  1. Excellent haul. I especially love the title "Puta." I recognized the cover art for When The Lusting Began:
  2. Well, I would've said Homicide Hotel, but since that's already been taken, I'd say Girl of the Slums. Bedroom Eyes couldn't have been cheap either - booksellers love Driben!
  3. Beadle's Half Dime Library No. 898. Newsboy clip upper left corner. $30 SOLD! [
  4. Beadle's Half Dime Library No. 904. $30 SOLD!
  5. Up next are a trio of dime novels, or more properly "half dime novels" or "nickel weeklies." They were chief among American fiction periodicals in the Victorian era, and are certainly indispensable to the development of the pulps in the 20th century. All issues show signs of loving preservation/restoration done by enthusiasts decades ago. Rice paper repairs, taped spines, etc. were common techniques used in the 1930's thru the 50's by an earlier generation of fans who scoured attics and bookstores for these and the oversized story papers by publishers like Street and Smith and Munsey. The paper can be delicate and is often brittle around the edges. Must be handled with care! $30 each. Beadle's Half Dime Library No. 916. Chipping around the edges back cover. $30 SOLD!
  6. New Magnet Library No. 1134 - "A Game Well Played" by Nicholas Carter. $20 - or $30 total if you take all three!
  7. New Magnet Library No. 1028 - "The Crimson Clue" by Nicholas Carter. $20 - or $30 total if you take all three!
  8. Here's something different. These are known as "thick books" and are a sort of bridge between dime novels and the pulps. They are digest-sized and printed on cheaper pulp paper, so they are often yellowed just like early pulps. None of these copies are outright brittle, but they still need to be handled carefully. The covers are printed on slicker paper and still show some of their original sheen. They are about 3/4 of an inch thick. New Magnet Library No. 956 - "The Mysterious Mail Robbery" by Nicholas Carter. $20 - or $30 total if you take all three!
  9. If they're still available... Here are some examples of story illos. The first one is a Whitcomb.
  10. Well, take a look at the amazing story illustrations featured inside. The two-page splashes are stunning - look for a Whitcomb in there especially. The covers were dogs, but the insides are full of great illos and ads.
  11. Nice pick-up. Those are always a cool read to see how the whole Wertham thing unfolded.
