Wow, that's a hard one. Kinda like what is your favorite book in your collection? I have already told you probably the most significant one in my intro. Manning up as A kid any paying Bert Blum 2 bucks for a MAD #9. Sounds insignificant now but that was the book that started me on this crazy journey.
Yes, there are lots of stories, one in particular. But since you asked how about you give me one to get me motivated? I know you got some too. I believe you even shared a couple when you came on.
You've got to give to get...

Nothing wrong with that beater! Tough book. You can even read it on the can!
picked up this little beater from the 'bay last nite, which'll do 'til i find a nicer one. -
Are these rare or scarce? How many issues in the Canada run? I have #3 and maybe #4

Way to go! My kind of books. I've been looking to complete my Speeds and that one is close to the top of the list. Those 20's numbers are impossible to find in any shape. Wait until you open up that Four Favorites. It's got a Classic L B Cole Hitler story that is hard to top.
My first two purchases of the NEW YEAR hath arrived at the residence!!! Thanks again fellow boardies!!! Just opened the well packaged Speed and its late here in Cleveland so couldnt take the best of pics and my scanner does slabs horrendously but I was just too excited not to give it a photo op!! -
Cool! Last one I need to complete my run of Mystery Tales. (figures it would be this one). I just never ran into one.
Li'l ol me? -
Looks like it could be. Do you know when and where you got it? I never saw any of the bulk of the Friction House books. I did get a beater Fight #10 I believe. (the underwater one).

Found a few more things in my photobucket that might be of interest:
First up is a 1920's German Distler Wind-up Coupe with working headlights:
Next is just a little newer. Cragstan, Japan 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner removable hard top, battery operated, car with original box. Early "remote control" car. Goes forward and back and steers. Also has a feature where the top opens and closes. I have since sold this red one but kept the blue one that I got at the same time.
Any Yankee Baseball fans? Here is a scarce Roger Maris nodder from 1961. The year he broke the Bambino's record.
How about an unknown 1950's Pulp Magazine original art photo. Got it from Terry Stroud years ago. Love the "bullet bra" on the dame and the guy's fake bloodstain!
Picked this up for my wife who likes dolls. I like the radio advertising. So we are both happy. It's a die-cut store stand up counter piece from the late 1940's
Bought this at the Brimfield MA flea market (google this show, it is amazing). Anyway, was there with a friend and this guy pulls in with a truck of old store stock from a general store. I got this and a tin Roy Rogers Marx horsetruck in the box. What blew me away was when I tried to open this it wouldn't open. My friend then exclaims "Dude, it's still stapled shut!". I got it home and wanted to open it soooo bad but re-considered. It's one of the rarest Marx playsets. Maybe the only one left sealed? It bugged me so bad, I finally sold it on ebay for a pile of money (which is long ago spent...)
Last one for today. 1939 Art Deco Marx train set (complete and working):
I believe my bucket has run dry so I will re-load it this weekend.

"You'll shoot yer eye out" Hi Marty! I've been following your thread for a while. Glad you are here and posting your stuff. I thought I was a "big cheese" buying the first Marvels at cover price!
I had forgotten how many different models of Air Rifles DAISY madeuntil I ran across this ad on the back of IDEAL #4 from Spring 1945-6.
They also sold a variety of "Play Guns" which you could order directly
from DAISY.

Nice Griff! I love the "checking copy" stamps. I've got a couple other Fawcetts, Mary Marvel I think with those stamps. Some may not like that but I love the providence!
Squee new to me today !! Thanks Walclark -
Jeeze! "Awww come on, you're killing me smalls" I'm just gonna take my ball and go home! Please don't put up a Torch and Subby run my heart might not be able to take it.
Two minutes later a kid with a tricycle runs thru the room, followed by 3 large dogs!!nope, that happened with these.

Wow, somebody always has to come in and put us in our place... And was just wanting the #31, All kidding aside a remarkable feat to have complete runs of titles like that! Shows real dedication. I'm afraid the Cap ship has sailed for me. I probably couldn't afford a low grade run that large. At least I can see them here and dream!
cap run is a great one, fersure. -
Hi Weird Paper, welcome to the party! Now that's what I'm talking about! Great stuff. Your Buck Rogers ship puts mine to shame but hey, I got one. I love the boxed toys. Sooo hard to find the boxes. I got a lot of that stuff but a lot I don't have either. Nice mix. I have very little original art. Just a few pieces I've managed to luck into over the years. I remeber a comic shop by me had probably 30 framed Jack Kirby covers up on their walls for $150. each I stupidly didn't buy any... This was back in the late '70's.
Keep 'em coming and if any of the rest of you folks wanna put some stuff here feel free!Don't have to ask me twice. (Not that you asked me once ) My comic collecting focus has completely shifted from comics to original art, but I still got me toys and oddball character collectibles.

Yeah, guilty as charged. Oh, I remember you... You were that whiney, guide waving Baker collector! Best deal you ever got on a Baker romance book! You also scored that cool My Romantic Adventures. Hi Brian, I think we had fun. Stop by and say Hi if you go. I promise not to bring any books that aren't for sale. JoJo will stay home in his nice warm box. And don't blow my cover. And yeah, that Green Lantern is STILL mine thank you!
-
Yeah, you are right but he did get quite a few DC superhero. I bought a Sensation from him a couple of weeks ago at Long Beach. I don't know what he still has but I do know he has some left. I will give him a call tomorrow and check with him. He would be about the only one who has some for sale. Joe and Bonnie are pretty cleaned out of GA.

Ooooh! Please do! I love dumpster diving and did it myself a couple of days ago with a little minor sucess. Those old fuddyduddy guys over in Gold would never do that. Just joking!

I got several PM's to put these books here. They are from a wonderful collection dubbed the "Paul" collection that surfaced out in my area. I originally posted them in the Have a Cigar thread. If you go back a few pages in that thread you can read the back story. For those of you who saw it move on there's nothing to see, for those of you who haven't, enjoy! (Spoiler: There are a few more here that wern't in the other thread)

Yes, this is 1/2 of the Mighty Mouse Giants. I have since picked up the other volume from the same guy that has the other 1/2. So now, I got all the giants in 2 volumes.
How 'bout some Comic bound volumes? The Wings set I got from George Tuska and he signed it inside the front cover. It is #1-12. The Disney set is a two volume set of all the Donald Duck Barks one shots. Also got Scrooge 1-40 in two volumes from a local guy that bought them from Cherokee and had them bound. The 9 has a $6. pencil price inside the cover! I love bound volumes! Are those the Paul Terry Mighty Mouse issues? I like the Robot Cover on issue 38.
Oddly enough your bound volume is probably equivalent to the 384 page Mighty Mouse giant issue in red. I think it contains MM 42 and 43 plus a few others.

Oh Man, Cat that is breathtaking! Everything is larger in TX! My wife would probably tell me to put it in the garage. Just kidding she is very supportative. I have a small maybe 10" tin wind-up from England Natiluas toy I was going to put up but maybe just I will substitute something else. Keep 'em coming and if any of the rest of you folks wanna put some stuff here feel free!
Bob, here's a bit more of the nostalgic stuff I've amassed. This is a real gem!If you like Disney's version of Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea this is the real star of the film...

Yeah, you lucky dog! I've gotta travel a bit to get there. Always worth it. Been to Rennigers, Black Angus ect as well as Kutztown many times. Ever come out this way? We can go to a large flea market every weekend all year round. The stuff isn't as old and historic but pleanty of what I look for. Portland Expo in OR is also great especially in July!

Golden Age group shot
in Golden Age Comic Books

That is one of the first GA books I ever got. I got it from a friend's dad who was a pawnbroker. I got about 25 books. I remember a beautiful All flash#16, a beautiful Batman #9 a Subby #6 and that one. There were a lot of others but it was a LONG time ago and I can't remember the others now. I had never seen books like that. Sadly, I traded them all away for ECs but still have that one. Congrats!
