How? I've seen threads that have gone on for days before a Mod takes action, and a recent one where I got so ticked I hit the "Notify Mods" button, only to be told it had already been done. I think that one of the reasons this new idea would be beneficial is not only to help our threads be more fun and less messy but also make the mods job easier. All a forumite has to do is make a post saying "mod notified" and then everyone knows a) the guy did not conform b) Mod is notified and then BOOM He's gone. R.

another thing that bugs me is posting a hosted scan without a description. many of us spend time on here while using other networks (whether at work, on lunch...whatever) and those networks do not allow hosted pics. A description of what you are selling should be mandatory no matter how nice the scan. A little blue square with a $900 beside it is almost meaningless. R.

Not really, more like a revision in the board code that verifies that a new seller has clicked on the thread and read it (a check-box of some sort). EXACTLY. you should not be able to sell unless all fields are filled in. Those fields are then visible in the selling thread (ie. can't be bs'd). Any person that posts a selling thread without all fields filled in get's pulled. No questions asked. That should be draconian enough for even the most hardcore forumites and user friendly enough for everyone. R. As in title, issue #, grade, price? Hmmm, I'm not sure a "form" for posting books for sale is a good idea, in fact, it's probably a really bad idea. I don't think this needs to be any more complicated than a one-time check-box a newbie clicks to acknowledge they have read the guidelines and have been informed that "...Threads may be removed for failure to comply, and repeated issues could result in strikes. And that's just if we're in a good mood. ;)" Ignorance is no excuse, but if you checked the box, a newbie couldn't even claim ignorance! I think this is the most important point. Acknowledgement of the terms or dismissal. It makes it real easy to police a thread, no repeat posts about the guide lines etc.I do think a mention of the garding forum is a great idea. That wayeven if newbs can't grade they can't plead ignorance as most of the forum can give a consensus on grade. Think of the problems we have in the selling forum: 1) grade 2) outside links 3) prices 4) credentials and references 5) location 6) flame wars 7) neg comments in threads 8) scans 9) payment methods 10) notifiying mods all these things can be policed to a very hi degree with a single click of a mouse button. The fields would cover the basics...payment methods, credentials, issues, grades, prices, location of time...that way you don't have 50 people always asking the same questions. Again. It's easier for software to set a flag to a moderator (if it is bypassed, tampered with) than for 100 people to bash a newbie, then 40 of those people pm arch, then he reads the thread, etc.

yes, because on the internet time is money and most people do not have the "time" to read everything thoroughly. We are an "on demand" society now and everything needs to be in your face to see it. It's really the only way. It also abosolves CGC of any responsibility to police a bad transaction. Pop up disclaimers like this are becoming more and more common place. R.

I think a pop up window (or a mandatory guidline page so it would not be blocked) before a post is made in the selling forum would be the easiest to do. It should say stuff like price, grade (with a link to the grading forum), payment method, location, references and that would eliminate 90% of the problems. It's always easiest to make software do what 100 people would normally do. Wonder if Arch is reading this yet. How hard would it be to implement something like this? R.

You know, i find it astounding that so few people on these forums actually know how to read. In my "Why this place is great" thread I clearly asked everybody to add their collective years to the running total. I was amazed at how few people actually did it. In my Attending Chicago thread I asked people to cut and paste themselves to the list. I was amazed at how few people did it. With these sellers, a lot of these guys have been here for years as lurkers so they must have see other newbies get bashed. MUST have. And yet they do it too. Now I am guilty of wading a little too far into a grey area jsut as much as the next guy, but seriously folks...we are conversing in the written medium...how hard is it to read and write? I feel everyone's frustration. So far the only solution is to let the forum police jump on them. Don't know if this is possible but how hard would it be for Arch to insitute some sort of software whereby people can't sell without a certain amount of time/posts here? Or maybe a window pops up before any post can be made in the WTB or WTS forums giving simple instructions. R.

Hi Folks. I've just finished listing a bunch of SA and I'm just starting to list some GA, then it'll be SA and then a bit more GA later tonite or this week.

I hope to get another batch of raw comics for sale. A big mix again of GA/SA in lo and hi grades. Mostly superhero stuff with a few esoteric issues. All books will be raw. There is a lot of early Marvel SA in low to mid grades for those that like that sort of thing as well as some mid/hi grade GA books. Although I`m not a big fan of trashing peoples` sales threads, if the problem has gotten out of hand, then perhaps it`s time for a few members whose raw grading is generally respected to start making a few posts in the more egregious threads pointing out that the grade and the scan clearly don`t match. Or alternatively, to list them in this Discussion thread, so people will know which threads and sellers to avoid. If we`re not brutally honest about this stuff and not willing to out people when justified, then as you say this place will just turn into ebay lite. Or direct them to the grading forum to get a forum consensus on grades. R. Not an easy task without triggering some kind of flamewar.... I agree...People get ticked off when you politely mention that they cannot have books listed in 2 places, or that they can't sell PBX Y or Q books...it would be a tough task.... True. Maybe a pm would work better. Or a well worded politically correct post directing them to the grading forum.

Gang, I am currently scanning about 30 or so CGC books. They vary in genre from pre superhero GA lo/hi grade to early SA lo/hi grade with a bunch of stuff in between (Disney, pre hero monster etc). There are a couple of restored books and the rest are blue label. There are some keys, classic covers etc. I should be posting them some time after 6 pm tonite. No 'Tec #27, Action #1 or All American #16 but there is some really nice stuff!! R.

This is the only copy I could find with decent eye appeal / price. I love this cover! If you guys have not noticed I'm a big yellow cover fan (MMC #4, HT #11, Real Life #11, Amazing Adventures #1)...I think i need to balance with some different colors.

Always wanted one of these. I bought one years ago that was probably a 6.0 or so but not as described and sent it back. Looking back I probably should have kept it but I didn't know enough back then. This is my latest find.
