  1. Anyone ever seen this before? If so, why would this be the way to do it?
  2. Some highlights from Sunday’s flea market event (dollar books and newsstands will be posted in their respective threads)… I have to say the timing on those Stormwatch books is blowing my mind, even if I’m always keeping an eye out on these two. This is only the second time I’ve found a Stormwatch 4 locally, so I had to get it. Two days later, boy am I glad I did. Edit: also, not to undersell the Ninjak gold variant, because I was thrilled to get that one after having sellers remorse with that same book. A customer at the flea market said he wanted four fairly common books I had at the show, he came into the store today with some books to trade and he had the Ninjak. So the wheels were set in motion for this trade at the flea market, so I count it lol. Also, that Daredevil is a 1:50 from the 2019 series.
  3. These are all in person purchases, from me. Personally, there are very few newsstand comics I’d pay what people are asking for. I’ve seen a few newsstand specific collectors at shows in the last half year, but still most people are for whatever. The people who are serious about it, though, are like “let me show you my spreadsheet in the middle of a busy show” serious.
  4. Interesting thing about the Avenging 10… I can’t recall if this was the case with 9, but these had actual stickers for the newsstand label. If you look at the others on eBay you can kind of see it. Yeah held it up to a light and looked at the back of the page, it just looks like art behind that sticker, not like it was laid over the normal direct edition white rectangle.
  5. Some cool finds at a local show this weekend. Posted the newsie highlights in the thread:
  6. Some decent pickups from a local show this weekend:
  7. So I found a copy of this at a show on Sunday and jumped right on it not knowing what it was (being a near life-long SG fan). I was able to find info from listings on Comicbookrealm and eBay (as well as Mycomicshop with less detail). However, there are differences in the copy I got and the ones shown in those other listings… The copy I bought says “Origin Issue” at the bottom right of front cover… the others say “Collectors Issue”. Mine says “No. 1 | Apr 15” in the boxes underneath the logo at top left… The others say “No. 2 | Vol 1”. This was supposedly a giveaway to employees as a promotional item of some sort. Anyone know anything about this? Pics below (my copy on top, other examples underneath)…
  8. My biggest spec for a while was All New Marvel Now Point One. I can’t tell you how many copies of this book I picked from dollar boxes 6 or so years ago. Second would be Young Avengers 1. I had a dozen copies at one time. I now have two of each lol.
  9. I’ve been looking for an affordable copy of that book for years. Well, I’d say $1 is affordable.
  10. Highlights from a very good day of picking (nothing was over cover price).
  11. I know I still have like 6 copies of Hellspawn 6 from back in the day. I really hoped they would fully follow up on that whole thing. By the way, Hellspawn was a great little series, one of the runs I made sure to finish when I got back into comics like 10 years ago.
  12. The dollar boxes have been pretty good to me this week:
  13. And, furthermore, here’s another question… Why THIS Alf comic? Why was this the one to be chosen as a reprint giveaway? It was done in irony, right? Or some self referential gag, yeah? I get the notoriety of this book and the infamy it garnered, but still.
  14. The hypothetical scenario I keep going back to is something like this: A store like FYE gets promotional materials for stuff every shipment.. maybe this was meant to be a free item if you bought the DVD that they would give you at the counter, but it’s Alf in 2017/18. No one cares. Maybe they just printed however many and didn’t even notify the stores. It then could have just been thrown away with so much promotional material those type of stores get. But surely some store would have made the connection and actually put them out for whoever bought the dvd. Still wouldn’t explain why we’re just now finding out about this book.
  15. When I first saw a picture of the Lionsgate comic however long ago, I initially assumed it to be like an ashcan sized deal. But that’s obviously not the case.
  16. Thing is about that, I’ve seen no package for an Alf DVD set that could possibly house a full sized comic book.
  17. Well, there has been some interesting information to come through this thread. Thanks to all who have contributed, thus far. At least this helps to confirm the authenticity of this book. On that note, I was able to get a copy for myself. It’s printed on thicker stock paper, has ads for other Lionsgate releases on the back and the indicia does indeed refer to it as “2nd print”. I’m very excited to have it, and I think I’ll be sitting on it for a while. Now, my question is how many of these are out there? And still, how were they actually distributed? Store giveaway? Mail in? With this having come out in 2017 I’m surprised people weren’t aware of this, something tells me this may be a relatively uncirculated release. Anyway, I’ll update with detailed pics of my book later in the day.
  18. I’ve been flipping these #11s for months. Nevermind the Iron Cat, that’s one of the best Campbell covers in a while.
  19. I was able to acquire a VF- ish newsstand from my main LCS around 5 years ago for a great deal. Never since or before found one just in budget or dollar bins. They’ve all been wall books that I’ve seen.
  20. Anyone know anything about this? I started seeing things here and there about it over the last year, and can’t find any info on it. The big difference is there is a Lionsgate Films logo in place of Marvel Comics in the upper left box. Im assuming if it’s real it’s a freebie or giveaway with one of the DVD sets. I’ve been casually inquiring knowing minds about this (on the home video media collectible front) but I’ve had no real leads.
