  1. I have shelved the "books are cheaper on holiday's" as either as always a myth, or times have changed. With ever growing share of snipes to bids ratio (that can be placed anytime) and empty-nester comic collectors searching for bargain's having bought int to the "books are cheaper on holiday's" myth with nothing but free time to search on free non-work days - one might be better off looking for books ending on Tuesday's than ending on Holiday's. *I have no empirical hard quantitative data to back up my assertion. Based on qualitative observation only.
  2. Inside story (art signed by Charlie Tomsey) doesn't portray any player with #15 or who appears African American - it features Slade Cutter, Buzz Borres, Bill Ingram and Jonas Ingram - all of whom played for Navy much earlier and served in WWII. To my surprise, Navy it seems didn't have an African-American football player until Calvin Huey, who was a 1967 graduate of the Naval Academy. The only real guess I can make is perhaps Honduran born Stephen Van Buren. After leading LSU to victory in the Orange Bowl, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles with the fifth overall pick in the 1944 NFL Draft and played professionally from 1944 to 1951. He wore #15. On the other hand, he didn't have any connections to Navy. It looks as if I may have been mistaken about the cover.
  3. I do not (details not listed on comics.org, I google searched a little with no obvious leads). I will open the pages and post what I find here.
  4. Making sure I got my numbers registered? No reason to think not, yet my irrational paranoia.
  5. All 4 thanks to 3 different boardies! Thanks guys.
  6. Some more new additions "Atlantic City Copy" if anyone knows the backstory? Metropolis Label has graded 7.5 but seems some dings occurred post sale around the gypsy's head?
  7. Omg, so funny and creative. I'm breaking out my Obadiah Oldbuck right now. On closer inspection, I believe the coded alpha numeric pattern inscribed on the inside cover could possibly indicate a pedigree copy from "The Podiatrist" himself.
  8. Oh my, motorcycles.... and schomburg? Just when I thought I was getting close....
