  1. It will be come December I've been thinking about this. Will the general Star Wars fans care about first appearances? Sure, I imagine more interest in the comics when the new movie hits, but will a specific issue (other than #1) command any sort of premium for that crowd? Assuming there's no character or theme carried over into the new movies, I don't see any one issue rising above the rest. This would be a true 1st appearance, even before they show up on film. And with the flood of Star Wars media Disney is about to unleash on us for the rest of our lives, sooner or later these characters will pop up on screen. its hard to believe there would be ZERO impact on the comics. That's what I'm saying though. If the Star Wars community at large is to create an impact on a specific issue, that character would need to appear outside of the comics. Absolutely, it's a coin flip, they either appear in a movie or they don't. But, If they do though, look out. 3 First appearances with an 85K run. Even if just the droids show up unnamed, I think there's a winner here. I think even without a tv/movie appearance, 1st prints of #3 are an insta-buy at 10 bucks (at least for me they are). Low print run (comparably), day one scarcity with allocations, start of the main Vader story (the best story of all the Marvel SW titles going), and three first appearances? Count me in. The comic sold for $15 the day it was released due to the Aphra news, now is just the cooler period where fewer people are looking. Is that "Aphra news" the theory that she'll be a part of the new series somehow? I don't see that happening. But I (apparently) think this will be a good issue to own. I can't stop buying the thing. I'm apparently in the buy high, sell later camp.

  4. And I thought the paper they used was bad. I'll have to take a closer look at my comics to see if this has happened on any of them. It's certainly not anything I've noticed before, but that doesn't mean it's not happening on some. Thanks for the heads up.
  5. My LCS got shorted on how many they received of that book so that doesn't surprise me. A lot of copies of this issue in particular have the ink rub on the front cover, and hence, why a NM (True NM) copy will fetch a higher price. Can you tell us more about the ink rub? Not sure it's something I've seen.
  6. I'm with ya. As I said elsewhere in this thread, my addiction to this issue, and any of the SW books really, doesn't make much sense. But you should see my stack of ASM 265s. Which reminds me, I need to track down more ASM 265s. Bet my stack is bigger , been collecting the Sable for years Probably true. I think I have 10 or so.

  8. And I don't believe that they are going to be either. It is essentially a speculators dream book (except for the print run). Already sells well, great cover by a known artist, name brand book, 1st appearances, a good story and movie spec. Esentially, it is the type of book that anti-speculator snobs ridicule when seeing people buy multiple copies of. It's awesome You need to look around. You look like you are in the Phoenix area. Several comic stores in Phoenix are selling 1st prints of these for 50% cheaper than he is buying them for. I get he wants to speculate on them, but to pay $15 for a book that sells for $10 or less routinely (and yes, in NM or better condition) seems kinda I thought the idea behind speculating was to buy low and sell high. Not to buy for more than market to hoard. So paying $15 on eBay is crazy but paying $5 less is acceptable? Is that a rule for everyone, or only for those who can find copies in town? Would driving 50 miles to another store to save $5 be crazy, too? I went to all of the local shops and bought what I could find, which wasn't much. Keep in mind my LCS is Mile High Comics. If you think buying the book for $15 is crazy, try buying from MHC. I'm not a speculator in the sense most of you are. This is the first book in years that I bought more than one copy. I get to a comic shop maybe once a month, and typically with my son to find comics to read not to make money on. I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong by some people's standards, but it's been fun "hoarding" this book and trying to find others in the series. Just keep in mind that if it weren't for people like me spending that extra $5, all that speculation you boys are doing wouldn't be fruitful.
  9. Despite buying this issue and the rest of the series, I'm still not sure I should be spending $15 a pop for a book that has a print run of 100K. Still, if anyone has raw copies to sell...
  10. $15 was low for awhile there, was it not? What's the norm now? Sorry cell phone. I can't stop buying these. I've paid between $8 and $16 plus shipping. I wasn't buying when they first hit and now I'm addicted to the damn things. Feel a bit like a sucker, but here we are.
  11. Well, now that it's on Bleeding Cool, everyone knows.
  12. I bought some more Star Wars books from Chris, and despite the box having apparently been opened by USPS and resealed by a blind man who didn't care whether the box was left opened or not, the books came through in great shape!
  13. I'm done collecting the Star Wars AF variants at issue 10. That's enough for me, unless they do something incredibly cool and unexpected.
  14. I need to get in on this one. I actually wrote a story in that anthology.
  15. Tarful? If it takes place immediately after Sith, then maybe. I was actually thinking Yoda (assuming Chewie and Yoda have some sort of relationship shown in the book).
  16. Lando got one. I'm thinking they were sticking with original trilogy characters.
  17. Any thoughts on what the action figure variant might be on the upcoming Chewbacca mini?
  18. I think SW is as good a spec buy as anything being published these days for the reasons Larry is suggesting. My question is whether first appearances will be significant on back issue sales, or if key events might be more important. Or if there will simply be an uptick in demand for the entire run regardless of issue once the new movie hits.
  19. Some well done photos in there. Probably the best I've seen. Thanks for the link.
  20. If you like Star Wars and you like Hot Toys, check out the SDCC images on Rebel Scum: http://www.rebelscum.com/2015-SDCC/Hot-Toys-Display-2015-San-Diego-Comic-Con-SDCC/
  21. A lot of people were very unhappy with the paint job on the first one (I liked it). But this new one is awesome. What was the big complaint with the first one? And was it a problem through the entire run, or just some specific statues?
  22. Video of Red Sonja, Vampirella, and Lady Death:
  23. Anyone have information on The Brewing Factory? They're doing the 12 inch Women of Dynamite statues. I'm interested in the Jungle Girl one. But I don't know what sort of quality we're talking about. I believe they're priced at $189.
