  1. Lot #1 10 books -- $7 for the whole thing. Batman Adventures #7 VG/F Starman #11 F+ Tracy #4 VF/NM ManBat #3 Spawn #27 VF- Shadow/Doc Savage #1 VF/NM Ka Zar #9 VF+ Yo Gabba Gabba NM- Mars Attacks #1 NM- Ka-Zar #2 VF+
  2. BATMAN 215-- VG/F Batman blows stuff up sometimes-- he can't help it-- as this Irv Novick cover clearly shows. $13
  3. First book to hold the space, DETECTIVE COMICS 348 from around the time of the TV Show with a great Joe Kubert Cover-- it's in VF shape and we're putting it out for $60
  4. Hey All! We're going to do a week before the Superbowl Sales Thread starting today and likely running all week. We'll do recaps every FIVE pages or so because we have a pretty huge pile of books to get through. Some good stuff, some mediocre stuff but there will be a LOT of books in the $1-$5 range as well as some nice Silver and Bronze books and maybe even a Golden Age book or two. We will be mixing in some vintage and newish toys and collectibles to keep it interesting and mostly-- we want to have some fun. The we is Andy, Joe and Adam Fish-- we sell under the eBay name RoboPicto and we have a Kudos thread here on the ol' boards. Some rules 1- No HOS or Probation Folks. 2- We are honest sellers, be honest buyers. Returns are acceptable if you think something isn't right-- but you pick up the return shipping, it must come back within 14 days and you must notify us within 3 of getting it before you return it and it must be in the same condition as we sent it out. 3-Domestic Shipping inside the 48 States will be $4.50 as a base and then multiples of that as you buy more books. But here's the deal-- we charge only what it costs to ship so you aren't paying any handling fees. Shipping has gotten a little expensive especially if you're on the West Coast (we are on the East Coast). We strongly suggest using PRIORITY MAIL because it gets to you fast and safe and you long forget about what you spent on shipping as you're awash in happy comic books, but if you want to go cheaper we can do that. Media mail don't work for comics kids, because there is advertising in it, but you've got the first class option up to 15 or so oz and Parcel Post if you're really hoping to save some dough and you're not in a hurry to get your books. 4- International Shipping (and this includes Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico) is more expensive. How much more? I dunno. But since we only charge what it costs to ship you're paying what it is. That's the best I can do. 5- Payment by Paypal, Personal Check (must clear first) or Postal Money Order are all acceptable forms of payment. Payment within 3 days of the invoice is requested but if you run up a large total and need more time that's something we'll happily talk about. 6- A TAKE IT trumps any negotiations by PM. 7- We'll do recaps every 5 pages to keep it easy to shop-- as said this is a pretty large lot of books and potentially could run several dozen pages. 8- Sale will start Sunday Jan 28th around 5pm Eastern time and we'll spread it out over a few days but we'll let you know in advance which days. 9- While we're happy to take PMs we don't check messages while we're posting so keep that in mind. We aren't going to be doing much discounting after post because whatever doesn't sell is going to move over to eBay (and we'll note that in the post). 10- Have fun, ask questions, stay tuned for some fun stuff, freebies for buyers, trivia, snacks and of course a musical number or two featuring the banana brothers.
  5. Not grader lingo-- board lingo. It means he agrees with what he's quoted.
  6. Tough to grade from the pics-- looks like it is flat, has good gloss and nice color. I'm thinking 9.0-9.2 but without scans it would be impossible to give a definitive.
  7. I like to jump in these without looking at others grades-- 5.5 nice looking book-- hopefully the tear doesn't affect it too much.
  8. No such thing as an ugly Golden Age book-- I'd put it at a 1.5 if it's complete.
  9. As long as you have documentation you can claim losses to offset gains. I use a Tax Attorney rather than an accountant but any tax professional should be able to give you some direction.
  10. So hard to grade this one-- amazing color-- great cover! 2.5-3.0 would be my guess.
  11. Looks almost EXACTLY like the copy I sent in two years ago-- it came back a 6.5
  12. Yup I agree-- I'm not much for slabbing (yes I know where we are) but this one would benefit from it. I'd put it in the 1.0-1.5 range too.
  13. +1 I was going to mention the strange halo around the H too. I'd also agree it's the same copy. All they did was lessen the grade. I don't understand the desire for signatures.
  14. Small amount of glue seems to be the same thing as tape -- both instances are done to prevent further damage. Should they both warrant a PLOD? I don't think so, regardless of the age of the book. Would you give a silver age book a Purple label for pressing? If so get ready to produce a lot of purple labels.
  15. G+/VG- One of my favorite covers! Great book!
  16. I'm pretty sure you can't add photos to an auction once there has been a bid, but regardless, I have little doubt this seller started out hoping to cash in on uniformed buyers and was playing hanky panky with the shadowy shots.
  17. Over $300-- even with the dark photo-- there are several that show the Punisher logo at the bottom-- you'd have to be a pretty uniformed collector to think this was an original. Shame if an honest bidder gets taken on this.
  18. Wow-- great color! Soft corners and some wear would put this in the 4.5 -5.0 range.
  19. Funny that it's identical to this listing which lists it as a reprint https://www.ebay.com/itm/Superman-1939-torn-and-crinkled-cover-from-storage-1970s-reprint/292407283350?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D47301%26meid%3D0ffcc14861724fb8b59d695d1dcc3d5f%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D292350667390&_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850
  20. As someone who used to manage a chain of supermarkets I can tell you definitively it's important to know what your employees are playing when you're not there. There needs to be standards set-- and the volume needs to be such that it doesn't cause the shopper to lose focus on what they are there to do-- spend money. If you run a shop, put the speakers up near the register so the employees don't feel the need to crank it so they can hear it. Music should be low volume and as middle of the road as you can find. I love Ozzy, for example, and Crazy Train would make me smile, but play ANY other heavy metal type stuff, or rap, and I'm out of there faster than you can say "Can I help you?". It blows my mind how many shops don't understand this basic common sense rule.

  22. The spine roll isn't mentioned in the grading notes, so other than eye appeal I'm not sure it would bump the grade up. You might end up with a flat 4.0. I guess it would depend on how much you have into it and then what pressing costs. I'm not a big fan of pressing myself and the spine roll to me means some kid loved this thing enough that it got dog eared. Nice book!
