  1. All true for me too! Too young for 1st round Pertwee and much preferred Troughton to Hartnell. I think the everlasting beauty of the show is that everyone can have their favourites and in terms of Doctor Who, there is no "wrong answer". Every Doctor (and companion and episode and serial) is somebody's favorite. That's what makes it so incredible.
  2. I never really thought about it before, but his range was quite limited. His version of The Doctor wasn't much different to his vet, Tristan Farnon. I only knew him from Doctor Who but I read an interview with him in DWM where he said he feels like he "played" as Tristan Farnon in a lot of things. (I guess he's quite shy and said even doing conventions and things now he sort of pretends he's Tristan). The other part I found amazing - he said he regrets not being "all-in" for the role. I guess he was doing another show and some mini-series at the same time as Doctor? Do you have any context on that Ken? That seems crazy to me as it sure didn't happen on North American television that an actor was featured in multiple series concurrently.
  3. Was Chameleon too much? He was wasn't he? Peter Davison was the best! "Action Hero" Dr Who But yes, the Tardis was too crowded. They could've lost Adric much earlier, Kamelion was not a good idea and Tegan stayed around for too long. Should've brought Peri in sooner. Guy - Pertwee was the unparalleled master of Venusian aikido! He routinely beat men (and various aliens) senseless. I've always thought of his as the "Action Hero" Doctor Who! I really like Davison's era but all your points are true -- too many companions and while Tegan has some positives, none of them were that great. (On the action hero front - when Susan sprains her ankle in "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" and is clearly in obvious pain, the loveable Bill Hartnell suggest the best solution is that she "needs a smacked bottom" for injuring herself in the first place )
  4. Amazing. Davison had a slew of either really good or really not good serials. "Caves of Androzani" still holds up as an all-timer. (And all these years later, I am still in love with Nicola Bryant...nowhere near a great companion, but man, 12-year old me loved her...wonder why...)
  5. Pertwee - Inferno is amazing. I also really like "The Time Warrior".and even though it's less famous, I've always liked "Carnival of Monsters". It's true - there's a lot of good Pertwee.
  6. Brain of Morbius holds up really well. So creepy. I need to get a viewing of Stones of Blood...I am embarrassed to admit I have little recollection of it so need to get on that! As an aside - if you haven't checked out the Big Finish audio dramas, they are fantastic - especially if you've got a job with a long commute! Someone earlier in the thread mentioned Colin Baker as their favourite - he's fantastic on Big Finish. And the pile of Paul McGann stories really make it sad that the movie was his only appearance. (Well, until "Night of the Doctor")
  7. Tom Baker was brilliant as the Doctor. Great show and memories watching it on PBS. My favourite Tom is "City of Death" I think...but I'd have to re-watch a few to be sure! The 3 you mention are fantastic - ranking the Tom Baker stories is so difficult bc there are so many good ones. Any with Leela are worth investing the time We used to watch it on TV Ontario when I was a kid and it was at least a couple of years behind the BBC so that when I started watching in the early 80s, it was still Tom.
  8. Agreed - loved it. I've enjoyed all the Nu Who Christmas specials but the comic references in this one gave it that extra something else.
  9. That video was hilarious. My favourite part was that Chuck says he buys everything for 1/4 of value and sells for 3x value. That one line sums up the MHC pricing pretty succinctly and if that's working, no wonder he's still in business.
  10. Hey Rich since you've probably got hundreds of PMs to sort -- I'll take a quad signed 9.8 Batman #609 pls!
  11. That's too bad but totally understandable. Waiting a small bit of extra time is no problem.
  12. Final bump - offers welcome but I'd like to get what I paid plus the shipping pls!
  13. Hello Boardies, Not sure if this is the kind of thing the board wants, but figured it was worth a shot. 14. Holy cow! I have bought covers by Quesada and Art Adams for half the price of Capullo pages with 5 panels! If he can get that money, good on him - it's more than I'd pay but I can't argue with those that are passionate enough about his work to cut that cheque.
  15. I answered a WTB post from Eric and the time from my reply to a final deal was minutes! He paid instantly - hopefully we can do another deal soon!
  16. I'll PM as I'll need time to run to the bank and get a physical money order but I'm in!
  17. I bought a great New Teen Titans slab from Wes. It shipped quickly and was expertly packed. Hopefully we can do business again!
  18. I bought a great lot of Danger Girls and a few others from Nick - great packaging, tight grading, and shipped quickly.
