  1. My goal is to offer these comics at good prices. They're great copies, and I paid probably double what I've sold them for, but when it's time to sell, it's time to sell.
  2. Time to sell what's left of my Uncanny X-Men collection from the Copper Age. As always, the trumps anything being discussed in private messages. I'm selling the set of 8 comics for $30 plus shipping. That's $3.25 for each book. This lot includes: 201 (VF/NM), 201 copy two (NM/better), 205 (VF/NM), 207 (not pictured; NM), 210 (NM), 211 (NM), 212 (NM-), 213 (NM) I've also got issues 175, 181, 204, 267, and 291 (all in the NM range) if you want them. I'll add them to the lot.
  3. I didn't actually quantify the first issue, so I've edited the first entry of this thread. Issue 1 is a solid NM+ or better.
  4. I've been going through my boxes, and I discovered a second set of Saga comics. Looks like I haven't kept my comic collecting software as up to date as I thought. Anyway, typical rules apply: no one on probation, the in the thread takes precedence over any negotiations happening in private messages. I'm selling this set for $300 plus shipping. (That's essentially $150 for the first issue plus a little less than $9 each for the other issues.) This is a really nice looking set of issues. All unread. All come in a Mylites2 bag with full back. I'm selling these are NM in large part because I rarely grade my personal collection as anything higher. With that said, here's a closer look at each issue: 1: Beautiful copy. There's the typical bindery splits at end of each spine, but that's minor compared to other issues I've seen. NM+ or better. (I have at least one CGC 9.8 book that doesn't look good, but I've also seen CGC 9.6 books that look nearly perfect. That's why I hesitate to go all in and call it a NM+/M.) 2: Very sharp, but there’s a small spine crease at the very bottom of the spine on the BC. At least NM, most likely higher 3: Another nice copy. There is some light scuffing on the BC along the spine. At least NM, most likely NM+ 4: Looks frickin’ perfect, but there’s a small spine crease right in the middle of the spine. Does not impact presentation. At least NM. 5: Small spine tic near character’s elbow on FC; at least NM, most likely NM+ 6: Dang nice black cover; at least NM+ 7: Sweet copy. At least NM+ 8: In the right light, you can see 3 tiny spine tics; also a color dot just to the left of the woman’s toe. At least NM 9: Tiny spine tic on FC; also a smudge or color dot type of thing along the spine on FC; likely NM+ 10: Sharp, beautiful copy. At least NM+ 11: Tiny spine tic on BC and FC. Still at least NM; most likely NM+ 12: Tiny spine wripple on the BC (not a crease, not color breaking). At least NM, most likely NM+ 13: Looks perfect. At least NM+ 14: Looks perfect. At least NM+M 15: Looks fantastic. At least NM+ 16: Looks fantastic. At least NM+ 17: Looks perfect. At least NM+ 18: Couple of minor spine tics. At least NM
  5. I like Joelle Jones, but the idea behind Lady Killer didn't thrill me. Something off putting about the first cover for some reason. If you're recommending it, perhaps I'll give it a shot.
  6. I've been going through my boxes to sell, and I found issues 610 to 700 of Amazing Spider-Man. I did a quick search on eBay, but nothing stood out in my brief search. Are there any issues in here that are special in any way that I should pull out? Or can I safely donate them, hand them out to kids, or toss them?
  7. Looks like Conan is with Marvel now. That was a pretty big seller with DH, right? I wonder what DH does now.
  8. I was trying to wait to open Wayne's 2nd box until this afternoon, but screw that. I've got the patience of a child. This box contains a huge stack of reading material across various ages of comics. Some Sin City I haven't read, some super hero books, even a few Conans I've read but will likely read again now that I have them sitting here. I actually already read the Secret Wars II book this morning. I have fond memories of the series from when I was a kid, but holy smokes, that is one terrible comic. But I still love it. Well, not really, but yeah, totally do. There was also a comic with a cool female Boba Fett cover (never seen it before, but man, I certainly like it), a Walking Dead variant/reprint of issue 1, some comic with a booty right in your face, and a Giant-Size Super-Heroes 1 that looks dang nice! Of course, the real doozy here is the Forbidden Worlds 71. I mean, who sends a slabbed copy of Forbidden Worlds for a raffle? Dwayne's crazy! Crazy awesome! I can't wait to crack the slab and read it. I'll do that tonight. Maybe I'll let me son have it. He loves robots! Just kidding. That Forbidden Worlds will stay sealed in my collection for awhile, no question.
  9. I'll open it this morning. Trying to extend the anticipation a little, and it'll help break up my morning at work.
  10. My wife and I got home from picking up our son from school yesterday, and we noticed a big box on the front porch. My wife says, "Oh cool, look. That dresser I ordered came in." And I was like, "Um, actually, I think that might be another box of comics from Dwayne."
  11. As a total newbie to statue collecting, I'm waaaay more worried about really getting into the hobby. I've only got two statues, but want more. But the ones I'm interested in are Sideshow. Because of all the comments, I'm even more hesitant to pull the trigger.
  12. I've been hanging out in the statue forum, just reading the various threads, looking at teasers and what not for upcoming Sideshow items. And it seems like over and over, collectors rip on Sideshow's QC problems. It's like they hate collecting but can't give it up. Is Sideshow really that bad? Or is this a vocal minority of perfectionists raising a fuss?
  13. I can't wait to explain it to my wife. "No, seriously. I didn't buy these, I swear."
  14. I couldn't resist, so I opened the rest. Some great reading ahead of me, and probably some for my son, too. Plus some Frank Cho and X-men and Wolverine to add to my collection. Woo hoo! Thanks, Azkaban. You rule!
  15. So, before I even unwrap these things, let me tell you how cool Dwayne is...in case you didn't now just how generous he is. Instead of sending a random assortment of comics, he asked me what I'm into. I admitted that over the last couple years, all I've collected is high grade Adam Hughes books. I loooove Adam Hughes, and by focusing on him, I can scratch the collecting itch but still keep saving money for making comics instead of buying them. I said I collect Hughes covers, along with other modern favorites like Frank Cho and Artgerm, etc. I then told him when I was really collecting, I focused on those books I loved as a kid. I grew up reading comics in the late 70s and into the 80s, all the way to the early 90s. So of course, my focus was Copper Age keys. My favorites characters were always Spider-Man and Batman, but I also read a lot of Daredevil and X-Men, too. Really, how could you go wrong with any of those characters? I also told him I love all things Star Wars, that I have a thing for good damsel in distress covers, and that I also enjoy reading sword and sorcery type comics, like Conan and Red Sonja. I went on to add that I have a son who's 8 years old. He looooves Star Wars. He is starting to get into Avengers and Batman and Spider-Man, but he hasn't really gotten into reading comics. I've tried, but he's more interested in movies and playing Legos. I'm slowly getting him more into reading though, so there's hope yet. I expect a full on comic reader by the time he's 10. Anyway, that's what I said, and I expected a box of random Copper Age reading copies, most likely, but I was looking forward to the surprise. I had no idea just how surprised I could be. Here's what I found in just the first bubble wrapped bundle. That's a lot of NM comics!
  16. Okay. I mean, wow. Seriously. I just opened the Mystery Box from Azkaban, and I gasped when I saw the four sets of bubble wrapped comics. He mentioned he'd send me something big and cool, but I had no idea you could put so many comics in one box. Where's the fainting emoticon when you need it?
  17. Holy . I just got home from The Last Jedi to find a huge box from Azkaban/Dwayne. I mean, seriously, it's HUGE. Look at this thing.
  18. Wait, companies other than Sideshow produce statues? Looks like I know what I'll be searching for online today. Better block out some time in my work schedule to daydream and drool.
  19. As a statue collector, how do you decide which statue you purchase? Do you focus on only the best renditions and poses? Are you character focused? Are you line oriented (Marvel instead of DC, for example)? I'm asking in part because I'm a bit bored today at work, but also because I recently narrowed down a list of statues I thought I might want. Then I watched the 12 days of Sideshow event and I'm like, oooh, that might be a cool one. Granted, these are all a year or more away from being purchased, but I don't have the room or budget to buy a whole bunch of these. So to some degree, even knowing a more interesting statue is coming soon is enough for me to reconsider the ones I'm interested in now. Maybe I'm asking the wrong crowd, and you all have infinite space and money, but I'm not one who loves one specific character or line. I'm interested in pretty much all of 'em. So pulling the trigger on a $500 statue is proving a difficult task with so many options already available and more to come.
  20. Wow, that was fast. I do like to make my listings better than what you'd find on eBay. But maybe I should've rethought those numbers. Just kidding. Shoot me an IM with your address. I'll box up the books and get you a price. One thing I failed to mention in the listing is that I only ship Priority Mail. Too many times I get the stink eye when trying to ship comics media mail.
  21. Time to sell a few more comments to fund my other hobby: Making comics. Typical rules apply: no HOS, the sign takes precedent over any discussions I'm having in private, etc. Up for sale are issues 1-18 of Saga by BKV and Fiona Staples. I'm also including a copy of the Ghost Variant for issue 7, and a second print copy of issue 8. I'm selling these as a lot. If they don't sell as a lot, I'll sell them in smaller lots, but let's try the whole set first. Buy the whole set of 20 comics for $250 plus shipping! (That's about $150 for the first issue, and about $5.25 each for the rest.) #1 looks magnificent. At least NM+. I see no problems with this copy. There are the two typical problems at the spine corners (bindery tear?) but they're pretty insignificant here. #2 also looks incredible, but there's some scuffing in the middle of the back cover. You can only see it in certain lighting. Looks NM+, but the scuffing might make it NM. #6 has some minor spine tics, but also looks to have some fingerprints on the back. NM. #7 Ghost Variant is NM. It presents very well, but does have a few small spine creases, one of which I think breaks color. There’s also the slightest big of spine roll on the top half of the comic. All other issues are NM. Each issue looks incredible in the comic bag, but upon close inspection in hand, you'll see a spine tic here or there. I've seen plenty of graded 9.6 copies that have more obvious blemishes, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.
  22. Whew! I missed the post. I was getting worried about the potential drama that would unfold.
