  1. If we are talking speculation, and let's be honest, all of this is speculative. None of us has any idea whether or not Miles will be the next Spidey. We do know it's a possibility. How possible? 20%? 30%? Maybe 40 or 50%?

Whatever the case may be, the risk/reward feels right. Because if Miles Morales is the next Spider-Man in the movies, this book might be the biggest Marvel key since NM 98. It could absolutely be on that level. We are talking Spider-Man here. And if not, it probably won't dip below $10-$15 if youve managed to score a real nice one.

With a 75-80k print run it's not like the market is flooded. What your seeing here is instant gratification. Lots of $5-$10 comic shop hits turning into $75-$100 flips. I respect that. If money is tight do what you have to do. But I would recommend holding onto at least one or two. And if not, that's fine to, but let me leave you with just one question....

    Are you feeling lucky?

  2. [RE-POSTING WITH ADDITIONAL NAMES]

Ok, just for fun, we'll run the count(down) on the NYCC #1 book with Boardies, much like the TMNT folks do with their #1 1st print books.

    :whee:

Let's try to keep it to folks who have placed the book(s) in their collection with little to no intention of selling anytime soon. If someone does end up selling, we can put "SOLD!" next to their name.

    Let the countdown begin!

So far, we have the following good peoples with a copy:

    106. dane323

    105. dane323

Well, if anyone is intending to put a "sold" next their name and a #1 NYCC becomes available, I hope it's around long enough for me to make a grab at it.

  3. The nycc cgc 9.8 went for $306.

What you guys think? I expected to go for more.

This is actually right around where I expected it to go, but I thought it would fly past that actually because it was close to $300 very early on.

Looking at the prices for the other (also rare, though not as rare, but also definitely 1st prints) #1s, this doesn't seem crazy to me. If the book went for $600+ like some expected, I'd actually be worried.

I'm not surprised either. I was bidding on it to complete my collection and had a top bid of $301 (which the previously retracted bid would have revealed to someone else who was watching). In the end though I was hoping that someone would snipe me; I'd had news earlier that...

101 I am keeping my 2 as well - for now.

99 .... Sold one and keeping the other two...also, for now

...98. I finally confirmed my previously ordered copy was en-route and had been graded 9.8.

NYCC despite being extremely rare and limited, is still a 2nd print though. I believe 1A, Phantom & Hastings are the ones to watch, especially given they are 1st prints with ridiculously low print runs and much more run to grow.

    Yep.

Phantom 1 has the lowest print run of any of the 1st printing issues, plus I think the cover is cooler-looking than NYCC #1 and are still fairly reasonable $$.

Now of course if an NYCC #1 fell into my lap at a reasonable price I certainly wouldn't toss it, but it's not my first choice with my $$.

  4. Check me if I'm wrong, but do the pictures (both the front and back cover) of this book look like the spine has been photoshopped (blurred)?

    hm

That IS my book and I can tell you that your are incorrect. There is no type of photo manipulation done on it. I don't roll like that. I scanned it at 300dpi. If you see something fishy in the photo, it is probably my printer.

All I can tell you is that I'm probably

one of the most honest people in this hobby/business. It can be a crutch sometimes but thats my disposition. I'm not a game player. I offer decent product, decent prices with excellent shipping practices.

    Awesome!!!

Thank you for clarifying that - I really appreciate it!

    :cool::cool::cool:

  5. Is this a comics discussion or is it a political-viewpoints discussion? hm

IMHO, if one can't/won't separate the personal views of a creator from the art that they make, that's more of a problem with that person, not with the artist. I like "Braveheart" and watch it regardless of Mel Gibson's personal views because it's a great movie.

Same with comics. Some artists might be considered jerks, but their art is still great.

Live and let live, and enjoy the art - just don't invite them to your house for dinner if you don't like them.

  6. Some people don't go to brick and mortar stores anymore.

    +1..

    Nothing is "unfair"..

If I wanted a poster of Gwen/Silk and lived 50 miles from a LCS which offered them free

I'd pay $10 to get it shipped to my door thank you

Well thats you... it probably ran them close to nothing to produce these free posters. but to spend $10 bucks for it i feel is getting raped. to each is own i guess...

So.... you're probably going to pass on these then eh?

  7. I like these covers too much to have ppl write on them. But that's just me.

That's true, most of the cover-art is too busy to put a signature into them - except maybe the Phantom Variant - it looks like it's made for a signature:

So are ya'll still thinking the 300-swipe is still gonna be "the" variant of this issue?

I think it'll be one of the top sold variant issues. i was at my LCS the other weekend, and the guys working there knew nothing of it, but when they seen it they were wowed. after telling them i already ordered two of them when they first went on sale, they were like damn... they should have ordered a few when the prices were lower.

    Wow really!?

They did get snatched up pretty quickly though!

  9.

So are ya'll still thinking the 300-swipe is still gonna be "the" variant of this issue?

2nd behind the 1:100 Hughes variant in terms of monetary value, but an easy #1 in terms of being able to get a copy, popularity, and resale value profit.

    My 2c .

I did pick up a couple of Hughes variants but wasn't very wowed by the cover. Phantom really grabbed me though. ;)

  10. No disrespect to Mile High but I find their discounts are not that good because they jack up the price 300 or more percent. The name really is appropriate for the prices, hands down highest on the net on everything. 2c

    (thumbs u +1

If they offered their discounts on variants they would be a good deal on some stuff.. But then those prices would probably be mile high before discounts too.

their prices are great... i dont know what you guys are talking about... this is a steal...

    That can't be for real.

Will they buy mine for 10% what they're selling it for?

  11. Amazing Arizona comic-con report:

Wow! Was the wall book graded?

A raw EoSV2 just went on Ebay for $56ish.

Raw; it looked sharp, but still...

I was there today but spent the whole time in line for McFarlane.

Will be there again tomorrow. This time I can actually spend time looking and buying!
