Yeah, no way would I leave my collection to a museum. There is just no respect. And, they control if it gets displayed or even sold. I quiver at the thought of people I don't know mistreating what I have spent so long acquiring. My collection will be sold by my family. Hopefully at auction.I would wish to have my wife, kids and grandkids get the money and to have my stuff spread out as much as possible to those who will love and take care of it as I have.

At the end of the day, you come into this world naked, and screaming with nothing. And this is the way you will leave it...

Truth is, holder or no holder, comics will disintegrate over time unless they are stored in vacuum sealed containers as the Smithsonian does for perishable objects of value and significance. (cgc holders are great though, in that they delay the inevitable)

Second, museums hold great works of art in storage that never see the light of day, perhaps because they are considered irrelevant by todays standards..

The 1991 event always seems to get all the attention because it was the first but it continued yearly. The Sotheby's 1992 auction was very non-Timely oriented but it had these two copies of Marvel 1.

I remember this one, they were exciting sales. Marvel 1 was worth more than Superman 1 and I think it also toped Action 1. All in all the 90's were pretty good for comics and a pretty good decade in general.

This page is so important for historical purposes, and I never knew it existed.  Stupid question:  who is this artist?  Is it Burgos?  I find curious the picture on the back of Torch's shirt in the 3rd panel.  I guess it's the artist's way of reminding the reader of the Torch's alter ego.

Yes for sure, I'm not sure who the artist is but it looks like Burgos.

(worship)  Awesome books, Steven.  Had no idea that the Marvel Stories contained an image of the Human Torch.

Regardless, that's a great looking pulp. Love the cover.

My copies of Marvel Mystery #7 & 13; love these earlier grades... :x
