  1. Same guy shows up at the Chicagoland Advertising show with one killer piece like this year after year...
  2. I have the pumper truck fire engine from this same era, but that's a LOT of original paint for that early of a Buddy L!
  3. I don't think it gets any more representative of the genre than this:
  4. How can they draw blood from Superman if his skin is impenetrable? Did they have a needle made from part of the spaceship that brought him as an infant from Krypton??
  5. Man, these 10-cent Detectives are killer books!! I love the annuals too.
  6. Congrats! One of the coolest covers of the high silver age!!
  7. Congrats on that! Still a feat. My grandfather threw two 300's back in the 50's in league play. I'll have to take a picture of the trophy he got from the ABC. It has a clock in it!
  8. A lot of people indeed term this class of early American fiction "dime novels" - I know I do sometimes - but the old-time hobbyists refer to them as "nickel weeklies." There are also "story papers" and "thick books." They're all cool to me!
  9. Isn't THAT the truth of it!! You have to wonder if some sellers write things like that in their descriptions just to see if anyone's paying attention.
  10. And a quick look at the seller's other offerings includes this dubious description: Action Comics 245 - This issue is in NM Condition with the exception of the missing last 3(6) pages.
  11. Rare is right! I don't think I've seen this one outside of glancing over the small pic in the Photojournal. Some very cool offerings. GLWTS!!
  12. Good keep! I can't imagine how boardies let so many cool books go... I mean, I know they often go to funding other purchases and what not, but I would have some major separation anxiety if I let some of the books I see on these sales boards fly the coop.
  13. Bravo! That Beware has always been a favorite of mine and I feel it doesn't get quite the reception it deserves.
  14. The first Captain Comet cover on Strange Adventures 9 is probably my favorite DC sci-fi cover, and that's saying something, as there are so many deep atomic age runs with great covers. It's not overly cluttered with fantastic coloring and just beckons the reader inward...
