In this case, it’s easy money over integrity. Dylan clearly does enough business with CGC that he could take a few minutes to look over his plethora slabs to bring his grading more into alignment with industry standards. But it’s quicker, and likely more profitable, to deceive customers with overinflated grades and hope they don’t notice.

It is a 5.0. If you’re grading on a scale from 0.5 - 100 that is.

It was also the highest graded copy in that particular auction, plus the 8.0 and 8.5 copies went for about $500 above their recent averages. 181 had a huge upswing from 2016-2018 (I think, I might be off by a year), this could be the start of another. Or its just an outlier. We'll see.

I think its safe to say there was a lot of scorning going on in this situation if it got to the point that it actually wound up in court (unlike the occasional boardie here who will threaten to sue someone for defamation or defecation or demarcation, and of course nothing ever comes of it).

IGB would do well for themselves by using jury selection to exclude any potential juror with even the slightest bit of comic knowledge.

IGB would certainly seem to have a case if that were true.

Agree with everyone else who has said leave it alone, an upgrade seems unlikely based on these notes. Its a beautiful 4.5!

In a nutshell: Trial court said “case dismissed” with a summary judgment in favor of CGC and Heritage. Upon IGB’s appeal, the Superior court said “case undismissed, no liability determined at this time”. CGC and Heritage appealed to the Supreme Court to try for a re-dismissal, but it looks like the Supreme Court didn’t even take up the appeal and it was simply denied. So at the present time, basically all parties are back at square one in the trial court. It seems likely they will have to argue this out in a full trial.

CGC didn’t lose the case, It’s still undecided.
