  1. Remember when arguments about first appearance focused on characters that had actually appeared?
  2. If Hellboy is indy enough to make the list, then Walking Dead should probably be there as well. What about Ried Fleming?
  3. All 4 are positive. I can't check on the value of what he's been buying because the items don't show:
  4. The title pretty much says it, but some quick details. I just sold a slab for about $450 that's been sitting for a while (NM 98 CGC 9.6) to a buyer with 4 feedback and am concerned that it could be a scammer with a new account that will claim to not have gotten the book. I thought I had my seller preferences to block buyers with feedback that low but I guess not. Any advice?
  5. Right? I mean, with the back cover the way it is, that's probably a 2.0 at best?
  6. Nice results for this alleged "F/VF" copy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jungle-Action-6-FINE-VF-1973-1st-Black-Panther-solo-story-1st-Killmonger-KEY-/312073668175?hash=item48a90a464f%3Ag%3AKYMAAOSwGitaj8Sa&nma=true&si=XBHiunfcs9krhoLPqvZ55FOxgdg%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  7. Still then, you would think that making the cover available at all stores would be a good sales move. Considering that homage covers are doing well on the secondary market, I would expect that a lot of people would pick it up if they could. Actually, it would have been cool to try to recreate the original cover as a hologram.
  8. Which cover is this? (This wasn't in Midtown's list when I checked.)
  9. How is there *not* an homage cover to #1 in the batch?
  10. Because Walking Dead is not about the "monsters"; it's about people dealing with an extraordinary situation.
  11. Not so. There's a reason why his purple pants never get shredded. And why he's so angry.
  12. I read the Milestone titles when they came out and enjoyed them, but then I was in my early 20s and less discerning than I am now. I should give a re-read to see what holds up and what doesn't. Static was my favorite of the bunch and I could see that making a good live-action movie. Icon I think might feel to people like too much of a Superman knockoff. I think Blood Syndicate has real potential for something that we haven't seen in the super-powered movie genre.
  13. Well, the whole time-travel storyline is what led to Mockingbird and Hawkeye splitting, so it wasn't without consequences.
  14. What, no love for his run in West Coast Avengers? A notable omission from the list of the two characters' runs is the Black Panther epic in Marvel Comics Presents.
  15. You're lumping different things into the category of "imagery." Some people like to conflate "imagery" and the term "appearance" as it applies to comic collecting, but I think the latter has a generally accepted historical meaning that doesn't include marketing or editorial content. But agreed that CGC is inconsistent about the labeling. It would be nice if a large group of comics experts could come together and establish terminology that could be used industry-wide, similar to Overstreet's Grading Guide. I see many different categories that could be established to clarify a character's depiction/appearance history.
  16. I don't disagree with this. but that it why I mentioned "creative content," rather than "story." Because in the case of Gwenpool, my gut said that the cover of the Secret Wars issue is the important book, and it's not attached to a story. "Creative content" as I see it, is not something that's used to sell comics, but would be the thing that you're buying a new book for. That's why I see the Marvel Age previews (such as Darkhawk) to be not as important as the comic that the story appears in. Even though the exact same content is printed, in Marvel Age the printed content is in service to advertise the upcoming book, and in Darkhawk it's the thing you're paying for. Similarly, the Liefeld Sketchbook serves as information of what you can expect if you buy an upcoming issue of New Mutants.
  17. Fair enough. The mini may have been the point where people were thinking this is the next Wolverine (ironic, since Lobo was largely a satirical take on "grim and gritty" comics which gained popularity in the late '80s), which would create a spike for a first appearance. And of course it makes sense to feature in a movie the version of the character that was the most popular.
  18. I don't agree with that. I speculated heavily (or what passed for heavily for a teenager with limited cash) on Lobo #1, expecting demand because of what Giffen and Grant had done in Justice League and L.E.G.I.O.N. I'd say perhaps that the mini series pushed him to the next level, but I imagine the mini was published because there was demand for more books with the character. If a Lobo movie does well, I think the pre-Lobo mini issues of those two titles with Lobo may do well. It's too bad that Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman; he'd be perfect for Lobo, visually.
  19. That might be a product of Daniel Brereton having done covers for both Lobo comics and Rob Zombie albums.
  20. https://www.guinness.com/en-us/our-beers/guinness-milk-stout. Left Hand Brewing's Milk Stout Nitro is pretty good as well.
  21. A pinup is a full-page image. The sketches in MA82 are illustrations to accompany upcoming plans for the New Mutants title. I see a difference
