  1. I think the resolution that Rich as proposed is an excellent one.

However, this is the thing that's always puzzled me about not just this situation but others like it:

rich doesn't even want to try to come up with any solution

This attitude of 'poor me, the mean ol' nominator won't come up with a solution and let me off the list.'

If I somehow landed on the PL and wanted off, I think my reaction would be 'I screwed up, I own it and I want to make it right. Here's option A, B, C, and D. Nominator, you choose the one that works for YOU. Or a variation of the above. Or something else entirely. I'll do what it takes to make it right.'

To me, that shows recognition of the mistake and the sincerity of wanting to make things right. (the above isn't the same as unilaterally deciding what restitution will be - such as making a purchase)

If I've landed on the PL, it means I've likely waisted someone's valuable time and caused them aggregation. Why would I just sit back and expect them to waist more of their time and energy trying to devise a method for ME to get off the PL?

In my line of work I find myself defending the current 18-35 demographic quite often. It's mostly easy especially when it comes to innovation and creativity. When it comes to accountability, however, I'm consistently at a loss for words.

  2. Honest question for the veterans: how different is this place now from what it was years ago?

I feel like there was a veteran presence or some form of "tough love" even when I first joined. The old-timers used to keep noobs in line. :makepoint: Learn and respect this place or get out. :sumo: Now it seems people are chastised and lambasted for speaking out publicly for doing that. Members from social media groups seem to be flocking here daily. They're not coming to discuss comics or learn from members who share their knowledge. They seem to be coming here solely because it's a fee free selling market and a place to buy and sell the latest Deadpool variant.

This place honestly just feels different over the last year or so and it seems to be getting worse with the passing of time. 2c

  3. What the details are between a buyer and a seller is no one else's business. What's in the best interests of everyone is that it stays that way. A right to privacy is part of our constitution for a reason. GOD BLESS...

Most people don't realize there's no express right to privacy in the Constitution.

We were a country for well over 100 years before court cases even hinted that there might be a right to be divined through cobbling pieces of the document together, but there's still nothing there that expressly gives us the right to privacy. It wasn't until the mid-60's that the supreme court came up with a way to say that married couples could use contraception in the privacy of their own home.

Thank you, as usual, for the history lesson, Chris! I'm always blown away by the things I just accepted as truth for decades. I just recently heard about the addition to the pledge of allegiance in the '50's.

On this we agree! There should be no situation that would demand a buyer or seller disclose a sale. (thumbs u

  5. I think it would be fun to show a properly blurred out screen shot to validate my integrity. It would make the accusers eat crow. (shrug)

    Dan

That would be fun but I don't think the seller is obligated to show anything, unless of course there is a pattern of shady behavior or reaon to doubt them. In that case it's a different matter and in everyone's best interest.

At the risk of becoming a nuisance, how does the community set the bar for patterns of 'shady behavior' or 'reasons to doubt?' How do you know when it's appropriate to demandi someone to something in the best interest of everyone?
