  1. These are actually still available for cover -15% off on Midtown. It's funny that some of the incentive variants have lower results than the A covers. for whatever reason I look at the 1A covers as being more 'pure' than variants...a 1A is what you'd find on a spinner rack in the 60s or 70s. I prefer the 1A art as well. Actually, a complete set of either all A or all B covers would look nice together.
  2. Yeah, but there's only one 7.5 purple label!

  4. I loved Static and many of the other Milestone books when they came out. Not enough to pay a premium for them, perhaps, but then, I bought them all from the beginning. I did manage to grab a platinum within the last few years.
  5. For what it's worth, on the latest issue of Unity with the Valiant 25th anniversary variant cover, it notes that Livewire was established in 1993. But as with some other characters, there are significant differences in the old and new characters. So you're looking at potentially two keys. Three, perhaps, if you consider her appearance in #15 of the original series as a cameo, which it pretty much is. She's in action in the next issue. I may have to pick up Harbinger (V1) #16! Thanks! If you're looking to collect first appearances, you're probably best off picking up 15 & 16. I've never seen anyone else mention that her appearance in 15 is a cameo, but that's my take based on recently re-reading the issue. (#15 is Stronghold's first full appearance, anyway – he has a final page cameo in 14 – and he does play a role in the current books, but not a huge one yet, so 15 is still key.) Either way, 16 is her first cover appearance.

  7. I have several high-grade copies, but this one is the most interesting one I own (won in a raffle along with other items):
  8. That's crazy. There was a stack of those on the shelf at my store Thursday. I'll check it out when I pop back in this weekend.
  9. first appearance and death of Negasonic Teenage Wasteland. BiIN under $20.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-X-Men-114-115-116-E-is-for-Extinction-1st-Negasonic-Teenage-Warhead-/281666937676?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4194a8634c The listing that Geeks posted ended March 31st during the height of the Negasonic Teenage Warhead craze. Ah. Temporary movie spike.
  10. Can someone explain this? I know it's a few months old, but I just saw this today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-NEW-X-MEN-114-115-116-E-IS-FOR-EXTINCTION-MORRISON-QUIETLY-Strict-VF-NM-/331513200793?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d2fba0099&nma=true&si=XsalhEQxaF7l%252FP%252FcRxYTbsRLKcg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  11. Last couple BINs went for $30 with only a couple left. One is at $40 BIN. Interesting. I picked up another 2 last night for $15 each. Store still had another half dozen.
  12. Speculation on GOTG team expansion? That's not even the same Quasar that was in the GOTG/Annihilation books Is the original Quasar still around in some other form?
  13. But the art was horrendous. This is from memory I haven't read it in a long time. I hated Bill S's art from that period. It was like he was drawing with psychedelic crayons while on acid. Just weird stuff. I belong to the pro Sienko team. But I will say this.. I always thought back then that Marvel's pick of Bill to draw a mainstream superhero book was a very strange one. Bill's work was definitely too avant garde for that title. But somehow they made it work. There was actually so much talent on that series back then.. Sienkiewicz, Adams, Mignola, BWS, Davis.. I wasn't a huge fan of MIgnola back then, but his work has grown on me.
  14. Oh man! Why'd you have to go and say that!? Ironically I didn't see them either, they fell on the floor, , they were mixed in with the brown paper wrapping paper. People checking their garbage yet? I found mine in the recycling. Nothing on it.
  15. Platt, Infinity Crusade crossover issue, low print run, Spider-man…
  16. Well, except for those of us who think it should be... Marvel Preview 7 - 'First Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' Summer 1976 IH 271 - 'Second Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' May 1982 My point is Marvel Preview #7 is the first appearance, although a magazine. Some people pimp IH #271 as the first comic book appearance of Rocket Raccoon (with a cover appearance). However, MP #7 is more valuable. Yet Marvel Super Special #16 (magazine) is the first appearance of Boba Fett, but Star wars #42 is more valuable. The same logic does not apply. Yes, the market will decide, but sometimes the "rules" are as clear cut as you think. 6 years between the Rocket mag and comic might be the difference there.
  17. Yup. Completely overexposed the character. But isn't it the exact same scenario with Deadpool? Yet kids of today love him (Deadpool that is). I think because he was overexposed, DC is too gun shy to really use him. However if he had his own series, or even a mini series, all of these 'anti-hero' fans would love him. The truth is nobody knows who he is today if you aren't 35+ years old! I still think Lobo eventually gets his day! One of my absolute faves from my early collecting days! Jay I was thinking about that, too. The Deadpool scenario. If done right, I think he can be made into a decent movie. There were rumors that that was the role that Jason Momoa had been case for. I think visually that would have worked great.
  18. That series had alot to do with the popularity of the character in the 90s.. Biz was a new up and coming artist, and getting him on Lobo with that crazy #1 painted cover is really all it took to take the character to the next level! The series was and still is mind blowing. Lobo very much was the Deadpool of the 90s (in terms or sarcasm, which Deadpool lacked back then), it was definitely Giffen's writing that made him become the hit that he was back then That series is the entire reason he's popular at all. He probably wouldn't have gotten that mini if fans didn't love his appearance in Justice League International (also Giffen).
  19. thats when you make the "hard" judgement call to get 3 less copies of Convergence... I agree with both of these comments. (thumbs u He probably wouldn't be paying for them until this week or maybe in a month, if the guys pre ordered the 1:50 for $25 it's a bit of a bad move not ordering 3 more Even without someone pre-ordering, you have to figure that even an ugly 1:50 is going to sell for well more than the cost of those three issues.
  20. What kind of insufficiently_thoughtful_person retailer only orders 47 copies when there's a 1:50? Any chance it was just held back?
  21. First appearance in comic form? Some people don't care for the GN format. I don't understand why pretty much every NM issue is ridiculously priced on Mile High's site.
  22. Ms Marvel #1 (1977) is not the first appearance of Carol Danvers.
