  1. If you guess on items no one else had, you'll be 1st for each of them... but it won't change anything to the top ranking, which is solely based on the differences between your guesses and the final prices.
  2. Just numbers. The currency will be the auction currency, and I did not consider decimals as really useful. No thousands separator.
  3. I could do that, but I don't want to frighten any potential player with complex "rules". The simpler the better. Or as we say in French: "le mieux est l'ennemi du bien". Technically speaking, it's a root-mean-square deviation. For each of your guesses, I calculate the error as a percentage of the real final price. If the final price is 1000 and your guess was 900 or 1100, in both cases your error is 10%. If you made several guesses, I calculate an "average error" using a root-mean-square deviation formula which is slightly more complex than a basic average (sum of your errors divided by number of guesses). This formula gives a higher weight to bigger errors. Then, as a score of 0.10 or 0.20 is not really appealing, I just reverse it (1000/x) to have scores around 100-1000. I think we can consider 1000 as a really good score, it means that your average error is less than 10% ... Hope I did not lose too many potential players with my explanations. And if you did not understand them, no worries, let's consider it as a magical formula
  4. Hi Lee, Thanks for your articles, it's interesting to see how other collectors evaluate items, what factors they take into account and how they value them. It's really valuable to me, as I'm European and factors and weights are definitely not always the same! Feel free to add your guesses to this ComicArtTracker page: http://comicarttracker.com/en/heritage-auctions/2017-12-31/guess I hope that other collectors will also play the game... the more the merrier!
  5. The first try did not really attract crowds of players , but technically it works Results are here, best overall guesser is NSNArt: http://comicarttracker.com/en/heritage-auctions/2017-12-24/guess Let's try again on the next 12/31 Heritage auction, ending in 4 days 1/2 (which means that we have 3 days 1/2 to add our guesses - I changed the page to lock 24h before the auction ends and not 48h anymore) : http://comicarttracker.com/en/heritage-auctions/2017-12-31/guess
  6. Pre-auction guesses have been a hot topic these days, so I thought ComicArtTracker would be a good place for all of us to do this... I've implemented an unofficial feature that everybody can play easily. The whole game is in 3 steps: Up to 2 days before the auction closes, anybody (logged in to ComicArtTracker) can place guesses on one or several items. These guesses are private... no one else can see them. But everyone can see how many guesses have been made on each listing, including yours. Guesses are locked 2 days before the auction closes. After the auction closes, as soon as results are available, the 3 closest guesses for each item are disclosed with the winners' username. A top ranking table also displays the best guessers on the whole auction (with each user given a score.) If you want to play, I propose that we start on these two Heritage auctions (and I can also make sure everything is working smoothly!) -- http://comicarttracker.com/en/heritage-auctions/2017-12-24/guess http://comicarttracker.com/en/heritage-auctions/2017-12-25/guess So, let the guessing games begin! Good luck!
  7. My bad! The search was narrowed to the title (can't remember why I removed the search on description as well). Now you get it... Thanks for pointing out this behavior!
  8. ComicArtTracker checks both titles and descriptions. Can you send me a message with the eBay item and the keyword that CAT should have found, so that I can see why it did not show up? Regarding the 4 eBay sources: eBay US (and Canada) + eBay Europe (France, UK, Italy, Germany, Spain), both in version "auctions" and "buy-it-now" only the two "auctions" eBay sources are displayed on the home page, because the BIN sections are two heavy to be indexed: I only rely on eBay search tools
  9. This auction of BANDE DESSINEE & COMIC BOOKS & COMIC ART will be held in two venues: The physical sale room in Utrecht (Netherlands), on the premises of Heritage Europe. The virtual sale room on the Internet platform. A prestige catalogue will be sent to major collectors across 40 categories around the world. Heritage has over 1,000,000 registered bidders world-wide. Through its database of targeted email addresses, its powerful internet platform, specialised media advertising and its active presence on social media presence, Heritage will proactively inform collectors on a global scale of this first ever auction of BANDE DESSINEE, COMIC BOOKS & COMIC ART! A preview exhibition of the works on offer will take place in Paris (Galerie du 9e Art), Brussels (Galerie Champaka) and Utrecht (Heritage Europe) Facilities : Deposit / Collection of works in Paris, Brussels or Utrecht. Simplification of fees and taxes. Contact us if you have any questions! I have to admit that I'm more than happy to see Heritage starting his business in Europe. I hope this new competitor will incite existing auction houses (Christie's, Sotheby's, Artcurial, Huberty & Breyne, Millon and so many others) to increase their level of service and decrease their fees (today seller fees are usually 10% before potential negotiation and buyer fees are around 30%). I cannot wait to see what kind of major artwork they can draw! (Sorry but there was no visual in this email I just received)
  10. My first purchase for nearly two years! Mephisto and Galactus were my two favorite bad guys when I was a kid. This title page not only depicts a big and nicely inked Mephisto, but it also tells a story and I like when pages can stand on their own. Now I just need to find a nice page with Galactus. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1440012

  12. I can't tell you how professional they are for shipping (even if my own experience as a French collector would incite me to be quite cautious), but I would advise you: 1) to find someone in France or Belgium to see the art you're interested in, to check it with his own eyes and maybe send photos to you (I already saw comic art at H&B exhibitions with original paste-ups or tears that were not disclosed on the catalog - and H&B are far from being an exception for that -, and also piles of art on tables where anybody could come and touch anything with his somewhat dirty hands) 2) to find someone to get the art and send it (or bring it) to you in the US
  13. After CAF Classified integration into CAT, Bill Cox and I worked on the second phase and dealers from the ComicArtFans Marketplace are starting to be reintegrated into ComicArtTracker. Albert Moy, Anthony's Comic Book Art, ArtDroids, BigWowArt, BritComicsArt, Comic Art House and Comic Art Source are already available. All other dealers will be added quickly. Note that, if you tracked / added some art from these dealers to your favorites, these favorites are lost. You'll have to browse their inventory or check your favorites again and re-add them to your favs. I'm sorry for that but it was impossible to keep these favorites.
  14. FYI, my server cannot update ComicLink auctions anymore. Unfortunately I don't have time right now to investigate, the most probable reason is that they blocked my access (on purpose or not)... but just know that for now ComicLink last bids are not updated anymore on ComicArtTracker. Sorry for the inconvenience!
  15. ComicArtTracker can clearly be improved in terms of design and mobile friendliness, I'm aware of it. I'm not a web designer + there is so much work (and I also have a job and a family so I have to prioritize all the potential developments ^^) that I don't have a lot of time to spend on improving this aspect of CAT... but one day, yes one day... Also note that CAT loads and displays a LOT of data, so I'm not sure that a smartphone is really the best way to experience CAT. A tablet connected through wifi should be ok. Maybe it was just that there was nothing to display (which means that CAT should have displayed a message to tell you that, and it did not)? Did you try to reclick on "all" (rightmost filter)?
  16. Here we are: CAF classifieds are now available on ComicArtTracker! I'll probably have to make adjustements (typically on prices), so feel free to point out any mistake in what is displayed on CAT. And now that this first step seems to be ok, we'll work (with Bill) on the second step: reintegrate all dealers from the ComicArtFans marketplace. Time to go to sleep! Hope I won't find too many errors tomorrow morning
  17. Not sure to understand exactly what displays on your screen when you click on "Check Now". Could you send me a private message with a screenshot? Thanks! Bill is working on it! I'll keep you informed as soon as I have something to work with CAT will probably first have access to the CAF Classifieds sales, dealers will come right after.
  18. Every time I see an animation art auction, I ask myself if I should index it into ComicArtTracker. For now I don't as I imagine animation art is not comic art and buyers are probably not the same...

  20. I thought it was the Library of Congress ... is it the same?
  21. I'm eager to enter CAT Phase III - The Viral Propagation... when people will do it for me
  22. Here they are! Will you find the "D.U.C.K." (Dedicated to Unca Carl from Keno) acronym hidden in this page from Don Rosa? Direct links to these pages in my gallery, if you want to see more detailed images, published versions of the pages (it's sometimes funny to see how it differs from one country to another),... and descriptions if you speak French http://2dg.me/15xb | http://2dg.me/8ky | http://2dg.me/8ko | http://2dg.me/8kn | http://2dg.me/15vb | http://2dg.me/ajo
  23. And if you want to have a quick look to all original art available in this auction : http://comicarttracker.com/en/hakes-auctions/2017-11-16
  24. What do you call "Disney original art"? Any original art based on Disney universe? Disney animated art? I have some art from Don Rosa, Daan Jippes and Disney studios (and there's also a lot of Italian artists who worked on Donald and Mickey stories), do they fit this category?
