  1. I've never liked the whole baby cover thing. Obviously a lot of people do, however. Just isn't for me. I agree.... getting back into this hobby about this time last year, i recall seeing one for each new title that came out. none of them caught my eye what so ever. i honestly think the Novelty of them being produced has worn out.. i assume there's still interest in though because they continue to produce them. I however won't own one unless someone gives it to me for free.
  2. What would an article dated 2011 about that guy larry some of you speak of on here, have anything to do with purchasing a phantom variant? where's the relevance???
  3. Honestly im not all into Star Wars... also if its available at my LCS this week or it was prior i might have just passed them up. i definitely wouldn't spend that money on them thought. especially if they were free.
  4. +1.. Nothing is "unfair".. If I wanted a poster of Gwen/Silk and lived 50 miles from a LCS which offered them free I'd pay $10 to get it shipped to my door thank you Well thats you... it probably ran them close to nothing to produce these free posters. but to spend $10 bucks for it i feel is getting raped. to each is own i guess...
  5. wow.... im glad i grabbed two of them then. but these will be getting some small frames and hung up in my comic room. im shocked people are selling these and actually making money off a free item.... It does? Welcome to the world of free market ( no pun intended) It boggles my mind that people are actually buying something that was available free literally 2 weeks ago.
  6. im ready for my Phantom variants to get here in the mail already !! i also told one of the guys at my LCS to save me two regular covers for next week.

  8. While i wouldn't mind getting a Hughes variant, i think the price will ultimately be the deciding factor for me. with a $250 - $300 current price of it, i can easily get a Coppe,or bronze age first appearance of someone graded.
  9. There's an Anastasia's Collectibles Emerald City Spider Gwen Exclusive pictured below. SS op can be found here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8397928 that's interesting to know. i might end up jumping on a phantom variant #2 if it looks good. they would definitely look cool together graded and all.
  10. i would also like to see more posts regarding Harley in general, i asked a question one time on here about a week ago pertaining to another issue with her in it and the convo already going on just kept going instead of answering the question..... alas its a forum and it happens though. go fig right?
  11. I'm quite sure alot of the phantom and other variants will Definitely end up back on ebay being CGC graded. as to comparing this to the whole Death of Superman, i don't think it's that serious. remember Supes was and still is very well known. the general public doesn't know anything of Spider-gwen. not yet at least. these comics are being bought and will be sold by collectors and other comic dealers. I don't follow the resale on comics that much. So I'm not sure how normal this is for popular characters. I see the Phantom color variant starting around I think $14 go to low $20s then upper $30s. And the lower edition sketch version was upper $30s to start. Plus I see the her first appearance going for a lot. I just had a hit of nostalgia when trying to get certain Spider-Gwen covers. I remembered those Death of Superman days when I had to put my name on a list to get a few issues. There was a bit of a line to get it as well. I think so. If the issue turns out to be good it will be even more popular. It is a play off Amazing #300 which I still think is a great issue. Not only was it a great issue, but that cover was iconic and still is. im sure the phantom variant will be the best seller of the covers come next week.
  12. My 3-D Forever Evil covers are now Copper! Sweet! I kid I kid. I would say "Modern" would be within 10 years. Eventually another Age or two will have to be added soon. yea but really think about it.... does that sound right logically? a modern book can range in between the 10 year span?? whats modern would be like anything from 2015, and i guess 2014 because some stories are still running from then. So i definitely now think about it, there should be another age class made as others have said. Copper is the 90s,70s is bronze,60s silver, and prior would be golden. Maybe modern age comics should be aluminum or tin perhaps?
  13. Copper is where it should be..... IMO Moderns consist of books that were released as of last year til present time. I find it strange to think a 22 year old book, that my grandmother bought me in 1993 brand new off the printing press at that time when i was a youngster could somehow be considered modern.
  14. I think it'll be one of the top sold variant issues. i was at my LCS the other weekend, and the guys working there knew nothing of it, but when they seen it they were wowed. after telling them i already ordered two of them when they first went on sale, they were like damn... they should have ordered a few when the prices were lower.

  16. Something from the early 90s is considered modern??? oooook
  17. i just looked all through Copper section... i had to use the search feature to find this thread. what gives why is it now in the modern section ?
  18. will if you do look on Ebay, i have seen about 2 of them on the sold listings. one was actually for $300 bucks, and the other for $250 or so... now if a shop thinks they can make that, once again i don't see a shop getting them for a modern that isn't even graded.
  19. I believe 23 was the most recent update, and the Hughes is selling for around $300 on different shop sites, none on eBay that I've seen recently. I don't like it enough to pay $300, but it'll probably be the one to have knowing my luck and then I'll want it when it's a $1000 book... No link because I'm lazy but bleeding cool has been keeping track, check there $300 is WAY too much for a modern IMO. i'll be content getting the phantom variant graded and signed. I have paid and might pay more than $300 for a modern, but the risk to me is that the book isn't out yet. Hughes + super hot female character + hardest variant to obtain could equal a huge gain for some people, but at $300 to me it's a high risk. If I really really liked the cover maybe, but I don't, I like a lot of the other variants more. What if Hughes did a usual super sexy/risque cover for it like he has done in the past? His Supergirl and the legion 23 sells for well over $300, and quickly when they're listed. My LCS claimed they'll be getting a few of the Hughes variants, but it just seems overkill of a price on a book that's modern and not even graded. well if i can obtain one for cheap, i might jump on one.

  21. So has anyone actually counted how many variants are available for this titles #1 issue so far ?? has to be at least 12... maybe more?? I only purchased the Phantom version i might consider the Hughes that is if it can be obtained for a reasonable price.
  22. not sure of the size of that poster, but last week they were giving away for free small posters of that cover shot at my LCS.
  23. As a youngster i remember going to one with my Grandmother every friday after school. we used to go to a shop called Al's Baseball cards and comics in Pembroke Pines Florida back in the mid 90s. like most comic shops, it was a tiny store in a shopping plaza, Al was the the father and he had two of his sons who were in their 20s working there. I used to go for a couple of years with grams to buy comics, then they ended up moving their location to somewhere closer to my house. i continued going there but eventually as most comics shops do they end up closing and later on i ended up taking a long break from comics as i got into my late teens. Now my regular LCS has been in the same plaza close to my home for years, i used to go there as a kid to just browse or just to bike ride up there with my buddies. Funny thing is one of the guys who used to work there when i was a kid is still to this day working there. i know owners changed and so fourth but this guy is selling working there making a living on it. pretty cool i guess.
