  1. Something I've always wondered in regards to nicely preserved comics... Has anyone notice them aging quicker than newer comics if stored improperly? Take the Curators for instance. If I placed a 1964 Curator comic and a 1977 comic, both with white, identical pages, in a humid closet for a year whould the Curator pages start yellowing quicker due to it's age? Or to even use a more extreme example...replace the Curator with a GA Mile High... Jim
  2. I noticed the same thing when rebagging some original owner comics that haven't seen the light of day since the mid-70s. Though the polybags were yellow to the point that seeing the comic underneath was hampered by the cloudiness of the bag, the comic appeared as pristine as the day it was bought off the newsstand. As you have suggested, my bet is environmental conditions are the #1 adverse factor in the premature aging of comics regardless of the bag and board used for storage. It's getting to the point after seeing nice comics emerge from polybags time and again that the warning against using them for longterm storage is overblown and how a collector manipulates the storage environment is much more important... Jim
  3. Weird War Tales #64 Manitoba Copy The Witching Hour #46 Manitoba Copy The Witching Hour #60 Manitoba Copy House of Secrets #107 Ghostly Tales #111 Jim
  4. I thought you lived in Orleans? Not surprising. They don't near get the attention of the DCs/Marvels. Which is good for me... Jim
  5. That troll in the front has one seriously long arm... Nice comics by the way... Jim
  6. Dr Strange's short lived superhero suit... Ran from Strange Tales 177-182. Also was wearing the mask in Avengers #61 and maybe some other titles. Was gone by the time of Marvel Feature #1 (Dec 1971/1st Defenders). Jim
  7. If I remember correctly, Arch deleted al the old posts due to either the old software couldn't handle a large historical record or, and I think this was more likely, the old server didn't have enough space. I believe the problem was resolved when Arch moved the whole site over to another server. It might have been around the time he asked everyone to re-register... Jim
  8. I'm continuely amazed at the things you can learn around here... Did/does he/she still work and, if so, what name does he/she draw under? Jim
  9. Arrived today... SGT Fury #94 SGT Fury #103 Giant-Size Super-Villain Team-Up #1 Jim
  10. Let me start out by saying I could be mistaken... I remember reading somewhere (CBG maybe?) awhile back that this TPB was going for good money and wasn't widely distributed. I'd never heard of it beforehand so it sticks out in my memory... Doesn't provide much help I know but it's definitely something to research and not just get rid of like other McFarlane Spidey issues... Jim
  11. As well as Dr Fate, Dr Strange, Clea, Morpheus, Scarlet Witch, Witchblade, Harry Potter, Prometheus, Demon, Ghost Rider(?), Gandalf, Diablo, Phantom Stranger (really nice profile shot), Spectre, Mr Mxyzptlk, Zatanna, Ghost, the Seven Dwarfs, and a couple of others I can't place... It goes on for a couple of pages. Gotta give CG credit, if you're going to use characters without authorzation, might as well not descriminate by just using one company's characters... Jim
  12. They went barhopping in the CrossGen Universe... Taken from Mystic #15... Jim
  13. True...but that's an entirely different beast altogether in my eyes. Those guys are usually finding variants hidden among normal common issues. That usually takes a fair amount of work and I can understand to a point why remaining quiet would be preferable. This is an art cover. It's on eBay. Not some mom and pop auctioneer. It's like comparing apples and oranges. People aren't likely to confuse it for the real thing... Jim
  14. Who's nitpicking? It's a legitimate question... And I've contributed quite nicely to this thread over the last year so don't make any accusations I'm just here to cause trouble. Regardless, who designated you forum police today anyway? Jim
  15. This is a public forum...No? Maybe people like to see auctions in progress than after they have ended. In fact, there are many such examples at any one time on this Forum. This Forum should be pushing info to those that may have an interest..not after it's ended and possibly irrelevant to those possibly wanting to obtaining an item. At that point it usually becomes a "look what I got and you didn't" exercise in futility... I will...Thanks! Because, frankly, if you think another item like this is going to fall under the radar, I fear you're greatly mistaken. I couldn't care less whether someone posts an auction I'm interested in here or anywhere else. Either I want the item at a certain price or not. I'm not wishing for a secret cabal to keep it quiet for me... Jim
  16. Not trying to be a tool myself...but can someone explain this mentality to me? I would think having a head's up would be appreciated. It's not like the auction is a secret. And if you think not posting them here will somehow make the final price less, I very much doubt it unless it's a comic buried in a pic... Maybe I'm missing something... Jim
