    That’s the impression I had as well, but like I said, longtime since viewing. Didn’t seem far fetched that the machines churned out Neo and Trinity clones like the Dominion did Vorta.

    That was to charge though, you know the old saying about indictments and ham sandwiches. Going into a trial you'd think they'd want to go in with some semblance of proof beyond one person's word that the books were actually stolen. Would they really waste their time with this if it looked like proving up to BARD was only a remote possibility?

    Its seven shades of bizarre, no doubt. Probably one more reason the OP should've thought better of his "may they all divest themselves in the fiery bowels of Trogdor!" rant. But we also have to consider that the locals in Arizona are apparently willing to take this to trial. To me that would indicate they've resolved many, if not all, of these oddities to their satisfaction, but we're obviously not privy to that information.

    This I don't remember since its been so long since I saw the movie, but that certainly gives the Wachowski's an out. It also kind of paints them into a corner for all future Neo-centric movies. They either have to keep using Keanu Reeves, even when he's long dead (is The Matrix Reanimated, starring zombie Keanu Reeves awaiting us in the distant future?), or come up with some lame excuse for why the architect switched the settings on his cloning machine from Reeves to whoever is drafted as the next Neo.
