and a few others. Hopefully tonite or tomorrow early.
  5. Josh was a buying fiend this weekend. You've got enough material for a half dozen threads if I remember correctly!

  7. don't be worried...aaron has had that copy for YEARS and can't sell it... if you want it, he still has it Oh Snap. Well, at least Josh now knows he can talk him down. btw...what's wrong with Aarons copy? Had a moderate sized piece missing from the front cover is what I saw.

  9. I'm learning that over time books get destroyed, lost and misplaced. It happens every day. Gone are the days when you can walk into a con and find copies of Superman #1 and Marvel #1 on con walls all over the place. Where did all these books go? Only one answer....over time their numbers diminish.
  10. thank god...... what's worse, pons, r.r. or silver streaks? Harley Yee is the hardest working man in comics. You sir, are the funniest.
  11. I mark payment owed every time and I never get a charge PP takes out a small fee if you use Paypal Credit or e-check. If you are using personal and paying with it using a paypal balance you do not get hit with the small fee. I do. 1% every time, regardless if it comes out of my PP balance or out of my bank account. The 1% fee seems to have something to do with either frequency of use or amount sent as sometimes I get hit with it and sometimes I do not. I haven't been able to form a pattern other than if I do use it often the 1% seems to show it's head.
  12. Any Canadapost or Fed Ex outlet will have commercial invoices for you to fill out. Just fill it out as drewincanada explained and you'll be fine. Otherwise you get dinged a $15 fee as the box reenters customs. Package well (See Boozad's thread at the stickied section of Comics General) and you'll be fine. R.
  13. I always enjoyed his posts. Seemed like a cool, level headed guy. (thumbs u
  14. I find it troubling that you can trust boardies with your priceless high grade comics, but you can't trust them around your spouse. That's about as low as it gets. To be fair, it's up to the spouse to toe the line.
  15. Joanna has always had my respect.
  16. You mean the autumn don't you As for good modern music - you rarely find it in mainstream media, especially thinks like the BRITs or anything on ITV. Lou's brother is always on the cutting edge of what's hot and he's always burning her new CD's. Eight times out of ten it's British and it shows up at the nightclubs here about 4-6 months later.
  17. Are you still celebrating the Canadian win over the USA? These posts are coming up a little difficult to read. Or, in R1970d speak, "I can't write what you're reading, bro."
  18. Ditto. I just never have that problem though.
  19. Sure, you're harmless. times infinity. She might not be able to resist 40 lbs less of me though. Didja think about that? Sorry, left yourself wide open. 40 lbs you say? Yup. Within about 15 lbs of what I was when I graduated from college. Maybe I'll to you with me to Vegas, killer.
