    My Top Three:

    1) SS#4

    2) FF#50

    3) SS#1

I like the John Byrne one-shot too, the one Joe Satriani ripped a panel off of for his album cover - very cool. [Mental Note: Still gotta get myself a copy of Satriani's album]

And also an honorable mention to SSv3#34:

  2. Well, somebody doesn't think it's too crazy. All the copies are gone from ebay, and there were more than 10 this morning when I first read this (regarding Avengers 316).

    Jay

    You ain't kidding!

22 sales of Avengers #316 just today on Ebay, and before that just 6 in the past 3-months!

Man, hard to believe there's someone out there that owns 22 bird cages! :o

Seriously, he joins half way through #316 and leaves the team at the end of that same mission, in #318. Who cares?

It's almost the exact same thing that happens in #236-237, except at the end of 237 - after accepting an offer to become an official Avengers "trainee" member - he leaves because the government won't give him security clearance.

Oh boy... now you did it!

  3. Well, it's been hitting these crazy prices for a while now...

Great time to be a seller, but I am sure as heck not buying.

I have no idea whether these prices are here to stay or not, honestly.

    Not in this market.

They will be a good blue chip now.

Star Wars was the most popular comic book of the 1970s.

So many people were introduced to comics because of Star Wars.

Star Wars kept Marvel in business.

    Star Wars comic saved Marvel.

    Yep.

This one will stay high price for the longterm now for all the reasons you stated, and the timing of the movie with original characters and the new SW Marvel series looking very cool so far - will push the original Marvel SW into permanent planetary orbit.

  4. Just a heads up, Rich Henn is offering 9.8 SS service on the original cover and several variants here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8371641&gonew=1#UNREAD

Thanks for the tip. This'll be my one gamble on this issue. Picked up a few raw phantoms at rockbottom prices that first day the phantom variant showed up but this SS is one for my PC and is either going turn out to be a good pickup or an embarrassingly expensive back-of-the-boxer for me.

  5. GPA for 9.8s

    9.8 Blue

    Last sale - $260.00

    90 Day - $164.00 (83 sales)

    9.8 SS x 2

    Last sale - $299.99

    90 Day - $327.00 (4 sales)

A year from now, I think they'll either be a lot lower or quite a bit higher. I don't think they'll stay the same.

    :acclaim:

This reminds me of the sign on the 99 cent depot store downtown here

    EVERYTHING 99 CENTS

    Or less

    Or higher

You oughta see me at the roulette table, almost every spin I get paid!

  6. My question is -- How many of these sellers are taking pre-orders and they aren't going to be fulfilled? refund central based on the supposed 3k print run...

I already have seen some back out and refund the money.

Hopefully Thirdeye comics keeps up with their sales on ebay. if not im gonna be mighty pissed.

You are not the only one!

Come on Thirdeye.... do the right thing.

If past is any indication some might oversell. It happens at least paypal and or ebay have some buyer protections.

    Doesn't that people off?

I mean if I purchased something and they didn't have it available and I'm left to go back into the market and possible pay more I'd be highly pissed off.

Yeah, there ought to be a lot more consequences for reneging on completed purchases for possibly hundreds of buyers than just getting some negative feedback on Ebay.

  8. One of the better sellers on ebay imo. No worries. (thumbs u

(thumbs u Agreed. I got all 4 Wolverines #3 variants from them even after news broke that the book heated up. Came in good order and quick!

    Well that's good to hear.

Sounds like some folks in the other thread were saying this seller had a habit of shafting buyers on hot items like this.

  9. Another 144 sold in the span of an hour. Same seller @ $23.99

    This is crazy.

To the collectors out there that have been around for a long time, have you ever seen anything like this with any book? Has there ever been the hype as there is now over this book and Spider-Gwen? Please I would love to know.

    Yes, Superman #75.

    Here's my thought on this..

We all know Supes 75 was a hoax.. Therefore the craze for that book was unjustified..

But theres absolutely nothing wrong with having a book sell as fast as spidergwen phantom based on its cool cover.

The only thing I can think of that could go wrong with this is overprint without acknowledgment.

But if this variant will cap at 3,000 as promised. This will be a very treasured variant

AND if the seller doesn't just up and "cancel" the first 500 sales and relist them for double because if they did that...

... they would feel the full extent of my wrath I swear to cow! :sumo:

  10. Larry "Phantom" himself.
Wait, are you saying Larry told you the cut off date for Phantom's was Monday and the print run for this book was 3,000 and 1,500?

The reason I ask is because my understanding was different on both counts.

Larry posted the print run on his site. I don't know about the cutoff date.

He mentioned the cutoff date and time too.

  11. Larry stated the run is 3000 for the color and 1500 for the B/W.

That's fine, I just cant help but wonder, if all 3,000 sell out in a day, which is where this is heading, cant they just ask for more?

If they are going to state the print run, then it needs to be that number.

Supposedly there was a final cutoff for orders of this issue.

Maybe a 2nd print will be in the works. (shrug)

  12. the Phantom variant is probably the most popular cover out all the variants. especially judging by how they sold out within a matter of a couple of hours on ebay. the only ones left are the black and white versions for $39.99....

I'm tempted to buy one, but at the same time for $40 bucks?? mmmm naw.

They are starting to show up for $18.99, the full-color variants that is, from other sellers.

    50 just sold at $18.99...wow.

Kudos to ThirdEye; they could have easily raised prices $5 or more per book; they are sticking to their original listing prices.

Yep, they could have raised the price with each listing, but they kept it the same each time.

And having just sold out about 250 copies for $13.99 in just an hour and a half, then another seller very quickly unloading 50 copies at $18.99, they are now going for $50.00 just about an hour after that.

  14. That is just insane...... i take it this is the hottest cover for this new upcoming series.

I can't wait to submit mine in in April when i hit that MegaCon !!! and this new listing that was just up is already sold out !

whoever ordered, did you get a ETA of when it would arrive? mine said Febuary 12th... im wondering if they really will be coming that quick.

  15. She's BAAaaack!

    back again...got one this time.

    Yep.

    That cover is moving!
