  1. But still you're lucky to get 10 bucks for a raw NM Point One. It's still a remarkably dead book considering what it is. It might be the awful cover. It reminds me of Avengers Annual 10. It's the first Rogue and Should be a 100+ book easy in HG. But it barely hits 40 raw. And it has a horrific cover as well. Why do you say that about ANMNPO? I can see the dislike of the Avengers Annual cover, since I've never been a fan of having panels on a cover.
  2. Is Kanan canon/ Maybe they can shoot him out of a cannon?
  3. Legends of the Geomancer I don't want anyone to miss it because they're looking in the wrong spot on the alphabetical wall. I doubt any of the LotG books will be going out with the regular books. (All the stores I go to keep the incentive variants separate from the normal editions.)
  4. How do those of you who purchase incentive variants feel about all of these books being let go cheap and in bulk? It seems to me that it should seriously devaluing those books, and would make me question whether I would pay a premium for any future incentives
  5. Correct. Sorry, my photo posting skills are not so great, it would seem. I called a few other local shops (Milwaukee area) and no one else got any, although a few stores don't get their books until tomorrow. Long time lurker but I figured this was worth a post. , it's not a misprint, they put the Regular 1st Print #2 cover on the back, and made the 2nd Print Cover what we call "Virgin" or Textless. I Flipped through one today and it was fine, covers same way as yours. And I don't see how this is heating up on ebay. Fair enough, of course it was never solicited as such and is a bit odd to have the regular cover on the back. I've never received a book with a virgin cover that was not listed that way, plus I've never seen Marvel do anything of the sort for a 2nd print. But anything is possible. And no, but it's a bit more relevant than most off topics. The best part about heating up on Ebay is knowing what to possibly look for before it does. Without having seen it, I wonder if this is what they did with the Uncanny X-Men reprint covers for 281/282.
  6. I don't know what a "spoilage" cover is supposed to be, but I know a lot about print production, and will point out that the "missing" hair piece is due to the book being trimmed differently, closer to the top. When pieces are prepared for print production, there is generally extra art (in the case of comics, figure about 1/8 inch) included past the intended trim area, since printed pieces don't always get trimmed along the exact same lines. So there's nothing "missing," it's just a slightly different trim. As for color differences, you'll see some variation over the course of a print run as some colors start running a little light or dark. Again, a very common occurrence. Generally the only cases that comic collectors care about is when one of the four process (cyan, magenta, yellow, or black) inks is completely absent from the printed piece (see Spider-man #1 with the blue Lizard). So what you have here is not so much a "variant" but an expected slight deviation from the intended norm.
  7. Albedo #3 was and still is a $20-40 book. #2 was ALWAYS a $200+ book, now its obviously alot higher. Which brings the question, does that book have more room to grow? Its interesting how 99% of all copper indies have plummeted in value and theres but a handful of books which have appreciated greatly in price and are still very sought after. Albedo #2 is one of those books I think it's a pretty limited market. But, if "furries" can shed (no pun intended) the negative stereotype, I could see new growth. Breaking the negative association I think would either require time and a new generation (but will comic collecting still be popular then?) or a popular new anthropomorphic character that most do not realize is an anthropomorphic character at first.
  8. DCBS does not guarantee you will receive any allocated variants. DCBS doesn't guarantee that you will receive any pre-ordered incentives as well, even when they have time to make sure they can have sufficient stock for pre-orders. Just got notification that my order for Valiant's Legends of the Geomancer mini have been cut.
  9. I assume you mean this one: That would be it. 1:20's of Ninjak #4 disappearing/disappeared already, and lots of calls about this issue today. My LCS ordered 3 copies, all for subs. This one may be a bigger hit than originally thought. Story was awesome too btw..... That fact is what makes me happy to be a Valiant fan first... who happens to own some variants. Comic value... eventually... has something to do with the quality of the contents, rather than JUST the rarity of the cover. (thumbs u Agreed! Of course, in addition to the awesome cover and Roku's origin, there are also first appearances by a number of baddies in the issue as well. Although I'm not sure if I expect them all to survive the first year of the title.
  10. he's rumored to be the next batman after jim gordon At some point, a character that *hasn't* been Batman will be harder to find. I've been Batman

  12. So I just went to the 99 cent depot and look what I found amazing! yes! And not just that, the girl was so happy I bought it for 0.99 cents, she gave me a free massage! There are at least 3 billion 99 cent stores near me in brooklyn and there isn't anything in them that was not made in china. Maybe i need to go shopping in queens. Scroll back. They're referring to Elmhurst in Chicago, not New York.
  13. I don't remember him being key to any of the storylines I cared about while reading Civil War, although I do remember that's when he became Penance, An incident involving the New Warriors is what got the ball rolling on registration. Considering they haven't shown up in the cinematic universe, it will almost certainly be something else (perhaps the whole Ultron fiasco will serve that purpose).
  14. I haven't seen that before but I would send it back and get another one without that if it were me. My 2 cents. -J. I received my copy today from Rupps and it looks just like the book you posted. I can't seem to figure out the printing error you're referring to. What's wrong with these? I can't seem to see if you agreed that your copy has the defect as well or if yours arrived cut correctly. If the front is that off, the top rear likely is too. Can you both confirm? Looks okay
  15. I can't speak for others, but the store I stopped at was maybe five or ten minutes out of my way. That would have been worth it if there was a stash of Point Ones to be had.
  16. Since you're in NYC, I figured I'd mention that I went to the one in Sunnyside today and didn't see any. I checked the book island twice and walked around the rest of the store. Saw nothing. okay so im not crazy that was one of the store I checked out the other day. So your From staten island as well? Nope. Queens. That shop is in my neighborhood (roughly).
  17. I didn't see any at MTC, but then again I didn't go yesterday, I went today. They still had a decent amount of the regular. I don't recall seeing any around lunch time yesterday.

  19. How many were well protected though? I imagine many ended up in the hands of the general public that are totally unaware of how critical condition is, or that such a recent book would have any sort of significant resale value.
  20. Can't find it in Comichron...should be in Feb 2014 numbers but nada (1st print was in Jan 2014). 2nd print numbers are rarely found on ComiChron or elsewhere. Comichron doesn't specify a later printing, but if you look at subsequent months you should find the same book in a much lower slot (assuming it's in the top 400). That's the reprint. Edit: If it came out the following month, it's not in the top 400, so we can assume that less than about 1500 were ordered that month
  21. From what I was told, yes, they pay their price for the incentive copy. Again, from what I understand, if an incentive variant does not sell to how many they printed, these are made available a few months later through Diamond and you can just order them like a regular comic. They are not going to just let printed material go to waste when they could sell them. Sometimes they give them to people on the creative team as well. Certainly creators get comp copies. As for ordering them, I wasn't aware that was possible. What does Diamond charge if you order just the incentive?
  22. Yes, but it gives a ballpark idea of the max number of copies that will be available. No, it doesn't, in any meaningful way. If a distribution ratio is 1:100, they could print 500 of them, and 250,000 of the "regular" version. The distribution ratio has absolutely nothing to do with the print runs of either. Unless you're suggesting that, in addition to distributing them in the ratio based on retailer order, Marvel is also making some large quantity available to the public through some alternate means, then yes, it does indeed give a ballpark of the max number of copies available. It could end up being half that number, but we're establishing a ceiling for available copies.
  23. Yes, but it gives a ballpark idea of the max number of copies that will be available.
  24. I think there's going to be double that. I'm pretty good. At a 1:25 ratio, that makes 4560 copies, if every retailer that ordered at least one ordered in multiples of 25. Which I doubt happened (but if there were multiple 1:25s, maybe not so far off). Figure around 4000 copies? Still a low print If Singularity becomes a major player and way too many for anyone to care if not. My hunch is that Singularity will in some way cause the new Marvel universe to form. Whether she sticks around after that, who knows?
