  1. I've been grappling with downgrading for a while now, and if there's a book that still looks great coverless, its this one. The rest of you kids, look out for a 6.0(R) SS copy sales thread starting shortly!
  2. That guy needs to get got by karma. Tenfold.
  3. If you paid with a cc, by all means DO NOT just “count your losses”. Dispute the bleep out of the charge(s).
  4. (Editified upon further discussion)
  5. :Ahem: Per the thread title, we were promised Stange Tales 169...
  6. I finally watched it last night on Prime. Sad to say that I came away thinking “it’s too bad that I’ve already seen Taken and Man on Fire.” To be fair, the sheer greatness that is IV was almost impossible to match.
  7. Don’t worry, the newly listed one is part of a made up pedigree. Sorry, “collection”.
  8. I wonder what he would do if a potential buyer had already blown his second chance...
  9. Episode VI.XXV - The Force Hibernates I dig it.
  10. Jork Kirbuy would've looked fantastic on the same page as Steno Ditkg. Oh what could have been...
  11. Thanks for posting the images @SkOw, its pretty clear that they're all forgeries since they read as Steno Ditko. A quick Google image search of Ditko's signature will reveal plenty of signed fan letters, and in each of them he made an obvious distinction between the v and the second e in Steve. I also didn't see one example where he looped the e into the t cross. The "Stan" signatures are even more dreadful, especially since they're supposed to be from 1993. This on par with some of the worst forged drek that @James J Johnson has found on eBay. F for effort, F for execution. And that pm to you? Yikes. A whole lot of flowery caveat emptor. Dude would have definitely disappeared with your money, and I'm guessing grandma wasn't getting any of it.
  12. Well whoever bought this one -- https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wolverine-90-1995-CGC-9-4-Hildebrandt-Kubert-Deluxe-Sabretooth-Uncanny-X-Men-/124231064715?hash=item1cecbf9c8b%3Ag%3AEzEAAOSwI4Ve78s-&nma=true&si=LjpuxsFNhGzzUUJ4pVVR7vDHsys%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 -- is either a new collector or just stupid. You can put together your own CGC 9.4 of this book for a couple of bucks and the cost of grading. Copies of Wolverine 90, especially the Deluxe edition, are everywhere. In terms of 9.8s, between blue and SS copies there are already 65 in the census, and that doesn't account for the time period where CGC wasn't making the label distinction for Deluxe. So there's likely even more already graded 9.8s floating around. If anyone out there actually paid $900 for a blue label 9.8 copy, they should have their money revoked. The non-deluxe is a bit of a different story in that its harder to find, but there's still nothing all that special about the issue. I would post your copies in "Hey buddy can you spare a grade?" before sending them in to get some opinions on if they really are worth the cost of grading.
  13. For those who haven’t seen it before: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mega-Rare-Error-Comic-DC-Teen-Titans-6-Marvel-Two-In-One-74-Inside-CGC-7-5/263527921090?hash=item3d5b7cf5c2:g:-sAAAOSwXL1cbDtV
  14. Took advantage of the rain today to finally do the math. Turns out Stan edged out Claremont, 28 to 25. Hama wasn't even close, I only have 6 signed by him, which ties him with Neal Adams for like 6th or 7th place. I knew I had sold a bunch of Hama signed books to other Wolverine enthusiasts, guess I didn't realize how many.
  15. @Corona smith - I’m a bit confused by your wording. Since you got your money back, did USPS determine that he did not ship the books?
  16. Taco Bell is dead to me ever since they discontinued the double decker.
  17. The problem your facing is that you’re trying to upgrade the charges without any new evidence. The incident from two years ago occurred, and he’s on the PL for it. If you read through some of the past HOS nominations, you can see that there’s a pattern of misbehavior that land someone in there. At this juncture, it doesn’t seem like the offender has risen to that level. Yes, it is very possible that he scammed you. But, it is also possible he did die or have some other life altering event occur that has driven him away from the boards unexpectedly. I’m sure a lot of us here can sympathize with being out money in a bad transaction. Unfortunately it happens. Heck, I once unwittingly bought a book from Danny Dupcak. Bottom line - what has he subsequently done to deserve being put in the HOS? Simply not responding to the situation that landed him on the PL isn’t going to cut it for the HOS for the majority of us.
  18. You did everything right imho, seller was clearly playing games (and would've kept doing so if you'd agreed to his obnoxious return terms). If it were me, and eBay refunded me and said I get to keep the items, I would keep the items. But I can be a jerk If he'll pay for the shipping and you want to send the books back to him, that would certainly be some positive karma for you. But then you also risk him playing the "books x, y, and z were damaged further when you shipped them back, now you owe me compensation!" and him incessantly harassing you further.
  19. Technically yes, but in those first couple formative board years of mine I wasn’t nearly as tuned in as I try to stay now. I can only imagine such joys like following part 1 of Gabe’s journal in real time. Better late than never though 🎉🎉
  20. I gotta say, the latest HoS poll motivated me to go read some of the stories behind the past inductions, and man is there some wild stuff. Great way to kill time and get educated after lighting up a beer and cracking open a fire in the backyard.
