  1. On a side note, we need a much better reveal thread next year. Makes it so much easier to do research.
  2. This is what I like to see. We need people hyping up their mystery boxes.
  3. I just heard pick 1-14 are dropping out of the raffle. Very sad.
  4. It will be a numbers game for a lot of people. You are eyeing up an 8.0 Hulk 181. If you think there is a 1% chance it might have been swapped what do you do? Or maybe you think 5%. Or .1%. Everyone will have a difference risk tolerance.
  5. Agreed. But the issue is the "most" people. So how many others (which I'm sure to your point would be a small number) have either been doing this or will. You also have to factor in how likely someone thinks they are to get away with something and way the risk reward.
  6. I would like to raise my hand and say I don't really know the steps to successfully pull off an armed robbery of a gas station.
  7. The good news is after my first pass at the list I came up with 22 I would be very happy with. And I'm pick 15. Not that there weren't others I would like, but these were the top picks. Also, I 100% will pick my own offering if it gets to me at 15. Its pretty good.
  8. This seems like some weird flexing about which scandal is worse. You kids and your scandals today. Back in my day.............
  9. I think most people would assume that if in fact a slab had been tampered with and cracked open and sealed back up it would at least appear to be obvious. I don't think anyone is assuming a slab can't be cracked open. That would just be silly.
  10. Imagine being at a con trying to buy a slab and trying to look up and compare pictures on your phone.
  11. If the expectation is that every person who buys a CGC slab has to start comparing pictures that seems like not a great solution. And of course ignoring all the books pre pictures.
  12. I think people expected at least it would take more than a hair dryer and some glue to sneak past CGC.
  13. Well, they know who one of the culprits is. Are there more than one? Who knows. I'm guessing they aren't looking too hard.
  14. But if someone swapped out a similar grade cover with something wrong in the interior even our most trusted dealers won't know.
  15. The scammer could use the QC thread as evidence. Clear examples of the wrong books being put in slabs. And damage occurring after books were sent in. Its a good point CGC would want nothing to do with that in court.
  16. If I was a betting man, there is zero chance CGC is looking beyond the one known bad actor. They will deal with the consequences of that decision if there ever are any.
  17. Is CGC's product not worthless if you don't have confidence the book in the slab is the same book that was sent to them and you can't tell the slab was opened up?
