  1. Beta or not, ComicArtTracker will continue to evolve so you should always feel free to give your opinion or share any idea you could have for ComicArtTracker.com to offer a better service Regarding these thumbnails, I have two elements to take into account: the sources often use thumbnails and I take them as they are (which means that I can't choose the format and if I display them bigger than on the original website, yes they are blurry) I could systematically use the full image but pages would be painfully slow to load If you find a source where images are systematically (or often) blurry, feel free to tell me and I can try to find a solution for this specific source. A global solution would be to resize the full images and store the result on my own server to use as thumbnails. But it would require bigger servers, so not for now. In all cases, maybe it's not obvious (and I have to admit that I lack the courage and time to write an online help / FAQ page, not to mention my level of English) but... did you see that you can access a far better image by clicking on the thumbnail? Then you can navigate between images and you can also track relevant artworks (either with the buttons or with your keyword: left / right arrows to see previous / next item, T to track, D to discard and V to view on the original website) without having to come back to the list. See my answer above. I could also have a "hover" card as on Heritage or ComicConnect but it would require to load the large image... only to display it in a not-so-large format. That's why I tend to prefer the solution I chose (displaying the image full screen).
  2. Thanks @Panelfan1 I don't have any obvious answer for your need. At least not yet. Favorites can't really work with so large and generic searches (right now CAT finds more than 13,000 covers... don't think you want to sort them out). Maybe just open the whole list of newly listed art and use the browser' search feature.
  3. Unfortunately auction houses and dealers websites are not structured: most of them won't give any art type and some of them (Heritage, eBay or Catawiki for instance) don't even have a specific field with the artist name. You cannot organize / consolidate any set of data if they are not structured. And I can't hire several persons to tag new art the whole day. Not yet ;-) But regarding the home page "New original art" panel, why would you want them to be sorted by anything else than the date? The idea is to see the websites who listed art recently. What is your need? Can you give me a scenario of what you would like to do?
  4. You could create an account on ComicArtTracker.com and see by yourself the 160+ artworks / a dozen splashes found when searching on Barry Kitson http://comicarttracker.com/
  5. Thanks @BCarter27 for all these pictures and for the time you took to upload them here for us! These Adam Kubert pages are...
  6. Yes my email service provider had an issue for 24 hours. It's now fixed (and you probably received your emails 24 hours later). I fixed this error + you can now reset your password by giving your username OR your email... thanks for pointing this out to me! Do you still have problems with the Favorites page? Or other pages as well? I use Chrome on Mac every day (v60) with 2650 artworks matching one of my 40 keywords... and I never had any issue. Can you give me some details by MP? Does it hang from the beginning? Or when only a few sources remain? Is it always the same?
  7. Of course I did. As stated in your topic title, we are talking about art. You don't need to read anything to like a painting (or a sculpture) or not. So why should it be different with comic artworks? Some pages I bought were purchased because I like the series and/or I like the artist and I "needed" a piece of art representative from this series / artist. But for some other pages I simply liked the page visually. Of course it's easier if it's not too expensive. Or I'll first try to find some information on it, try to read the comic first.
  8. For sure scraping is not ideal... and if some of these websites give me APIs it would be great! Anyway, I'm really cautious to not heavily query any website. For instance ComicConnect: I only open 3 pages every 3 hours... That's also my opinion but some sites can have their own strategy... That's also why I launched CAT in beta, to see if there was any issue with professionals. I don't think it would upset any dealer or artist, but it could be different with auction houses or marketplaces. Yep you're right, I'm aware of it
  9. It seems that ComicConnect blacklisted my server... Don't know if they did it on purpose or not , but I knew CAT could bother some websites...
  10. Thanks for your feedback Simon, I never thought about it as I easily and naturally use the touchpad to scroll down... but I think you're right and this autofocus is neither necessary nor desirable in this case. I removed it, now you can scroll down using your keyboard without cursing me every time you open the home page
  11. Sure but I cannot do ALL the work If you ask Google for a Kirby cover, I guess this copertina won't be on the first pages ... My opinion being that it's hazardous to use common nouns in searches. You should probably stick to proper nouns and filter by yourself if you don't want to miss something. But that's only my opinion
  12. I'm really curious to know which sites you're talking about... in PM maybe? ;-) (and I still have at least 20-30 small sites to index, somewhere in my loooong TO DO list) Actually, as Brandon answered above, all this "natural language search" is quite a painful subject I have a few ideas to resolve (or at least reduce) the issues with accents (you're not really impacted as you don't have accents but in France it's not the same to search for Hergé and Herge) and the issues with hyphens ("spiderman" vs "spider-man"... unfortunately I can't do anything about "spider man"). Regarding "generic" search terms (I mean not an artist or character name), what kind of search terms might be involved? Only a few of them, such as "splash page" (no real translation in French) or "cover", I guess. It would be really resource-consuming to use Google translation API to have all text translated (in how many languages?) + having each search looking for all these translations, only for a few keywords. In this case, isn't it simpler to add two favorites, such as kirby cover and kirby couverture ? And last but not least I only have a limited control on eBay searches so whatever I do, eBay will use its own algorithm to give me results back on BIN items. But maybe I'm wrong, or I don't see all the situations were it could be an issue... let's talk about it ;-)
  13. You can also have a look at ComicArtTracker.com (see dedicated topic here) to directly access more than 190 original comic art websites (dealers, auction houses, marketplaces, dealers, artists) in US and Europe. And if your website is not indexed yet, feel free to contact me!
  14. The Artist's Choice is definitely the first in the TOP 3 worst websites in terms of design, usability, (un)structured data, broken links I hesitated a long time before I roll up my sleeves and it took me more than one full week to index it (and a few pages probably passed through the net), where a modern and simple website can be integrated in 30mn (and on average I would say a couple of hours). The second worst in this TOP 3 is probably Galerie Laqua. Or maybe Black Line Fever. There's also a few websites that I could not index at all (the ones that are deactivated in the sources list) because the data is REALLY not structured ...
  15. Done! (but I removed their art from the "recently listed" page to not overload it) I *LOVE* to read that. That's exactly what I want to do with ComicArtTracker, helping collectors to find stuff they love and discover new stuff / websites they never heard about before. And if I can also help american collectors to discover european art and vice-versa it's even better! Should be fixed. FYI, you can also directly type in kirby -rip in the "search for keywords" field.
  16. You're right: when you're not connected, searches are restricted to ~ 30 websites, to not overload my server. I'll see later how it behaves, if I have to pay for a bigger server, and if I can remove this restriction.
  17. When your keywords are added, don't forget to click on "update your options" at the bottom of the page. If it still does not work, send me a message (with the pseudo you used on CAT) and we'll look at your problem. For now CAT is hosted on a quite small (and cheap) server and checking favorites on a large number of keywords for the first time may be really resource consuming. You might try first by unselecting the four eBay sources (auctions and BIN / Europe and US), bulk discard non relevant items, then reselect eBay and do it again. If it still does not work, send me a message.
  18. Thanks for your encouragements! I'll try to answer yours questions promptly. You can go to your Settings page, click on the "Sources" button and select / unselect the sources you want. By default I only pre-select a subset of all sources... maybe I'm wrong and should select every source, if it's not easy to understand why. Supposed to display a specific message, I'll have to check that, thanks for pointing this out! You're already on CAT: http://comicarttracker.com/en/got-super-powers/available-art I'll send you a message !
  19. Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce a new tool for this wonderful hobby of ours… Have you ever wanted to track auction items without having to bid on each one? Have you ever tried searching for a specific artist across eBay and ComicConnect and Black Line Fever and The Artist's Choice and still maintain your sanity?! Have you ever needed comps and historic sales NOW -- across all of the major and minor houses -- before that grail piece you found is gobbled up? Have you ever wondered how many comic art sites you’re missing out on… on both sides of the Atlantic? Every original comic art collector has to answer these questions sooner or later. I decided to build my own answer: ComicArtTracker.com ComicArtTracker gives you instant access to more than 180 comic art websites: artists, dealers, reps, marketplaces, and auction houses. Feel free to discover it, play with it... I hope you will find it as useful as I do! And as we all use it, CAT will continue to evolve during this beta period. I have lots of ideas that I have yet to even implement. So feel free to send your comments, ideas, issues... I'm eager to know what you think about ComicArtTracker. Nico http://ComicArtTracker.com P.S. Many thanks to B. Carter whose numerous comments and ideas (not to mention feedback on my grammar!) helped me greatly improve what was initially supposed to be just a small side project.
  20. This Wolverine #75 splash page was listed at $18k, and this price did not change - at least for the 3 last months.
  21. No it was not. There were 3 plates for sale at Profils last year and they sold for $40k, $40k and $60k https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/bernie-wrightson-signed-original-frankenstein-pub-42-c-6724e7ba34 https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/bernie-wrightson-signed-frankenstein-s-monster-44-c-60740a39f6 https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/bernie-wrightson-signed-original-frankenstein-pub-43-c-9e74714b0d
  22. CC just listed "a few" (something like 100 ) WD pages for their next auction
  23. Don't know what yours are looking like, but a few recent sales if it can help (not sure it will, there's a big spread in prices): https://encheres.catawiki.eu/kavels/11908821 https://auction.catawiki.com/kavels/6579023 https://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=2958 684 &refno=10560365 http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Dessin-original-dedicace-Obelix-feuille-dAlbert-Uderzo-Asterix-gaulois-EO-/311887896441 https://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=2851 522 &refno=10541932 https://fr.millon-belgique.com/article.php?p_articles=50193 Note that there's a lot of fakes for this kind of commissioned (unpublished) art...
