Yowzers, that's a smokin hot 3.0. Makes my 2.5 look like a 0.5 or worse!

it was the best looking one in that price range on the Bay I think someone must have just been itching to get one now and pulled the trigger Definitely a new record for .5
There are fewer and fewer auctions -- and, conversely, more and more BINs -- for key Silver books as the market has now become a seller's market. There are still many collectors out there hungry for a chance to own an "entry level" AF15, and the window on affordable, unrestored copies of AF15 underneath $7,500 is closing. So, yes, it's a lot for a .5, but the alternative is buying a 3.0 blue for twice as much, which is unaffordable to many. So entry level buyers are thinking, "buy the .5 [or 1.0/1.5/2.0] or get left behind at the station."
That's my story. Used the same logic when I bought my 2.5 last September for $7,500. Did the research, saw the dramatic climb upward and decided that now was the time to buy before it became (at least for me) illogical to spend so much. Funny, I already want to upgrade.

Hi everyone,
Name's Andahaion (elvish for Justin, apparently). I began collecting as a child in the late 80s. Superman will always be my guy, but I'm also really into Silver Surfer, Green Lantern, and the team books: JLA and Avengers. In high school, my best friend and fellow comic collector passed away and I gave it up. I was pulled back into the fold when they "killed off" Captain America. One of those marketing tricks that worked. I also work in government affairs and found the symbolism fitting for the times. Anyway, don't want to get political, just relating how I got back into collecting.
It wasn't long after that when I found ha.com and other auction sites that allowed access to older books I dreamed of owning as a kid. Now I'm all grown up (doubtful) I'm able to purchase older key issues like my recent acquisition of a low grade copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 (CGC 2.5). I'd been watching the book soar in price over the past few years and figured that now is the time if I ever wanted to own a copy.
Anyway, I look forward to learning and sharing with all of you. Cheers.

As I'm sure most of you noticed there was a 3.0 that went for $10,157 the Sunday before last. It was a beauty of a copy, no chipping. Looked like it may have had mold issues though, thought I recall seeing spots on the cover.
Actually...that price includes buyer's premium. Does that figure into the GPA for reporting purposes? (Yes, I'm new).
Cheers.
