  1. Same! I’m more than a bit stunned to hear of anniversary gift cards but guess I’ll wait and see.
  2. Great chart! Man I love the way you compile data. The 1980s on - zero surprise here. I am stunned that the median for 1960s books is 8.0.
  3. I always enjoy the Lone Star letter! Sometimes Odinson's portion is an interesting read and Buddy just strikes me as a really decent man. I just fired up an order late last week and God that place is well run. I do most of my comic buying late at night (LOL) and I think I put the order in around Midnight EST. At about 10am EST (so 9 central) I got the "we have your order". No lie - 30 minutes later "order pulled", and 30 minutes after that "order shipped." They have really got that down to a science and imo shows they understand what they're up against in terms of customer expectations. We're all so used to Amazon speed we now expect if everywhere. And Lone Star - for a family run business that's not doing 47 billion a quarter in sales - is pretty impressive in doing their best to be fast and efficient. This week's letter basically had what we're used to - if I'm not ok to repost please advise and I'll remove - but the line was: "No one offers more sales than we do and all our sales are real sales and not fake sales. We will never mark all our comics up 30%, then tell you that all our comics are 30% off week after week ad infinitum, breaking that pattern only to go to an occasional 40% off (a 10% discount), or 50% off (a 20% discount). No fake news and no fake discounts here at Lone Star Comics."
  4. GPA for an 8.5. And while GPA isn't the be all and end all...$700 in 2015 with a 90-day average of $2124 - that's friggin' nuts. I know it got a huge bump when Bernie sadly passed. I shudder to think what might if Swamp Thing gets a <gulp> MOVIE!
  5. My list is pretty big too - but HOS 92 is one I wish I'd bought 5 years ago, but kept saying "...it's Swamp Thing...how expensive is it ever really going to get?" Boy do I regret that mindset now.
  6. I'll echo what others have said! Pre-Unity VH1 are among the very best comic book stories from the entire decade of the 1990s. I'd honestly put the first four issues of Magnus, Robot Fighter ("Steel Nation") in strong competition for my favourite story from that whole time period. It's really that good. Once Jim Shooter was forced out, the quality wasn't as good, but as stated the BWS Archer & Armstrong were excellent and really anything BWS did for Valiant was either really fun or really awesome (Solar Alpha & Omega) ...or both! X-O Manowar #0 - chromium cover and all - has a really enjoyable Joe Quesada/Jimmy Palmiotti drawn story. As per @CKB, Valiantfans.com is the place to go for all things Valiant. Brilliant resource. My VEI reading - all of Robert Vendetti's X-O Manowar was great. Dysart's Harbinger as well. And since Jeff Lemire starting writing Bloodshot it's been among the best books that show up at my place every month! Good luck and enjoy. Once you go Valiant (even I've stopped following Shooter's commands of all-caps VALIANT, all the time!), you'll be hooked!
  7. @20% off. Because if everyone should own one, and I don't, that needs fixing! Thanks bounty - great, great thread. I'm really jacked that even though my pile is smaller than most, it's got some stuff I'll be thrilled to add to my collection.
  8. Brilliant grab on this one! Anybody got leads on a job in Vancouver? (Or Calgary?) I asked my wife this AM if we can move to the West Coast quickly so I can be awake to buy comics...
  9. Great run of those Forbidden Mansion books - wow. Glad I landed a few sweet ones. Love to see more but man, so old, so tired. EST is killer LOL. Good luck to everybody else tonight!
  10. I hear you - and that's the one DMOFL I was really after. Nothing beats a rare Jeff Jones DC cover!
  11. Hopefully you guys can cut a deal that works for everybody. If he's really out to lunch that makes it tough. Lots of cool books and items for sure, but if he's looking for you to back-up a Brinks truck, no go!
