  1. Try setting your scanner up with the Microsoft image/scan software. Either "Microsoft Image" or labeled be under Assessories as "Scanner and Camera Wizard". Either of these will allow you to tweak the resolution and size. I'm sure HP ImageZone does the same but am unfamiliar with the software. I use HP Director. Jim
  2. Thanks Jay! Looks like I have some catching up to do... Jim
  3. #104 was the first all horror/mystery issue that didn't feature the monster or mad scientist angle prevalent in the title beforehand. #105 was the first issue which dropped "Tales of" and strictly went with "The Unexpected" (still with the all mystery format). Either one could be chosen as the first... Some could say the title didn't fully convert to the all mystery/horror format until Johnny Peril ended but if that was the case you'd have to go into the #120s and we know it started way before that... Shiver may have more to add... Jim
  4. Thanks for posting those Jay! We'll make converts of some of the others for sure.... Jim
  5. Monsters on the Prowl #19 - You all were asking about Oakland copies, here's one despite the offset spine... Jim
  6. Baron Weirwolf's Haunted Library #25 - Unknown until now....the first failed CGC slab tests... Jim
  7. Haunted #17 - Everytime I see this cover I can't get Chuck and his often mentioned garden off my mind... Jim
  8. Haunted Love #6 - Me thinks LSD has to be mentioned somewhere in the story... Jim
  9. These will get this back on track... Haunted Love #5 - The eye has an almost 3-D quality.... Jim
  10. I think the TV tie-in comics (ST, Twilight, Boris, LIS, etc.) will always command higher prices due to the influx of additional collectors from their respective fandoms. Solar, Magnus, and Turok for that matter, may have a few additional collectors from Valiant but I doubt it. Magnus also has the Manning collectors. Here are where the more traditional collectors are in my opinion and where you'd be likely to see any fall in prices if warehouse copies became prevalent in the marketplace. You can still get Grimms, Ripleys, and Spekters pretty cheap in relation... Jim
  11. They weren't dups? Well I greatly appreciate you selling them to me then.... I've been picking up more GK horror/mystery lately and am starting to really appreciate the painted covers. It's amazing to see what I've been missing all these years by just simply stopping and giving them a closer look instead of just flipping through because they were "GKs"... Jim
  12. No...there will always be life here as long as people love Bronze horror. Did you like my Ripley? GK horror has been seriously underrepresented in this thread... Jim
  13. First, Sterling's a big boy...I doubt he needs your support. Second, you do a drive-by bemoaning the fact people are using . You didn't mention the bickering at all. Say what you mean next time instead of trying to act the Forum police role. Well go ahead...I never needed your, or anyone's, approval to begin with. Talk about a high horse? Now that we understand ourselves maybe we can get back on topic... Jim
  14. Coming from a guy who rarely posts in this thread but feels the need to try and police it, excuse me if I'm not taking your criticism and general trolling as anything but a really bad joke. And as far as Sid's posts go...sometimes our long winded pal, Calamerica, did a better job of getting his point across... Jim
  15. What the hell are you trying to say Sid? Honestly I don't know where you're going here. Say what you mean and try not to be cryptic about it. Might as well have used an emoticon to get your point across... Jim
  16. Why do you care so much? How is it affecting you? If you don't like it, don't use it but don't presume others should share your view. [#@$%!!!] about something of substance. person_without_enough_empathying about the use of an emoticon, not directed at you, makes you seem like you have nothing better to do than simply [#@$%!!!]. Jim
  17. Nah..don't bother. We've bought them all up. You'll just be wasting your time searching them down... You aren't looking well enough then. I've had plenty of luck tracking down Charlton HG on eBay. From the major internet dealers expect to pay 1.5 to 2X guide for HG Charltons. Jim
  18. Pence version....get it through a Vault Auction? Jim
  19. They could just treat them as "special" identifiers for MJ comics. But I suspect they would downgrade a bit for them... On the otherhand, some collectors, who bought these comics on military installations when younger, may prefer the "stamped" comics. Nostalgia does play a major part in collecting... Jim
  20. Very true...I bought some Marvel's Greatest Comics a couple of weeks ago with the star but without the insert. But a good rule is...if you think the comics you're looking through may contain inserts, those with the stars will have them almost 80% of the time. But that's easy for me to say because I see a whole lot more omics with inserts over here, due to them being bought at military facilities and making it into the general German inventory, then someone looking through collections in the States... Jim
  21. The star stamp is a clue when looking for Mark Jewelers reprints... Jim
