  1. Very similar to the boards. Most sellers will accept an unconditional "claim" in the comments, or DM/PM to make an offer or discuss price. It depends. I do get DMs when I post a a book just to share and say it's not for sale. Sometimes I do the same, you never know - with the right offer, even a "not for sale" book may be for sale. I wouldn't say I get flooded though, if I say it's not for sale, maybe 1-2 people will reach out if it's a hot book. Yes. You can delete any photos you post. There's also a neat feature I like that allows you to "archive" a post, which just removes it from your feed so others can't see it, but you can. Pretty much just stumbling upon a book or browsing through hashtags and people's feeds. There's definitely a community, and it's growing quickly. But it's very different from the boards. The boards have been around a very long time, and the hobby's most seasoned veterans are all here - the wealth of knowledge is incomparable. Being a social media platform, I'd say Instagram trends a bit younger or those newer to collecting but there's a growing number of more seasoned collectors popping up all the time. I have made a lot of friends in the comic book community through Instagram, and many I've met in real life. It's great to go to a con and browse the con's hashtag (like #SDCC for example) and see everyone's experience, and even connect with them. I spend a lot of time on Instagram and the boards, but I use them differently. It's not either-or for me. The experience obviously heavily relies on who you choose to follow. I follow people whose collections and photos I like, so the entire experience is enjoyable. If I were to dumb it down, I'd say my experience on the boards involves a lot of reading and some buying, whereas Instagram involves a lot of pictures and some buying. Obviously it's a phone app so it's great when you have a few minutes to kill and can just fire up the app and scroll through tons of pics of comics and get your crack fix.
  2. 3.0 upgraded to 4.0 upgraded to 5.0 ...and "forgot" to sell my under copies along the way
  3. Thank you for the shout outs @FN-2199 and @AustinReece_GRRC! It's very much appreciated! Regarding raffles, my solution is simple - I unfollow any and all raffle accounts. Every single one. If someone posts even one raffle they get an unfollow. My Instagram feed stays clean and I don't get inundated with stupid things like raffles to get into raffles. Really, that's a thing - people enter raffles to win a spot into a raffle
  4. My primary channel for interacting with the comic community is on Instagram. But I head to boards to get real deep into the GA weeds and have more in-depth discussions Instagram is a great platform because it's visual, so scrolling through your feed and seeing everyone's collections is a fun experience, and of course interacting with the community is great. Just like any platform (the boards included) there are very trustworthy sellers and there are shady sellers who get called out quickly. It's relatively new for the comic community, but some of us have been on Instagram for 4+ years and have developed a good reputation, and there are constantly new collectors joining Instagram. At the very least, you can just follow a bunch of collectors and hashtags and see endless pics of comics
  5. If anyone wants to grab some beers and chat comics after the con on Sat, we're hosting a casual meetup at 6pm Saturday at Rosamunde - right across the street from the convention center. Shoot me a DM if you'd like to join so we can get a headcount and save seats! -Gene

  7. I have no idea! Surely there can't be anything major missing otherwise it would have either been noted or incomplete. Detached cover or centerfold would have been noted on the label as well. Might have to pay for the grader's notes and see, otherwise I'm thinking it would be worth a re-sub. This is one case where I definitely bought the book and not the grade.
  8. Happy to join the club with the nicest looking 2.0 I've ever seen
  9. Not much to chime in on - got my badges and accommodations. Once the schedule and show updates start coming out, it'll be full steam ahead with show planning!
  10. I won the Punch 12 on Clink. Very, very happy with the final hammer and that I didn't have to compete with @G.A.tor Glad to be part of the club!
  11. My big win. I threw out a bid not expecting to win at all, so to say that I'm very stoked to have this book is an understatement
  12. It really is a gorgeous looking 2.0. I think it presents better than the 3.5 that was also available, and the final hammer on both reflected that. The 3.5 went for not much more than the 2.0, but I think it's because the 2.0 presents better with higher PQ. I'm sure the winner of the 3.5 is very happy with the price he/she got it for, though.
  13. My win. Went 1 for 1. Got my eyes on a couple others still.
  14. Flew out from San Francisco to attend this show. Lots of nice books in the room. However, foot traffic felt a bit light - surely because this was a first time show in the area and the word still needs to get out. Seemed like most of the attendees were more casual collectors, and a lot of the bigger buys were between dealers. At least that was my perception. As for myself, I picked up quite a few books and enjoyed it because there was virtually zero competition for the books I was after. I was there all day and didn't buy anything until the end of the day and everything I had my eye on was still there. Overall it's a good comics-only show with lots of potential, just needs more people to show up so it's worth it for the dealers to set up. It is absolutely worth it for anyone in or around Denver. All the comic collectors going to Denver Comic Con in a couple weeks would have been far better off attending this show instead. Below are a bunch of pics that I snapped at the show so you can see what it was like. First set is pics of the space and some booths, and I will follow up with pics of wall books.
  15. I'll be flying out from California - looking forward to it! I'll also be bringing a dozen or so slabs with me to sell/trade. Mostly GA. If anyone wants a list, feel free to shoot me a DM.
  16. Sounds like it was a good time! Bummed I couldn't make this one, when I haven't missed the last few. I was on a tropical vacation, though, so don't feel too bad for me. Looking forward to the August show.
