  1. I spent years roaming the backroads of America tracking down old movie palaces like these. I had great reverence for an industry that provided such wonderful distraction from the problems of the day for Americans during the Depression or World War II. I'll still watch The Godfather every time I stumble across it when flipping through the channels, even if I can't get my kids to sit down and watch it with me. But it saddens me to write that if fewer theatres going forward means hearing fewer lectures from people like George Clooney and Mark Ruffalo, then a diminished Hollywood is that much a lighter loss for me.
  2. Totally cute! She looks as peaceful and restful as Clayton probably did that night, what with that monkey off his back n all...
  3. A book that cool I don't think I would mis-file, but it is tough organizing golden age. For silver, that's easy: it goes by company, then alphabetically, until I have enough to break out into a title's own box like ASM or Superman. For GA, it's by genre with some exceptions, such as I like to have all my Fiction House books together. The genres get a bit blurry sometimes: there are westerns, there are romance books - so does that mean I have to keep western-romance books between the two genres??
  4. It's a beaut, that's for sure. You edged me out on that one. I think I was involved in a light-hearted side chat and just missed. Second place sucks... At least it found a loving home. p.s. It's funny they list it as the last golden age issue. I don't consider anything with a CCA stamp GA (unlike my friend from years ago that considered anything with a ten-cent cover price "gold." "You mean FF 1 is a GA book?" I would ask him!).
  5. If anyone wants all three of the New Magnet Library pulp-type "thick books" listed on Page 6, I would do half price if you took all three.
  6. I'm very glad I pulled the trigger on a nice Sea Devils in Jolly's latest sales thread. Everything went smoothly, and I am pleased as punch.
  7. Thanks, echu. A man of impeccable taste.
  8. Fantastic Four #68 - Solid VG condition with 1/4" tear top edge back cover. $18
  9. Jimmy Olsen #50 - cool old 10c DC! VG- condition with some spine wear and bit of a spine roll. $10
  10. Hawkman #3 - Classic Silver Age DC in not so classic condition, with general wear, spine sheer, and a chew upper right portion of book (covers and pages) and smaller chew lower right. The Murphy Anderson cover - undaunted - presents well anyway! $10 SOLD! (or trade for your Atom 3, Sea Devils 3, Action 3, etc. in similar condition! )
  11. Showcase #87 - featuring Firehair. VG-ish with general wear. $7
  12. Brave and Bold #96 - Batman and Sgt. Rock! Fine- condition with some stacking wear lower left. $12
  13. Black Panther #7 - All sorts of first appearances in this issue. VG+ due to a 2" indentation line on Panther's torso (seen when held at an angle). $10.
  14. Black Panther #4 - A lot of gloss and "pop" on this Kirby Panther book. Tiny indent on Panther's right foot. F/VF cond. $15
  15. What a cover! An easy 3.0 if not a 3.5.
  16. As I scrolled down thru the other opinions, I knew someone would point out that patch that looked like color touch. Boardies are pretty sharp... Still a great book to own. Mine has a two or three inch rip and I never got around to replacing it and now I probably never will!
  17. I think it makes 5.5 easily. Great key with that awesome minty Marvel green background.
  18. 2.0 restored, with an outside chance of 2.5. Great old Archie!
  19. I'm piling on the 3.0 bandwagon. Just a great Colan cover! When Iron Man, Cap, Subby and the Hulk all got their own books in '68, there wasn't a stinker in the bunch with respect to the covers - Colan, Kirby, Buscema and Severin ALL hit it out of the park!
  20. 3.0 to 3.5 on that awesome GA gem! Lots of little stuff, with good structure.
  21. Nice presenting 5.5 on this Adams classic. Throw it in a mylar and save on slabbing.
